BREAKING: The HITS Daily Double website (Reg. Req.) is projecting Mobb Deep’s first week numbers to be in the 110k range. I’m inclined to believe them since they called T.I.’s first week pretty accurately.

“G-Unit/Interscope heritage rap act Mobb Deep’s Blood Money should rack up in the neighborhood of 110k as the one-time Loud Records and Jive act makes their bow on 50 Cent’s label.”

May 3rd, 2006 at 5:51 pm

>>@ Kornphlake… The cars are probably on a tow truck as we speak.
lol
May 3rd, 2006 at 6:14 pm
nah, they should keep the cars. they’ll sell 100,000 this week which means they’ll get about $150k each, just enough to pay 50 back for the porsches. next week they can pay maybe half thier advance, week after production, week after promotion. when its all said and done, they’ll probably only owe 50 like $25,000 each. thats not so bad.
May 3rd, 2006 at 6:25 pm
Mobb Deep is still kinda str8, but with “Put ‘Em In Their Place” as their only single, which isnt getting much play to begin with, i don’t think there first week will do huge numbers. “Put Em In Their Place” is a cool track, but i dont think 50’s audience (AKA white kids from the suburbs) can really feel that as much as the streets; crackas just wanna hear a hot beat with some gay party lyrics, word up.
May 3rd, 2006 at 6:28 pm
“crackas just wanna hear a hot beat with some gay party lyrics, word up.”
Lol.
May 3rd, 2006 at 6:30 pm
Nigga you been gay but…..lets do LOGIC!!! 109 1ST WEEK on there last album 300k total now despite what you want to think they didn’t lose every Mobb Deep fan but for argument sake lets say 50k of those 1st week sales go away… You are still going to make up for that that with curiousity that they never had before and a fraction of that G-Unit fan base, combine that with the fact that they probably shipped 800k 1.5 world wide they first week sales will be fine….,. THe trick is what they ship and I’m sure they gone ship a shit load…
May 3rd, 2006 at 6:32 pm
Tell me that album not a BANGGER!!!!
1. Smoke It
2. Speakin so freely
3. Stole Something Feat. Banks
4. The Infamous
5. DayDreamin
6. Click Click Feat. Yayo
7. System Feat. Big Noyd
8. In Love with the Moula
9. Backstage Pass
10. Put’em In They Place
11. Creep Feat. 50
12. Its Alright Feat Mary J. Blidge
13. Pearly Gates Feat. 50 Cent
14. Capital P. Capital H.
—AND WHATEVER WITH THE BONUS STUFF—-
Try that play list…
May 3rd, 2006 at 6:48 pm
That album is not a banger, first of all they stole a Bobby Womack beat for Mary J blige to sing over, secondly Banks and Yayo both have terrible features, Big Noyd i dont even know why he still raps.
50 on creep is terrible, although i dont mind that pearly gates track, and after listening to this album for a few weeks id only give it 2.5/5.
Not very good, not even 1 banger that stands out to me that I am like wow this track is dope.
It was just sub-par at best.
May 3rd, 2006 at 6:51 pm
hahahahhahahahahhaha whatever!!!
May 3rd, 2006 at 6:54 pm
Madden, your last comment made no sense. What does what they ship have to do with it?
What it boils down to is a month ago I said if they do under 300 their first week, they flopped, and that’s exactly what is about to happen.
You mad?

Blood Money
Artist: Mobb Deep
Title: Blood Money
Rating:****
Reviewed by: Martin A. Berrios Allhiphop
Even though Mobb Deep gained enormous street fame in the 90’s with their classic The Infamous, the Queensbridge duo have never quite lived up to that earlier greatness on subsequent releases. They showed hints of again reaching their potential here and there on Hell On Earth and Murda Muzik, but didn’t serve up the thorough follow-ups needed to keep their cult status granite solid. With their last album, Amerikaz Nightmare, Progidy and Havoc were met with another lukewarm response. In customary scorned rapper fashion, they blamed the label and bounced. With a new free agent status in place, 50 Cent scooped the boys up in ‘05 and made them G-Unit’s first official signing outside the Interscope family tree. The result is Blood Money (Infamous/G-Unit/Interscope); Mobb’s strongest batch of work since they laced us with “Quiet Storm”.
Overall P and Hav don’t stray too far from their distinctive formula. The hood drama meets gritty production on the album’s first single “Put Em In Their Place”. Sha Money XL cooks up blazing horns to match the group’s stern demeanor. On “Capital P, Capital H” they justify their unbecoming ways over a laid back distorted bass track laced with synth. On “Pearly Gates” the Mobb shows deeper range as they take an atheist view at life with a show stealing verse from 50 Cent. All three Queens natives converse skeptically over a playful soul sample driven track. Havoc’s bars ultimately put the writing on the wall: “I found myself asking God what the fuck is my purpose/You go to heaven, know I’m foul but put a good word in.”
Sonically, the album keeps an overall dark overtone. On “Speakin So Freely” Havoc lays some eerie guitar strings over some soft drum kicks, setting a proper backdrop for the Mobb’s thinly veiled diss to some of their former homeys. H continues showcasing his production prowess when utilizing speedy high hats and kicks with an awkward noise about every two bars on the Lloyd Banks assisted “Stole Something”. The distorted bass heavy “Backstage Pass†is sure to get maximum love on the block as well.
With what seems to be a necessarily evil amongst rappers, Mobb fall into the trap of forcing a radio friendly hit. “Hollywood” Hav and “V.I.” P try to recreate the magic of 50’s “Candy Shop” with “Give It To Me”; but fail to connect. Even a verse from Young Buck couldn’t save this joint.
While this technically doesn’t feel like a true Mobb Deep effort (the G-Unit influence is obvious throughout the disc-where’s Noyd?), Blood Money still bangs. This album is sure to push Mobb Deep back to the forefront. Curtis
May 3rd, 2006 at 6:57 pm
i can’t wait to see what excuses they’ll have on monday. thats probably where luis and bugsy are, brainstorming on a way to flip this into what 50 wanted to happen.
May 3rd, 2006 at 6:57 pm

May 3rd, 2006 at 7:03 pm
Lol @ this nigga postin reviews still trying to convince himself that the album is hot.
Let it go doggie, it’s over and you, 50, Hav and Albert all lost.
But fuck it though, you guys can just chalk it up as a learning experience. Maybe ya’ll can link up with Cease and put out a DVD or sumthin like: “How NOT to Crossover” or “How to Flop in 1 Week or Less”
May 3rd, 2006 at 7:05 pm
stop pickin on him es, they made 50 back the money he lent them for the porsche. so long as 50 is happy, so is madden. god i love it that the fun has already begun.
May 3rd, 2006 at 7:08 pm
HAHAHAHAHHA
10 PEOPLE IN HERE DIDN’T BUY THE ALBUM AND ARE HATING AND NOW ITS GOING TO FLOP HA!!!
AND OH ESGAY PLEASE EXPLAIN WHAT THE NUMBER OF ALBUMS SHIPPED HAVE TO DO WITH THE FIRST WEEK SALES TO YOUR CHILDREN!!!
May 3rd, 2006 at 7:09 pm
Madden, I make up my own opinions about albums, but that review you pasted ALMOST convinced me that the beat for “creep” was hot and that 50 really should have been on half the tracks on the album.
And I think this is mobbs 3rd single for the album, outta control being the first, pearly gates being #2 and put em in they place being #3.
Atleast thats the order I heard them on the radio.
Albert and Havoc are gonna fit right in on g unit, by selling less than they thought they would. i call it the Tony Yayo vision “I am going to sell a million records” then you sell 100,000.
May 3rd, 2006 at 7:14 pm
whats the last thing g unit did that didn’t flop?
May 3rd, 2006 at 7:15 pm
mascarra?
May 3rd, 2006 at 7:16 pm
Maybe Mobb Deep can get a book deal from fifty to help make up what they’re gonna owe him.
May 3rd, 2006 at 7:20 pm
Moussaoui is not going to last long in prison unless he is in constant protective custody by straight cops only. Otherwise, both guards and prisoners are going to conspire to rape him and eventually kill him, make him suffer. Man, it is widely known they do this type of shit to serial killers and some of the worst of the worst, but this guy is in a class of his own. I guarntee you that the racist guards and the most gansta brothers are going to come to together to make the rest of his short life as horrible as possible. Fucking wanna-be Al-Q.
May 3rd, 2006 at 7:22 pm
Does the album really suck? Im thinking bout copping it sometime this week. Holla at me people!!
May 3rd, 2006 at 7:24 pm
Kornphlake, mascarra was a flop. 50 said if i don’t sell as much as my first album, i failed. exact words. well he failed more than twice as bad as he thought.
May 3rd, 2006 at 7:24 pm
Does Mobb Deep even have an audience anymore? The streets don’t care about them after Lil’ Ballerina P got Summer Jam’d by Jay-z and all his other unfavorable occurances. The mainstream doesn’t care since they don’t really have a radio hit. However many records they sell this week, consider that the number of hardcore 50 cent fans who still think he is the future of hip-hop.
May 3rd, 2006 at 7:25 pm
MadeInMilwaukee, if you wanna cop a hot mobb album, cop infamous. don’t support this garbage.
May 3rd, 2006 at 7:29 pm
Madden you can tell yourself whatever you want, but numbers don’t lie. just remember what I said, under 300k = flop. and if they sell less than Yayo did his first week, well then do I even have to explain how badly they lost?
May 3rd, 2006 at 7:29 pm
I actually loved 50’s Massacre. It had some great, smooth songs from those Queens producers, most notably A Baltimore Love Thing (if a white guy wrote that on paper, it would be consider a modern poetry classic) and Ryder Music. Too bad there was way too much crap he tried to push onto the radio scene. I think 50 Cent and his G-Unit posse serve best as a testament to Dr. Dre skill at producer.
May 3rd, 2006 at 7:31 pm

>> they get to keep the cars or what?
They’re non-recoupabe. So even if they flop and get kicked out of G-Unit, the Lambo’s are theirs. Whats 400k to 50? His second hand garbage he passes as music went diamond. His (no style) generic looking G-Unit clothing sells like crazy, he makes royalties off of Game, Buck, Banks, and (I shouldn’t even mention this) Yayo, and grape flavored water.

speaking of the in-store, here’s a review of it from the Voice complete with Nahright link
http://www.villagevoice.com/blogs/statusainthood/archives/2006/05/the_carwreck_ap.php
Sample:
Mobb Deep just spent a week riding the subway around New York with some huge bodyguard as a publicity stunt. Bridget was out on her lunch break last Monday when she saw them guys walking down Fulton Street in downtown Brooklyn, trailed by a horde of kids and a gaggle of cameramen while an onlooker sneered something about “male groupies.” But not that many male groupies were willing to plonk down $10 plus tax on Blood Money so they’d get the wristband they’d need to see the Mobb Deep in-store appearance at the midtown FYE yesterday afternoon. The line outside FYE looked pretty huge, half a block of dudes behind a metal barricade, but the store had plenty of room left once the couple hundred faithful crammed in at 6 p.m. yesterday. Blood Money leaked last week, and general consensus is that it’s terrible, that Prodigy and Havoc sound totally lost and useless on big glossy club-targeted G-Unit tracks.
May 3rd, 2006 at 8:39 pm
*walks in the room*
*takes a sip of haterrade*

Mobb Deep will be struggling to come in the top 5 on the billboard if they sell only 110k. With both Pearl Jam and Tool releasing in the same week will guarantee them a third place at best.

[Taken from the posted Mousssaoui Article]
Moussaoui shows no remorse
————————————-
On the witness stand, Moussaoui displayed a complete lack of remorse for the 9/11 deaths, saying he was sorry only that the attacks weren’t more lethal.
“I just wish it could have gone on the 12th, the 13th, the 14th, the 15th, the 16th, the 17th. We can go on and on,” Moussaoui said. “Like they say, no pain, no gain.”
His attorneys asked the jury not to give him the death penalty and make him an al Qaeda martyr.

but they killed Stanely “Tookie” Williams…get the fuck outta here. This guy was directly/indirectly responsible for killing american citizens through acts of terrorism and he gets life!?!
Then he goes on record to make the above harsh remarks. This can’t be real.

>>They might as well have gave Moussaoui the chair, they will kill him in about a week of him getting to prison…
^ I doubt it he’s going to a Supermax prison where he’ll sit in a cell 23 hours a day and have hardly any contact with guards or other inmates
>>hey eskay:
let me design your myspace page..please??
^let me see your resume
>>This guy was directly/indirectly responsible for killing american citizens through acts of terrorism and he gets life!?!
^ I disagree. I think life is appropriate. for one I don’t approve of the death penalty because it makes absolutely no sense.
also how the fuck can you sentence somebody to death for not warning authorities that something was gonna go down? what did they expect him to do call the FBI and tip them off, i mean let’s be real here. plus this guy isn’t even the real “20th highjacker” as th media would like us to believe. he’s a scapegoat plain and simple.
don’t get me wrong, I was in Manhattan on 9/11 so I know all about it, but this trial was nothing more than symbolic show of power. the government should have put this much energy into prosecuting these idiots before the fact not after it.

^agreed. i don’t think he should’ve gotten the death penalty cause this is worse in his case. and i know he was a pee-on as far as being a terrorist is concerned but he should suffer for playing a small part of it. like i said earlier, even if he just went to home depot to get the box cutters for the hi-jackers, he should get the book thrown at him. as far as the death penalty, my personal belief is that the family of the victim should decide whether or not a person gets the death penalty. having someone pass judgement who is not relevant to a situation makes no sense to me.

yeah the death penalty is a tough one. I’m morally against it, but you best believe if anybody harmed anybody I love I’d want that motherfucker dead to.

If you give him the chair he becomes a martyr. That would do more harm then help.

I agree, but my point was this, as much disdain as the government has for Terrorisst, especially those who show no remorse for thier actions…u think they would have thrown the book at this guy and gave him the chair. This guy was proud of the outcome of 9/11…then you have Stanley Williams on the other hand, who was considered by most who came in contact with him, a shinning example reformation…and though we may never know, he could have been innocent…but he gets the death penalty…btw, I too am 100% against the death penalty
