DJ Premier to Produce Royce Da 5′9″’s Entire Album

Last night during a show in chicago show, Royce Da 5′9″ annouced to the crowd that his next album will be entirely produced DJ Premier.
Before the album release, 2 to 3 mixtapes are due to come out this year, the first with G-Unit’s DJ Whoo Kid.
The album is slated to be released by either Oct. or Feb of next year.

Why do we continue to expect rappers and singers to provide us with a social voice? We as a people have a voice that is louder and more potent. If we see problems within our community it’s on us to address it. If Jay or Pac or anybody wants to make it apart of their agenda then cool, but lets not expect it from everybody.

Everybody is not going to be KRS. I do feel we need more of a balence on the radio, but if you look hard enough you can find rappers who do speak on lifes ills.

that summer of ‘96. Jay-Z was nobody until Biggie died. NY critics then stripped the â€œkingâ€ title from Nas who they considered too commercial because of LP’s such as â€œNastradamusâ€ and singles such as “You Owe Me” (Okay, that was the worst song ever behind the stomach sickening track “Oochie Wally”). Funny because the East Coast critics then contradicted themselves by giving â€œThe Blueprintâ€ a â€œclassicâ€ status when all Jay-Z did was put out corny singles such as “IZZO” (biting West Coast Slang) and talk about money and his alcoholic beverage. Because he was getting all this airplay he is the undisputed king even though when West Coast artists were dominating the radio (outside of NY of course) they were nobodies.

He is a rhyme biter more than Puffy ever was a beat biter. The way Bush plays off people’s emotions about 9/11, I believe Jay-Z has made a career playing off the emotions and sadness centered around Biggie’s death. 30-42% of his rhymes are Biggie’s, he has bitten Tupac’s rhymes (after being bitched by him on the first track of “Makaveli”), and cannot even freestyle as he admits on number 13 of “The Blueprint” when he talks about “memorizing lines” as an exercise. He calls out Nas out on The Blueprint for lacking hot shit since Illmatic; but maybe he was just looking in the mirror because after Reasonable Doubt which was a classic minus “Ain’t No Nigga”, Jigga put out the same commercialized bullshit he was calling Nas out for while supposedly “trying to progress with this rap shit.” “Undisputed king?” Okay…

Now when I got back to Atlanta that fall of â€˜96, Outkast dropped â€œAtliensâ€. Now if I were to go up to an East Coast hip-hop critic and say that â€œAtliensâ€ was a better album than â€œReasonable Doubtâ€ they would fall down laughing and then get up and try to do something. They would say that nobody was listening to “Atliens” and that Jay-Zâ€™s interpretation of street life on that album was beyond competition. I would then slap the shit out of that critic and remind them that no one was listening to “Reasonable Doubt” heavily at that time. Outkast was getting more spins on Southern and Midwestern radio than Jay-Z was getting in his own city. Outkastâ€™s perception of Southern street life with tracks such as â€œElevatorsâ€ (which Funkmaster Flex has noted confusion at why Hot 97 wasnâ€™t playing it), â€œTwo Dope Boyz (In a Cadillac)â€, and â€œJazzy Bellesâ€ related nothing to NY street life so therefore NY critics dismissed it.

The thing about Jay is, he’s a businessman. As much as i would like to see a Joe Budden or Redman album, obviously those aren’t Hov’s top priorities as president of Def Jam. Mayb J is co-sigining Southern Acts Like Rick Ross & Young Jeezy, to strengthen their credibility with east coast fans…This tatic may not work on every cat up north, but for some it will…especially those who are “Hustlin”…But the difference with east coast MC’s, everybody wants to stand on their on, so “J-features” are rare…with that said, I stand behind J’s decision to hop on this remix, It only strengthens his/DefJam Empire…and contray to what I’ve read in above posts…Young Jeezy may b around for a minute…He might not be Super lyrical, but he has some of the past -one/two liners.

why did the south get a big boost from the industry. seeing as us east coasters dont really follow them because we say they are to SIMPLE to SLOW, WEAK lyricist. look at those capitlazied words. think about when they got the break in the game. they got the go ahead from the powers that be. If you really listen to the verse, you are hearing a man pretty much say that. I am above you (”yea I balls a lot/ now I own the team/ Ricky Ross, Rocafella, I owns the seen” “yall not my equal”), I got more than you (”white on white G4, hater get lost”…..”millions niggs, I got couple hundud them”), and I can do things you can do because of it (rock open toed sandles and island wear). This cat has nothing to prove no mo, he aint gangsta no mo, he don’t have to keep a mean mug on for every photo shoot.

But thats what makes him so real. He didn’t even say Cam’s name. Some people see that as sneek dissin. But why would you spit dudes name everywhere on a song right before his album drops? That is what Cam was after anyway. Now when his record cools down, his career will be over after Jay rips him and his crew a new one. You can’t even take every tight song Cam has ever made and equal the tight tracks on the Black Album alone, let alone BluePrint2 (my personal all time Jay favorite.)
