We should not force ourselves to conform to an audience that only deals with us for profit. We should be smart enough to not comprimise ourselves for the sake of mainstream acceptance.

In fantasy land that would be great, but in this real world it is nonsense. Isn’t that the debate that goes on in here all the time? People are always talking about who is going platinum or who has the most spins and shit like that. What does going platinum mean? It means you have a huge audience. How did you get that audience? Probably by catering to them in some sort of manner. Let’s remember that this is a capitalist society. I would love for a cat to sell millions of records just off the strength that he is nice at what he does. Let’s face it, as nice as Jay is lyrically it wouldn’t mean shit if he did not ride around in a Bent or talk about how much bread he has.

The majority of hip hop fans are white, be it back packer suburb, urban cat artist, wanna be etc.

Case in point. You will not move your product in this country, at least in a substancial way if you don’t sell to the majority, D-Boys, know it, Oprah knows it and Jay Z knows it.
Oprah nor Hip Hop, Nor 50 would be where he is to day without white mommas and their children.

So if O is a sellout then so is 50.

I am pro gat, I understand the importance of violence, however I have never seen anything as poisonous as his video game. Talk about giving little (white boys) the opportunity to be vicarously black through entertainment.

What is worse, Oprahs perceived lack of involvement with the black community, which is debateable or 50′s wealth built largely on poison?
