    I think you have some true legitimate points, but lemme ask you this…

    I’m from ATL (not that it really matters) and I will FOREVER pay homage to NY for laying the foundation of the hip hop movement. 4 of my favorite MC’s are from NY. I also agree that some South rappers (not ALL, but SOME) have damaged hip hop because they’ve been pushed to the limelight and is being looked at as trendy (Franchize Boyz, D4L) and I HATE that – it’s EMBARASSING…but I don’t think they truly represent the South. Anyway, here’s my question…

    Do you (or DON’T you) feel that cats like OutKast and Goodie should get SOME props?

    Not only for keeping it fresh, but different and moving along? Think about it…We’re talking about 2 entirely different styles of living. For years NY has been the only voice of hip hop, and if cats from the South were to try and come with the same flow, it wouldn’t be taken seriously. Kast, Goodie, and UGK came with a different perspective. They dared to be different, and it worked.

    I look at it like this…in basketball, there was only one Wilt Chamberlain…then years later came Dr. J…then years later came Jordan. None of these players tried to imitate what was before them, they added their OWN flare to the game.

    What’s your opinion on that?

Rap has not allways been about batteling, however it has allways been about expression, whether u battel or not. U talk about history when it is apparent that u don’t know history, It is odvious u dont know about Gill Scott Herron, or any of rap’s predsessors that layed spoken words over beats way before it became a new york cultural phenom. And u talk about commercial, rap ant get commercial till ny niggs got ahold of it. Even currently, the top 5 commercial rapers come from where 4 out of 5 ny, and 5 is nelly from st. lou. As far as reping where u from, it does not take much of a man to rep. where we are from when ur city is doing it. But rep your shit when no boty knows where the fuck your from. Shit, UGK put PAT on the map as well as texas, and are well respected on many coasts. And u talk about paper! dem niggs been puting out albums as long as jigga And the south, west coast and every other coat ate it up. So for real fuck cocky new york niggs, We dont listen to yalls shit, and dont give a fuck if u listen to ours, every body else will and if yall still want to hate more after the south has world wide recognition of producing ikons, shit hate that.
