I’m not too sure what you mean what hip-hop was supposed to be about, but the main reason what hip hop is to bring about is change, and unconformity to the standards that are placed upon us. If asians want to rap then its cool, and so whites, but the music is still black music, there’s no denying that.

Emmis Radio LLC, which owns WQHT-FM, filed a breach-of-contract lawsuit against the New York City District Council of Carpenters Pension Fund, owner of the Greenwich Village building that houses “Hot 97″ and two sister stations.

In an eviction lawsuit filed earlier this week, the fund accused the station of promoting violence among its hip-hop artists _ who include Lil’ Kim, 50 Cent, and Jay-Z _ and their listeners. It said the suit was based on its fear for the lives of other tenants and passers-by. Citing three shootings, two bomb threats and more than a dozen other incidents involving celebrity guests at the station’s offices since March 2000, the fund said it wants Emmis’ stations out, despite six years left on the lease.

The fund said the April 26 shooting of rapper Jamal “Gravy” Woolard before an interview at the station was its last straw. Police said 11 gunshots were fired outside the 10-story building. Woolard was slightly wounded. Indianapolis-based Emmis says in papers filed in Manhattan’s state Supreme Court that the pension fund “has blocked access to the premises by any and all of tenant’s visitors.”

While the eviction action is pending, court papers say, fund officials have told Emmis that “Hot 97″ will not be allowed to have any visitors in the building except artists _ with seven days notice.
