Jay-Z Loves Nas And Vice Versa
Last week MTV, like they always do about this time, sparked a huge, futile debate within the internet hip hop pundit community when they released their 10 Greatest M.C.’s of All Time list.
They also asked several hip hop greats who they considered as their own personal G.O.A.T.’s and the answers are now up at MTV.com for all to see.
Here are some of the more interesting highlights:
- Jay and Nas both have each other on their lists. Awwwwhhh…isn’t that cute.
- Rakim mentioned Sadat X and Eminem
- Mary J’s list included Black Moon. Who knew?
- Not surprisingly, Nas’s list includes 2 M.C.s he didn’t get along with when they were alive, Biggie and Tupac. He also mentioned Jadakiss and Grand Puba among his favorites.
- Lloyd Banks’ list includes 50 Cent. Awwwwhhh…wasn’t that sweet of him.
- The first name Big Daddy Kane mentioned was Bumpy Knuckles (Freddie Foxx)?!
- DMX and Jay-Z made Ice Cube’s list
- 50 Cent said and I quote: "Everything about [Rakim], his whole swagger — he gave birth to Nas, damn near. Nas is dope, [too]."
Rakim was easily the most mentioned name by all the artists they spoke to, for obvious reasons. KRS was right behind him and Kane, Chuck D, Biggie, Nas and Jay-Z also did pretty good on all of the lists.

you can’t rely on other rappers to make an all time list. Cause usually their picks are a lil off. Not that it is bad it’s just they probably have insider info, and may have a different perspective on things where it is not so concrete.
Like with them, they might consider different factors than a proffesional or real hip hop critic.
Cause sometimes I have heard some nice mc’s mention some questionable top ten choices. So sometimes I am like do they know something I dont know, or do they just view the game a lil different since they are involved in it.
ex. the ice cube one. Dmx? hmmm…

Black Moon isn’t an obscure reference so I why would you give Mary props for that, she was recording music back when ‘Who Got the Props’ was blowing up. She’s been out there for more than a minute now.
50 and Nas always say they have love for the other, this isn’t new. Their beef is wack, Nas is stubborn and wont admit to being the one to start it at his central park concert. They took half harted shots at each other anyways, Piggybank and MC Burial were hardly going hard at the other.
Jay did make me laugh by mentioning Sigel and not Bleek. Straight Roc-A-Scenes momment. Surprised dude aint mentioned Freeway and Peedi too.
Choices were alright pretty much if you ask me. People like different shit, makes sense.

the best albums in 05 were in my opinion
1) mood music 2 ( i know its a mixtape not what your looking for but i cant ignore it shits too good and im too big of a buddens stan )
2) the documentary – yea maybe this was the one good thing 50 did do recently but i expected to hat this album as i hated the game at this point but the album was a damn near classic and thats thanks to em and dre and game really stepping his game up the album is much deeper than hate it or love it or how we do those are actually some of my least favorite songs from the album.
3) kanye – late regristration ( im not a huge kanye fan but he is that dude i love to hate but cant cause i love what he makes ) the album was sick
4) common – be
5) az – awol
6) gza and dj muggs – grandmasters
from there on it starts to get a little fuzzy i liked the jeezy cd i liked some others im also having a hard time figuring out what studio albums dropped. it seems like i never buy studio cd’s anymore i buy mixtapes 90% of the time
