Stray Shots

mobb-train.JPG

Is it me or does P look a little leery in that pic? I don’t know why, it’s not like he didn’t have the BIG homey with him. You can see more flicks of Mobb Deep’s little adventure into the streets and subways of NY over at whatspoppin.net. More at MTV also.

I can’t believe Im typing this: Here’s a new Ja Rule dis to 50 Cent, 21 Gun Salute.

50 vs. Oprah

New Papoose – Robbery Song

World hip-hop questions U.S. rap

Damn, talk about catching a bad one

Rush Limbaugh getting locked up is a good thing, even if they did let him just buy his way out of trouble. He might want to consider a move to Mexico.

  2. Dumb Nigga aka Milk Money Says:

Huh, i’m wishing both Murder INC and G-UNIT would just go away. They both have a fake main rapper. Ja Rule and 50 Cent are 2 of the biggest bitches in hip-hop!

  3. Dumb Nigga aka Milk Money Says:

Oh and Hav and P looked nervous in that picture.

P’s probably thinking to himself. ” I hope i dont get robbed again…..”

  4. dubble13 Says:

The strange thing about the “club beatdown” video, is the guy looks like he was ready to start dancing to the “Whisper Song” while blood was gushing out of his head.

  5. E From BK Says:

I think Rush has taken a page out of Hip Hop where negative press is good press. I guess he didn’t want to do a Cheney so he decided to get is thug on in another way.

l-m-n-o-P is looking liiiiight on the truck jewels that day. Nigga got his starter kit on.

I feel bad for homie that got buck-fiftied especially because his shirt is now ruined.

  12. Moe Greene Says:

talk about catchin a bad one. dude was leakin like a faucet.

  13. Pointing Out The Obvious Says:

Are these Murder Inc. guys retarded? Gotti just got acquitted for money laundering and now Rule goes on record insinuating he got away with it while at the same time shouting out Supreme Team.

These guys are dumb as fuck.

  14. Ru Says:

they are just riding the train! whats so amazin about that?

hiphop and mobb deep have jumped the shark..its official.

whats next..we gon see some rapper eating mashed potatoes on the sidewalk?
    bah to this bullshit

  15. Sour D. Says:

what the fuck is up with dude with the blood gushing out his face. thats both the most fucked up and funniest thing i’ve ever seen. he tried playin it off like, i know who did it, its iight. MOTHERFUCKER YOUR CHEEKS ABOUT TO FALL OUT. funny shit.

i have never listened to one of ja rule’s responces to any diss anyone has ever made for him. except on that one green lantern where they played a verse of his before they put on em’s song. and i will never do it unless its forced again.

Pap song is hot. Es, hear anything on this mixtape. it was supposed to drop like 2 weeks ago.

  16. philip Says:

    Rush needs to O.D.

  17. ricky d Says:

anyone from Brooklyn on here? I have a dumb question… what would you call the area from Saratoga Ave east to the cemetery, south of Broadway and north of Atlantic? Bed-Stuy, Brownsville, ENY?

  18. ricky d Says:

oh yeah, I mention this because I think that is where Papoose is from, and I think most people would call it Bed-Stuy but I think I have heard a few people call it Brownsville.

  19. Blue Says:

“World hip hop questions U.S. rap.” Well I guess that settles it. The world wasn’t questioning us N.Y. was on top so N.Y. definitely needs to reclaim hip-hop…

“many artists in Hartford blamed the current preoccupations of US hip-hop on the music industry, and stressed they believe record labels and radio conglomerates are actively promoting negative stereotypes to bury rap with a positive or political message.” (no shit)

But that’s real and that’s exactly what the problem is. That’s why a nigga like Jeezy is able to blow, because he talks about that bullshit (i.e. shit that will either get you locked up or killed). He is fucking terrible, but the powers that be happen to want black folks to both sell their dope and risk getting locked up or killed while doing it. It’s a win-win situation for them. It’s almost seems like record companies interview rappers that they may potentially sign, and one of the the questions is: ‘Have you ever sold drugs”?

  20. Front Says:

That blood looked fake man. Plus, if that shit was real, who the fuck just stands there. You’d think he might want to go to the hospital or at least get some revenge. Fucking apathy is bullshit.

  21. dubble13 Says:

The blood was probably real. The need to act/look hard along with possible intoxication overrides any and all sensibilities.

  22. Demiks Says:

“I think she caters to older white women. Oprah’s audience is my audience’s parents.”

The only time I have agreed with Fifty. And even Fifty admitted his audience are those rich white kids trying to be “down.” Think back to the Trading Spouses skit on Chappelle.

  23. iLL Change Says:

the fuck is up wit the dude witta buck 50 standin there like “yeah, i got my face slashed open – lets get on the dance floor!” u dont take a razor to the face and go grab a drink, u go and grab a knife and poke some shit up.

  24. rumbl3bumski Says:

whats up with with ja?he just tryin to get bac in da spot light.hip hop has too much ego in dat shit, just have fun bitches!!they got all dat money and still act like little kids!! any other genre of music doesnt have this problem!i aint mad at mobb deep, its funny how everybody loved em when MURDA MUZIK hit!!!

  25. dCs Says:

that dude got his face cut up. yeah, go ahead. stand there and act hard. its ok, blood loss to the brain is no big deal right? at least dont stand there and take shit. you dont look any better wit blood flowin from your head unless youre in a fray man. that dude shouldve passed out, it wouldve made that video 20 times more enjoyable.

that 50 dis wasnt that bad for a ja rule track, he usually gets some good shots in there as far as subject matter. other than that i wouldnt listen to that track more than once.

i laughed when i heard that shit from 50 too. “I think she caters to older white women. Oprah’s audience is my audience’s parents.” that was way too true.

  26. T. Okes Says:

That shit was like a busted sprinkler the way all that blood was flowin’ off his chin…goddamn.

About the state of hip hop, shit’s BEEN needing a change…and that won’t happen this year and probably not in ’07 either…we’ll need an entire wave of real emcees to come through, I’m talkin’ true hip hop heads….not some fake broke niggas that are lookin’ for a side hustle. There’s only a few these days that think of the art more than the doe.

  27. green eyed bandit Says:

I wonder how many people have looked at every link EXCLUDING the world hiphop vs. us rap link. Or looked at it last…..

    I feel a rant coming…

If anyone wants some real talk they need to start to consider the point that can be found in that story. I dont give a damn about who 50 is beefing with, who may get their jewelry stole on the train, etc. Nothing wrong with you if thats what floats your boat. its all good. to each their own. I do however think that if you have the capability to touch countless lives, like these rappers got, then you have more power then most. and with great power comes great responsibility. How many of our commercial hiphop artists are NOT putting in any effort whatsoever into making conditions better for the average folk? I would say most. Come on. Hiphop is one of the greatest tools being used in commerce right now. HipHop has some clout! It boggles my mind that these rappers don’t see (or choose not to see) what power they truely have.

To me the worst is when gifted artists feel they have to maintain the status quo of coke/ money/ gun talk just to keep their job and remain ‘hot’. That is some self-slavery right there. The argument is always “hey this is real talk” but I think its only real talk in the viewpoint of the oppressor. The real real-talk is a lyric about getting out of a negative situation, rising above it, changing it for the better, helping others do the same. Real talk is a plan for action.

  32. iLL Change Says:

I just got the Blood Money bootleg. I thought this CD was actually gonna be alot worse than it is. its basically Mobb Deep, with P’s lyrics dumbed down and the G-Unit members on 9 of the 16 tracks (!). “Smoke It” is more energetic then most Mobb songs, and “Backstage Pass” & “Give It To Me” (Feat. Young Buck) are wack trax fo the ladies. “Put ‘Em In Their Place”, “Stole Something” (Feat. Lloyd Banks), “Speakin’ So Freely”, “Click Click” (Feat. Tony Yayo), “Daydreamin’”, and “The Infamous” (Feat. 50 Cent) have the usual grimey Mobb beat and aren’t that bad if you can handle 50 & friends spittin lyrics on a few songs. “Creep” (Feat. 50 Cent) has a simple yet weird beat and is real average. “In Love With The Moula”, “Pearly Gates” (Feat. 50 Cent), and “It’s Alright (Feat. 50 Cent & Mary J. Blige) are all more upbeat, witta little bit of pop-type shit you would expect 50 to add. “It’s Alright” is what it is: it’s alright; but then again, its a love song. “In Love With The Moula” has a good beat and is kind of a story-rap about H & P’s love of money, but this kinda shit’s already been done by the Mobb’s favorite “milkshake” NaS (“Money Is My Bitch”). “Pearly Gates”, wit the Mobb talkin bout heaven and soft shit like that wit 50 singin on the hook is uncharacteristic for an M-O-B-B track, but thats what they get for fuckin wit Curtis. “Capital H, Capital P” has a simple beat and is about Havoc & Prodigy rhyming about different initials and ackronyms for their names; pretty retarded. There’s also 2 bonus trax (“Have A Party” and “Outta Control Remix), which we’ve all heard before and aren’t really that good. This is a decent album, but nowhere near all their old shit, which i think is some of the illest NY hip hop around. “Blood Money” can’t compete with “The Infamous” or “Hell On Earth”, and is basically just a step down from “Murda Muzik”; its commercial, but better than i thought. Alotta people say Mobb Deep sold out, which they pretty much did, but think of all the other artists from NY who had bangin street albums in the mid-90′s and turned gay now- Fat Joe, Jay-Z, N.O.R.E., Capone, Method Man, Ja Rule (even 50′s “Power Of The Dollar” was cool.) I still got love for all those dudes, but everything is commercial now, and if the Mobb wants they paper, they gotta have some gimmicks.

@oprah and fitty..personally I think Oprah has a right to hate whoever she wants to while she is a sellout and doesnt really cater to blacks, she has paid her dues and muscled her fat azz to the top, suppose Oprah love rap and wanted to be on 50 next album and 50 said no…what would we say to that?..I know we’d say it’s 50 album and Oprah dont cater to us….50 is a maniacle ego driven azz dude…dissin oprah, god, the pope, whoever he can just so the paper/blogs/radio can lead off with a story like “FIFTY HATES MARY MAGDALENE MOTHER OF JESUS”…When no ones left to diss..he will sit in a empty room butt naked, lookin in a mirror at what he ha sbecome, seeing deep inside his soul, a mere shell of a man that he once was, the ugliness and fakery of his whole life will lead him to open his heart, therefore in turn puttin out the best music he will ever do since power of dollar…………..damn this some good piff.

Fuck 5-0 and Luda! Those guys worry about the wrong things. Oprah does not like this BS Rap shit for the same reason my own mother does not like it and Mom Duke is far from a “sellout.” They are grown ass women and tales of crime and womanizing does not appeal to them. I’m tired of people shittin’ on Oprah. I know my opinion is not popular, but fuck it. Maybe if 5-0 handled himself in a more positive light and he and Luda would make music other than the bullshit they talk about a grown ass woman could take them more seriously. People talkin’ about Oprah being a sellout is fucked up. She does a lot for the Black community stateside and abroad. Those guys can’t even touch what she does as far as her charity work goes. As a matter of fact, who on here who dares to call her a sellout even does 1/16 of what she has done? Not one person! This is the most crab in a barrel shit I have ever heard. I liken it to when being smart and positive is looked down on. Them cats need to step their game up. They are too old for the BS they are doing. Well said E From BK.

  44. eskay Says:

I hear what your saying E From Bk, but my problem with Oprah is the way she condescends an judges. All that charity work and everything is all good and I applaud her for it, but that doesn’t mean I’m gonna excuse her criticizing hip hop and dismissing it based on her own narrow minded perceptions. My moms and pops don’t like it either but I don’t let them talk shit without correcting them and calling them on things they’re wrong about. It’s like, you don’t have to like it but you will respect it.

As far as Luda and 50, I’m sure they’re mad for slightly different reasons. I actually think Luda has a damn good reason to be mad. He went on the show and acted in a respectful civilized manner and Oprah singled him out and then edited the show so that it played out the way she wanted it to. 50 on the other hand is just being 50, but he does have a little bit of a point about Oprah’s audience. At any rate I don’t think Oprah should get a pass just because she flings alot of money around. That’s what your supposed to do when you have that much money.

  45. J Says:

Ok perhaps she could have treated Luda with a little more respect when he was on her show helping to promote the film “Crash”. But just because Oprah wouldn’t piss on Hip Hop even if it were on fire, doesn’t make her a sell out.

  46. E From BK Says:

I hear you on that, but both of those cats appeal to kids and they are mad reckless with their material. I’m not saying they are not free to spit what they spit, I am saying that Oprah being a grown ass woman does not have to cater to them. These older chicks look at people like them differently from you and I. Yeah Luda was well behaved and respectful, but if David Duke started hosting Rap City and he was mad respectful, I believe most people would be up in arms over that. The whole Oprah thing is not that much different. Mi madre y mi tias hate the womanizing and crime stories. You might as well be calling them nigger spic bitches as far as they are concerned. I’m not a huge Oprah fan, but I respect her business acumen and her generosity and I don’t think it’s fair to call her a sellout.

  47. eskay Says:

Yeah I don’t know if I would neccessarily call her a sellout, although I have in the past, it was usually after she made some snooty comment or something.

But there definitely is something about the way she gets down that rubs me the wrong way…

  48. E From BK Says:

Also, her audience is a reflection of Amerikkka. There are plenty of Black women who watch Oprah. The difference is they record the show and watch it after they get off work, pick up the kids, cook dinner, check homework and out the kids to bed while a lot of the older White woman can take the time to sit in the audience.

  49. E From BK Says:

Yo Eskay, I dig when you say there is something about her that rubs you the wrong way. Like I said, I’m not her biggest fan either. I think it’s the hypocrite in me. Most times I don’t identify with her, but as I look at her objectively, I can’t knock her hustle.

  50. rumbl3bumski Says:

i cosign with the green eyed bandit, keepin it real and the sellout shit is fucking up not only hip hop but the whole black community, its actually ok to make it out da hood and if you dont go back FUCKIT, youve been poor before no need to rep that shit just talk to others and explain how to make our communities better for the kids that are growing up now.MAD PROPS TO THE GREEN EYED BANDIT!!!

  57. Foekist Says:

Man both of yall niggas make damn good arguments. Maddenmaster, you make some damn good points, I work with a Nigerian and he definitely is arrtogant towards blacks. Frat brother from Botswana is similar.

I don’t know Oprah personally, so I can’t say if she sold out or not. Its a thin line between becoming international celebrity and selling out, at least in my opinion. Bump her being a sellout (on second thought), who cares, if anything we should look at her for being a symbol for what you can accomplish being black and oppressed, as inspiration. If she’s a sellout, fuck it, she did the damn thang.

  58. Lili Says:

LOL @ Mobb riding the subway. That’d be like seeing the Clipse on the (dc) metro system or something. It just aint right. They can gather the kids by performing @ high schools or something..but riding the damn train? Come on man. 50 is slowly castrating them one ball at a time.

About that cat w/the buck 50……yo, homey was already looking bummy. That spattered blood was the icing on the cake (although the blood did look fake and I’d imagine the gash would look deeper than a surface wound…but who in their right mind would make himself look like a fool and stage something like that in the club?).

“Thas aight, I know who did it..I know who did it..” lol Sounds like Scarface from HalfBaked!: “I know who killed Killer, b….!”

  59. Lili Says:

50′s right. Oprah’s main audience is the middle/upper-middle class White woman who can stay home and watch her or go 2 her show. Can we fault her 4 that? No. Let White folks pour their money into her pockets– she’s great at what she does; she deserves it.

Oprah most certainly does things to shed light on the plight of the impoverished and those in the inner city. 1-2 weeks ago she had 2 episodes dedicated to showing the difference between public schools in affluent White areas and those in inner city Black communities– specifically Chicago.

Watch Oprah and check up on what she does before calling the lady a sellout. Like someone said earlier, if that’s the image of a sellout I’m tryna be like her.

Oprah isn’t from the hip-hop generation and doesn’t want to help “promote” any artists by having them on her show. I don’t think that’s right, but it isn’t my show and we don’t have the same attitudes towards the genre. Oh well. NOT EMBRACING HIP-HOP DOESN’T MEAN NOT EMBRACING BLACK PPL. Hip-Hop doesn’t = Black yall.

I saw that episode of Oprah w/the cast of Crash and I thought she was wrong. Luda was there promoting his movie and she should’ve left it at that, however, like E from BK said– older women look at most hip-hop as disrespectful and mysognistic. My mom hates most of the messages and my aunts don’t pay it any mind.
They’d react the same exact way Oprah does. It gets hard for ME to listen to hip-hop (and DEFEND it, especially to White folks who think Black men hate & disrespect Black women –now, I shouldn’t have to defend my men or our music…) when every damn thing is about getting it in and T & A. If it’s hard for a 20yr old girl who grew up with hip-hop, how do u think a 50 yr old woman is going to react?

On a side note, I can totally see 50 being on Oprah and having a nice chat w/her and making her like his personality (he can come off quite charming w/the ladies) while she openly hates his music. I’ll wait for that day, because I’m sure it’s coming somewhere down the line. I mean, hey..He did The View. lol

  60. Front Says:

Have you heard some of this foreign hip-hop? Its fucking horrible. America doesn’t give a shit if the song is about politics, religion, or blinging, they just want to hear good music. Look at the success of Kanye West and all the other backpackers.

  61. Kev Says:

Why are all these rappers trying to get at Opera for. Look at what 50 said “She only caters to older white folks” you dumb mother fucker cause that is where most of her money is coming from just like when you made all those cross over female songs you knew thats where the moneys at. Rap has been selling with or without an apperance on Opera. If you rappers want to talk about who she only caters to then tell Luda talk rap about something more then bitches and smoking weed and tell 50 rap about something more then killing niggas, bitches and smoking weed cause it seems to me that you rappers are only catering to a certain audience your damn selfs ASSHOLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  62. E From BK Says:

    Well said Lili!

  63. MaddenMaster Says:

SPEAK FOR YOURSELF MUFUCKA AFRICA AINT MY HOMELAND AND EVERY BLACK PERSON DON’T COME FROM THERE YOU FUCKING IDIOT!!!! AND YOU HAVE TO GO SEE AT LEAST 4 COUNTRIES BEFORE YOU CAN TELL ME HOW MUFUKAS GET DOWN AND FEEL ABOUT US “AMERICAN BLACKS”…. I’m sorry you have such low self-esteem about yourself and your people if your black, but clearly someone as educated as yourself do know what cause and effect is and based on cause and effect there is no way we created all of our problems, so I’m sorry if you feel that we all “Lazy,Weed Smoking, bums” but I personally know a few brothers on here that don’t fit that bill……

  64. Demiks Says:

The fact still is, Oprah is narrow minded when it comes to Hip-Hop. There are groups like The Roots who play their own instruments and promote positive messages. And when you hear rappers like Ice Cube talk bad about police, he isn’t trying to be a “cop killer,” it’s all mis-read. When someone kills a cop though, rappers like Ice Cube get blamed for it.

Oprah put ‘Ye on her show, and he says “nigga” just as many times as any gangsta rapper. I don’t care what anyone says, Oprah should of been drafted to the white team alongside Condoleezza Rice.

  65. MaddenMaster Says:

    HAHAHAHAHA THATS FUCKEN RIGHT!!! ^^^^

She don’t know who she is but yet we should bow down……. GET THE FUCK OUTTA HERE….. THAT BITCH WROTE A PERSONAL CHECK FOR 52 MILLION FOR HER CALI. oh shit hommies i been away for a minute… ja rules on the lose!?!?!?! who let that nigga out from under the rock he hid under HAHA… crazy nigga… well i gotta admit, his style is so similar to 50′s( or is 50′s similar to his??? you be the judge)…

i’ve said this once before(i think) oprah dont give to shits bout rappers because she deals with white people, i mean the only reason kanye was on her show was because he’s got a big ass mouth and hes from chicago, be realistic, how many of them screaming fans that were on that show do you think can even spell kanye???… rappers need to get over the fact that oprah will never give two shits about them and just move on, cause tihnk bout it, they go on the show, will it help there sales? i doubt it, its a bunch of tom jones loving white women on that shit man… crazy motherfuckers these rappers are…

im so happy world artist are talking about the problems in US hip hop(when it comes to the violence and drugs) i mean there are exceptions without a doubt that adresse the problems in a positive way, but they said something that i love to point out all the time, the industry and radio promotes negativity *fuck BET*, Hot 97 is the worst in my oppinion always adding fuel to the fire by inviting people to talk about there fucking beefs on there shows like its the way hip hop was sposed top be. make me sick…

i wonder wtf happened to that nigga man, pretty nasty gash on his face…

  68. Darth Cipher Says:

after reading some other comments bout oprah i wonna say something else… we gotta remember, when her ass was first coming up, who welcomed her with open arms??? white people, and its not fair to say she dont cater to blacks, cause shit i seen a couple episodes of her show, and i see maDD white and black women looking to get free shit(mostly white though)… but we gotta look at what she talks about on shows, what her image has been for all these years, what she exactly stands for, and the pro feminism, everybody she’s had on her show in some way or another promotes good women(kanye isnt the best example, but he sang gold digger and hey mama on the show, goldigger dissing money hungry bitches and hey mama pro single mothers) oprah is without a doubt the most succesful black person on earth, no one can contest that, and she did it with the help of white people and a handful of blacks… and thats the fucking truth… i would never expect oprah to pay respect to the likes of Luda or any other mainstream artist who dont have a strong rep for positive rap( has common been on oprah yet???…) just some food for thought on the smartest black woman on earth, who got her cake, iced it up, ate it in all our faces and then bought each of us a cupcake cause shes got the fucking money too…

Yo, how did Lupe totally take De La Soul’s song. Song I just heard on whatspoppin De La performed on Dave Chappelle show.

  73. J Says:

I cannot believe that people are attacking Oprah on here. Just because she promotes positivity on her show and refuses to give loudmouth 30 something year old rappers a platform, who behave like 18 year olds that can barely string a sentence together, then this makes her some sort of a sell out, who doesn’t care about black people??? As a people we do ourselves no favours. Here we have a woman who was brought up in poverty in the segregrated South, who was sexually abused as a child, and had the odds stacked against her. But through hard work and dedication here she is in 2006 – a billionnaire media mogul. Instead of us a people commending her and looking up to her, we are cussing about her not featuring rappers on her show and not liking Hip Hop!! No wonder other races /cultures laugh at us. We would rather praise negativity then positivy. Pathetic!

  74. Plug industries AKA the Regulator Says:

I’m personally mad at Harpo because she is biased agains rappers. She have people who write murder mystery books, cursing comidians who degrade women, whites who mad movies about killing on her show……but she refuses to show young black rappers who do the same thing the others do any respect. Shes biased.

P.S. your picture looks nice for a 99 year old female……..

  75. Plug industries AKA the Regulator Says:

The ps was for j. everything else was for whomeva

  76. reggaetonslasher Says:

I dont know if its me moving up in age, if its all the changes going on in hip hop, if its the reggaeton, or the south snap, but lately I havn’t had the need to listen to any hip hop, usually I wouldnt be able to wake up without getting my fix on some hip hop, but this morning while in the shower, I had my radio tuned into lite FM. I havent heard anything that inspires me like hip hop used to. Its like a bitch that you get tired of cause shes too jealous, or boring, or she dosnt give you back the love you give her. So until my bitch Hip Hop starts acting right, I’ll be over here with her sister Jazz. Jazz is smooth and caring and I can feel her soul, unlike her younger sister who is superficial, throws fits of anger, and has nothing beneath her surface.

  77. J Says:

Ok.. perhaps it would be cool for her to have rappers like Chuck D and KRS One featured on her show. But if we’re talking about people like Camron, Rick Ross, Jim Jones and Mr “Snowman” Young Jeezy, then FORGET IT!!! That would just be car crash TV and embarassing to watch.

To Plug Industries… I have a good plastic surgeon.

  78. D. Billz Says:

Damn, been away for a few days. I can admit that I’m really impressed with everyone’s point of view and comments. Intelligently worded opinions, can’t be mad at that. Ok, now on with the show…

Awww… look at Ballerina and Hollywood. Those niggas look really uncomfortable. And just as someone has stated earlier, it looks like they were light on the jewelry that day. I mean, where’s the spinning G-Unit chain? Or the “Infamous” pieces? I can only sum this up in the words of one of my favorite MCs: “I love when you rock them jewels around here, you look like fooooood”… Ha haaa.

Dammmmn Ja, in ’02 you was the mannnnn Ja… da fuck happen to you? This song was really a feeble attempt. I mean, sad to say, he’s trying hard to emulate 50, who’s emulating him… so I guess that means Ja is doing a bad impersonation of… himself??? As aforementioned, he should have came with this diss a long time ago. But much to his dismay, his career got ended back in ’03. And I agree with what someone said earlier as far as them “dry-snitching” about their affiliations. HOW DUMB CAN YOU BE? You just beat charges on big time felonies and you still shouting Supreme Team all over your records? Come on mannnn. You know what? Now I’m kinda glad Ja is gone. But I heard that the last album he dropped during the whole beef wasn’t that bad. I can’t see me actually going to the store and coppin’ that. But if I find someone to burn me a copy then I’ll check it out…. On second thought I just went to Amazon and checked out the snippets, I’ll pass. (Yo, that got massive amounts of Ja albums over there going for litterally $0.10).

Ok, this is interesting. It’s funny how a dude who has made his millions off of white people has the nerve to comment on how another Black person makes their money. And basically admitting guilt because now the whole world knows that you aren’t relevant to the Black community. Even though Curtis should be the last person to comment about her status, he does make a point. Now, I agree with Lili on the fact that Oprah isn’t a supporter of hip hop because of the negative images of women it displays. But I also think it is unfair to exploit the negativity on your own show. Instead of putting down the culture that has provided outlets for Blacks and Hispanics, why not have something positive on the show? Why not invite Tribe Called Quest, KRS, Common, Queen Latifah and many others who have exemplified the art in a positive way? She could have a panel and ask them questions on what needs to be changed and how we can improve the quality of the music. THAT’S how you use power. Because putting down your own race of people in front of the world is exactly what the owners of the media outlets want you to do. And someone mentioned earlier that the white people are the ones who put the dollars in her pocket. And??? As I mentioned before, BLACK PEOPLE ALLOW OURSELVES TO BE BOUGHT AND SOLD TIME AFTER TIME. Yes, we all realize that Oprah has overcome adversity on many levels (raped and molested, told she wasn’t beautiful, wasn’t accepted by white collegues, etc). But if it wasn’t for you going through those things then you wouldn’t be the person you are today. Does anyone else remember the topics that she used to have on her show during the late 80′s and early 90′s? I certainly remember that there were a lot more Black people on the show. I wouldn’t go as far as to call Oprah a “sellout”, but I don’t think she does enough with someone in her position of power… just like the rappers that she puts down. During Hurricane Katrina, Oprah, Bill Cosby, and Bob Johnson should have had their uppity asses down there in the trenches helping our people out. At least if not them, then people who work for them who could’ve been there. Yes, Oprah has made billions but I think she lets the opinions of her predominately white audience influenece her decisions of what is appropriate subject matter for her show. And you know who else does that? MOTHAFUCKIN’ RAPPERS *ahem 50*. But to be honest I can’t blame just 50 because there are many others that do the same thing. So to sum up my ranting and raving, I just want to say that it needs to be more of a collective part on ALL OF OUR BLACK LEADERS to make an effort. Like many others, I am VERY, VERY proud of Oprah and hope that many Black girls follow in her footsteps and use her diligence as a guide to success. Don’t think for one minute that I’m slandering Oprah because I think she exemplifies the upper-echelon of Black America. But instead of putting us down Oprah, help us out. Create an intervention for the people WHO HAVE MADE A POSITIVE IMPACT on the hip hop community a part of your panel to inform white America on the roots of our culture. Because we weren’t always this way. You can even invite record execs (Lyor, Russell, Kevin Liles, Clive Davis, etc) just to let them know how important this subject is to the masses. You’ve already brought us down, now it’s time to uplift us. I think many others here can agree with that.

This Pap joint is on point… “my name +inter+ the +net+ like a basketball”… and is it me, or has Green Lantern been coming with some heat lately on the production side? Have you heard the joint on Lupe’s A Rhyming Ape mixtape titled “A Bathing Harry”? That’s also a GL track, and it is BANANAS. The singing kids in the background is ill. But yeah, Pap held it down once again on this song. And you know what? That’s exactly how niggas get robbed. Trying to be too flashy in a spot where you know it’s nothing but wolves in the place. Repeat: “I love when you rock them jewels around here, you look like foooood”.

The people representing world hip hop make some good ass points. That’s why artists like K-OS, Murs, Talib, and plenty others can go across seas and do well on tours. Those people want to hear something that speaks out against the opressors. That just goes to show you how strong on an influence hip hop has on places outside of the U.S. (see: Oprah statement above). Like someone mentioned in a earlier post, world hip hop is gonna be the new NWA and Public Enemy. These people are dealing with real issues far worse than “having a few gripes about their album” (see: Joe Budden, Mood Muzik 2). People need to stop blaming the labels and start blaming themselves. I said this numerous times and I’m gonna say it again: BLACK PEOPLE DON’T NEED TO BE IN SLAVERY TO BE BOUGHT AND SOLD. We’re the ones making the wack ass music in return for a signed contract that is basically raping us outta millions of dollars. And who suffers from all of this? Our youth. They don’t have a voice of reason to speak about the issues in our lives. Instead it’s all about booties rockin’ everywhere, candy shops, and whole lotta other dumb shit. I think other artists around the world should continue to challenge our integrity. And hopefully it’ll come around full circle.

Yall cats up there be wildin’ with those razors chief. I believe that buck he got was real. But I also agree he look like dumbass just standing there with his face leaking trying to act tough. Down here we don’t really do razors much. Remember that rapper Jihad that got snuffed on camera? We do shit like that. Ig-nor-ant. Or jump niggas. No such thing as a fair one anymore. Fuckin’ punks.

When I read that Rush Limbaugh story there’s only one other person that came to mind: Bill O’Reilly. It’s funny how much dirt these guys sweep under the rug while attempting to disect someone else’s culture. But let me fuck with yall minds for a minute. Even though Bill is probably a pure racist and will go to any extent to exploit us… do you think him saying that rap protrays negativity is really THAT bad? Think about this: him shedding light on that should put a fire under us and prove to him that hip hop isn’t all negative. Right? So in doing that he would actually help us in a sense to get exposure and actually change things. But, do you think the cracker mofos who own these media outlets really want hip hop to change for the better? Hell to the nah. So instead of him just minding his own business, he took a chance to put Dame and Cam on his show to get a rise out of us. And even had a Muslim teacher via satellite from Philly to speak out against it. Now, I know I’m gonna catch flack for this, but I think that was actually a positive thing. And it’s funny right after that happened he gets caught with this sex scandal. Now, I’m not saying that Bill is innocent in his endeavors. I mean, I’m sure he malicious intent when he caused Luda to lose millions with Pepsi. But being that he was PROBABLY sexually involoved with that woman all along, don’t you find it strange they brought it to light after the whole Luda and Dame situation? Do you think the button pushers (aka rich ass white guys) at these labels had something to do with him being fired? I mean, I’m sure what happened to him was just Karma for his negativity. All I’m saying, it’s something to think about. But anyway, fuck Rush Limb and Bill… hope they get/got what they deserve.

  79. Plug industries AKA the Regulator Says:

Reggaeton dude, This is the time when you call up your old flames, or X girlfriends of hip hop. Toss in the paid in Full or a classic wu cd. This always helps during a hip hop drought. I got the Aziatic playing right now

  80. E From BK Says:

    @reggaetonslasher

I hear you homie. I definitely limit my “radio” interraction. As a matter of fact, I mostly listen to CDs. I love my old school reggae, my latin, my jazz and old school R&B, however, I need my Hip Hop fix so I mostly listen to old school. When I need something more current like this morning I pull out shit like Immortal Technique.

    @J

I too agree that it would be hot if she had Chuck or KRS, but I believe that Oprah has done enough that she does not have to validate herself. It seems like that if she showed these rappers love then people would be like; Yo, Oprah is mad cool. She’s so hood! Oprah is mad cool because of all of her accomplishments and her philanthropy period. I refuse to disrespect a sister with the history that she has.

  81. MadeInMilwaukee Says:

For Oprah to be in the position she is in and not do more to help her people is sad. She has the power and the influence to make changes in the community and she doesn’t, For someone of her stature to just cut checks is not enough. She needs to become one of the faces of change within the community.

  82. Stephen C. Says:

    NEW ALBUM: DEF JAM PRESENTS
Track List (not sure of order)

    INTRO: JAY-Z
Starts off with jay walking into his office at def jem. In the background you hear different def jam workers saying “Good Morning Mr. Carter’’ . His secretary informs him off a couple of meetings he has with several def jam artists and with LA Reid. J acknowledges and asks, Is Mr. Jones is here”…The secretary says, “Yes, he’s in your office.” Jay walks in his office and greets Nas. They exchange a couple of daps and sit down…Then you hear J ask, “You ready to do this?”, and Nas says, “No doubt, lets due this…

1.) Kings of New York: (Jay-Z, Nas)
Nas and Jay rip into the next song dissing Cam’ron, and claiming their king of New-york status…The chorus has a dj scrathcing biggie vocals, saying “The king of New York.” Cam’ron’s career is ended immediatly.

2.) Brother from Another: (Redman, Method Man)
At the end of the song, they plug a full-album collaboration they’re working on, called (”The Red Method”, or so a high-ass sounding Redman says, then you hear Meth in the background saying it’s gonna be called, “The Method Red”…), slated to come out after Red’s new album
    Produced by Rockwilder

3.) Shakey Dog II: (Ghostface) ( continued version)

4.) Hustle Hard: (Young Jeezy ft. Rick Ross) off Jeezy upcoming album

5.) The Dynasty: (Freeway, Beanie Sigel, Memphis Bleek, Young Gunz,Peedi Crack)
    produced by Just Blaze
Surprisingly good song, everybody plays to their strenghs…Memphis Bleek finally gets a good look, with a nice 16…Young guns go back and forth in a Styles/Kiss type fashion…throwing some money mike disses out there.

6.) Never Left You: (The Lox) Produced by Swizz Beats
Starts off with Jadakiss and his trademark laugh…saying “D-block, we in here. Badboy What up, Interscope What up.” You can here Jigga in the background wit his adlibs, before he says “You can gone’ and brush your shoulders off, you home kid…Let’s go!”

7.) Back in 95′: (Nas ft. Black Thought and The Roots Band)
This song has both MC’s reminiscing of the times back in 95, when rap was at its best. Mixing their verses with lines from classic songs during that time period.

8.) Back for Mine: (LL Cool J)
A re-energized LL Cool J, spittin with the same intensity he had on Can-I-Bus. Claiming to be the greatest of all time.

9.) Bad Gal: (Foxy Brown, Rihanna)
Foxy rips through two versus, with Rihanna on the hook. Inspired by the Jay and Nas move on Cam she goes for the jugular on Lil’ Kim.

    10.) Breakin the Devil’s Dishes: (Fabolous,Jay-Z)
Only two versus, but this is kinda a Brooklyn torch passing thing. Fabolus is at his best with the punchlines…Jiggas flow is damn near ridiculous

    11.) Street S@#%: (Joe Budden,Sam Scarfo)
Nice Track, makes you wonder Y Def Jam won’t release his CD…Not to worry, Joe sums it all up , and even gives a release date

12.) Untitled (N.O.R.E. feat Hector Bambino)

13.) Like That: (Ludacris feat. Tierra Marie) produced kanye
Luda has Tierra signing some NC-17 stuff. The Beat is produced by Kanye, and is off the wall. Luda experiments with different flows, matching the rythem and inpatter of several instrument s in the song

    14.) La Familia: (Tru-Life, Aztek)
These two represent for Roc La Familia. Showing and proving that the new-label packs some lyrical heat.

    15. Outro: (Jay-Z)
Jay-Z walks into LA Reid’s office…and they talk about of couple of projects…Talkin about release dates…claiming that this would be the year for albums from Joe Budden, Redman, Nas, The Lox, Foxy Brown, Rick Ross, Fabolous..they end the conversation with LA asking Jay if he was planning on relasing any new material…jay kinda shrugs it off, and say’ “Never say Never.)

16.) Bonus Song: (Kanye West, Nas, Jay-Z): We Major Remix
Kanye starts off by saying… “Never say Never, Niggas…He’s back!” Jigga rips into the first verse, only to have Nas come in from no where, after like 8 bars. The two go back and forth, with Kanye on the hook…at the end of the song, Kanye annouces, “Look out for that new jigga album, You know i’m producing that right!…It’s the Roc…Defjam, Bitches!

    It was all a dream…

  83. J Says:

Just because she doesn’t shout out what she does from the roof tops and dress up as santa claus delievering turkey’s / expensive gifts, with a photographer in tow each Christmas, it doesn’t mean that she’s not actively involved within the community. Plus she also makes regular trips to South Africa visiting Aids / poverty stricken townships, helping to build hospitals and schools. For anyone to accuse this woman of not caring about the black communities living in the US and overseas is just plain wrong.

    Thats just redunkulous

Not saying that but you take care of home before anywhere else. Really I don’t think people wanr celebs to take of them but if you have criticism you should provide some kind of solution. Help others to get into a position where they can help others. Teach them how to fish vs. giving them fish to eat.

There is a problem with the reasoning regarding Oprah.

Oprah’s fans are women, mostly white, with some negroes asians and latino’s thrown in for good measure.

The majority of hip hop fans are white, be it back packer suburb, urban cat artist, wanna be etc.

Oprah like Bill has a right not to like some of this sh*t.
    It is a generational difference.

Pertaining to Kuda’s criticism, At the end of the day, its her show, she can cut it as she see’s fit.
Ludacris assented to ALLOWING HER to represent him the way that she wanted to.
He has THE RIGHT NOT to go on the show.

Case in point. You will not move your product in this country, at least in a substancial way if you don’t sell to the majority, D-Boys, know it, Oprah knows it and Jay Z knows it.
Oprah nor Hip Hop, Nor 50 would be where he is to day without white mommas and their children.

So if O is a sellout then so is 50.

I am pro gat, I understand the importance of violence, however I have never seen anything as poisonous as his video game. Talk about giving little (white boys) the opportunity to be vicarously black through entertainment.

What is worse, Oprahs perceived lack of involvement with the black community, which is debateable or 50′s wealth built largely on poison?

We should not force ourselves to conform to an audience that only deals with us for profit. We should be smart enough to not comprimise ourselves for the sake of mainstream acceptance. We are the creative force driving this art form, yet reap little to no benefits. A million dollars is peanuts in a multi-billion dollars industry.

    ================================================
In fantasy land that would be great, but in this real world it is nonsense. Isn’t that the debate that goes on in here all the time? People are always talking about who is going platinum or who has the most spins and shit like that. What does going platinum mean? It means you have a huge audience. How did you get that audience? Probably by catering to them in some sort of manner. Let’s remember that this is a capitalist society. I would love for a cat to sell millions of records just off the strength that he is nice at what he does. Let’s face it, as nice as Jay is lyrically it wouldn’t mean shit if he did not ride around in a Bent or talk about how much bread he has.
