Me and Ghost.
1. No songs to skip.
2. Vivid Imagery. Sophisticated Gun Talk. CHambers and Darts.
3. Everytime you listen to it you hear “something new and clever”.

April 3rd, 2006 at 2:00 pm
I heard his album from my bot emilio sparks a dj from S.I. and this shit is off the hook BUT we all know this shit will not sell……very unfortunate!!!!
April 3rd, 2006 at 2:17 pm
eskay:
I changed my name to Kryptonite but was orginally Mr. Ga.
No im not mad at ghostface because he dissed d4l. The fact that trashy hip hop comes from all regions why did he haft to come at some niggas from the south. Back in the day outkast had problems with them same dudes. I remeber im xxL issue about the south is winning Big Boi said it was at this point(Earlier in the decade) that artists and fans of artists in The South stopped giving a fuck about what others thought of our music because obviously in the case of Outkast, it didn’t matter what we were coming with.
So in the esense if the south is running things commerically and you have a problem with it. I guess you wont have a problem with with JA, 50, and 50 cent.
Typical mindstate of a biased east coast hip hop critic.
Mark my words when I say this if it wasn’t for the south there would be not hip hop, and I can prove it.
Peace

Kryptonite,
You’re obviously new around here because otherwise you wold know that I can’t stand 50 or Ja Rule. I will say though for those of you Southerners who think commercial success actually means something that 50 is the top selling rap artist out right now.
If your not mad at Ghost cuz of the D4L shit than why are you mad?

A-YOOOOOOOO………I got the Album, but $31.99 for that TEE………. I would cop it, but for that corny looking Tee, it better come with a copy of the Ghost Album.
April 3rd, 2006 at 3:07 pm
IRONMAN STRIKES AGAIN!!!!! of course the album is near classic.. the thoughts that keeps popping into my head is how rejuvenated and hungry Cappadonna sounds on “Dogs of War”, “Jellyfish”, and “9 Milli Bros.” And what happened to Inspectah Deck’s voice? I almost didnt recognize his verse on 9 Milli Bros. Also something doesn’t seem right with rae and ghost, because even thought Rae is still Rae (his spit on R.A.G.U. is virtuoso MC-ing), he seems a little bored as he and Ghost dont seem to have the same chemistry as on Cuban Linx. This might be nitpicking because this album is still greatness. Get money Starks……WUTANG FOREVER…..
April 3rd, 2006 at 3:35 pm
I listened to Ghost here and there but nothing substantial..this album made me go back and get all his other albums and listen in awe..wish id done it sooner.
April 3rd, 2006 at 3:35 pm
Ehh-everyone loves to say they love Ghostface, but who actually gives any of his past few cd’s repeated listens? I’ve got love for Ghostface and his bathrobes and giant gold eagle as much as the next old schooler, but shoot, nowadays he’s like the loveable uncle at the party who keeps telling the same stories over and over again (not that there’s anything wrong with that).
April 3rd, 2006 at 3:45 pm

JK - IRONMAN AND SUPREME CLIENTELE STILL STAY HEAVY IN MY ROTATION TO THIS DAY, IM A FIEND SO I ALWAYS NEED THAT NEW SHIT BUT IM STILL BUMP THE SHIT THAT REALLY MADE ME LOVE THIS HIP-HOP SHIT AND THOSE 2 ALBUMS ARE DEFINTELY A BIG REASON WHY
April 3rd, 2006 at 3:50 pm
i see you JK, because as much as i love WU, i catch myself forgetting i have some of their recent solo joints (except the slept on, “Masta Killa-No Said Date”) , BUT Ghost does consistently put out great product. But still, i’m lmao at the “lovable uncle” analogy, very accurate….
April 3rd, 2006 at 3:52 pm
I stay bumping Supreme Clientele, what are you talking about
April 3rd, 2006 at 4:02 pm
…and why is everyone so hard on the “Pretty Toney” joint??? “Be This Way” and “Beat the Clock” was some of ghost’s best shit. And yes supreme clientele does stay in steady rotation
April 3rd, 2006 at 4:12 pm
Oh okay, my apologies all you fans who still have to have your Ghostface fixes–so what’s heavy rotation for you? Seriously, tell the truth. Cause I once dated (female here) a supposed MASSIVE Ghostface fan and I think the entire time we were together–over two years, I heard him play Ghostface maybe three times. Like he’d immediately buy the new cd, listen to it and that’d be that, never again. Jay-Z on the other hand–his shit got played all the time, new shit, it didn’t matter.
April 3rd, 2006 at 4:27 pm
JK - GHOST,PAC,JAY-Z,BUDDENS, OLD NAS,BIG L, GANGSTAR,DE LA, BIG ALL GET PLAYED PRETTY MUCH EVERY WEEK FOR ME I GOT DIFFERENT MUSIC AT HOME AND AT WORK AND IN MY CAR I SWITCH IT UP I DEFINTELY LISTENED TO IRONMAN THIS WEEKEND ( I FEEL YOU ABOUT PEOPLE CLAIMING TO BE HUGE FANS BUT NEVER REALLY BUMPING IT ) I ALWAYS LIKE TO FEEL LIKE IM IN THE WAY BACK MACHINE AND TAKE IT BACK WITH SOME CLASSIC HIP-HOP, USUALLY UNLESS BUDDENS OR JAY JUST CAME OUT WITH SOME NEW CRAZY SHIT I USUALLY THROW SOMETHING LIKE SUPREME CLIENTELE IRONMAN LIQUID SWORDS PAC OR GANGSTARR TO LISTEN TO WHILE I HIT MY L AND GET DRESSED SO I CAN START MY DAY RIGHT.

@Kryptonite
Regardless of the fact that there were people early on from different regions that had an influence on Hip Hop pioneers, the fact of the matter is the concept of “Hip Hop” comes from one place. You spewing that Hip Hop would not be here if it were not for the South is ridiculous. It’s almost like when White people run around claiming inventions that actually belong to Black inventors. It’s like when you go to church and they have you praying to a White Jesus when you know for a fact that Jesus is Black. Come on homie. You MUST be new to this site because this blog for the most part is full of Hip Hop lovers who appreciate skill. If you are in GA I’m sure you know that the radio there only plays bullshit. Now if you like that b.s. I can understand you being offended. Normally when the dislike for South music is mentioned, it’s not for T.I. and people like him. It’s for D4L and Dem Franchise Boyz.
April 3rd, 2006 at 6:34 pm
Well Why Not Be More Specific? Instead Of Just Saying ‘the south?’ The Majority Of People From The North Have Southern Roots Including P Ricans, Haitians, Jamaicans Ect. Dont Matter If Its Not Southern American.

I might be hated for this, but maybe a “one post per [insert time in here] system” going, it would be less clutter and save your bandwidth that keeps going. Alot of these arguments are pointless. Most, not all, but most southern Hip-Hop is wack. If you haven’t figured that out by now …off yourself.

tyronebiggums71 your up first:
First off, your dreadful written expression already killed you. Now to come at a dude with his own thoughts and ideas about something as simple as hip hop is being a bitch nigga within itself. I write from a down south prespective that piss biased niggas like you off and get you all bitched up. So don’t you dare come at me with your lack of knowledge of a southern perspective
.E From BK your next:
If your dumbass knew anything about hip hop you would know denying hip hop from other localties is denying what hip hop is. But your a hip hop lover, don’t love it too much. Maybe thats why yall hit bottom rock.

Jaz=The element of hip hop.

KRYPTONITE -
ELEMENTS OF ANYTHING CAN BE TRACED BACK TO SOMETHING ELSE YOU RETARDED FUCK. ELEMENTS OF ALL MAN CAME FROM AFRICA SO THEN YOU WANT TO INTO IT LIKE THAT, THEN THE ELEMENTS FOR HIP-HOP AND EVERYTHING STARTED IN AFRICA, BUT UNLESS YOUR GOING BY THAT THINKING HIP-HOP STARTED IN THE BRONX GET SOME NEW TAMPONS AND GET OVER IT. I GOT LOVE FOR THE SOUTH BUT HATE MOTHERFUCKERS LIKE YOU YOU PROBABLY JUST LIKE THE YING YANG TWINS LIL FLIP ALL THAT GARBAGE MAN AND IF YOU CAN HONESTLY SUPPORT ANY OF THAT GARBAGE THEN GET THE FUCK OFF THIS SITE ITS NOT FOR YOU THIS IS FOR REAL HIP-HOP, AND SHIT ILL EVEN THROW THESE 50 STANS A BONE AND SAY ID RATHER LISTEN TO HIM ALL DAY THEN DEM FRANCHISE BOYZ OR ANY OF THAT GARBAGE.
MOTHERFUCKER SAID HE WOULD TELL US HOW HIP-HOP STARTED IN THE SOUTH AND HE SAYS JAZZ NEW ORLEANS ITS AN ELEMENT OF HIP-HOP DONT YOU THINK MAYBE TRIBAL DRUMS IS MORE OF AN ELEMENT TO HIP-HOP, BUT HIP-HOP WAS FORMED AND CREATED ON THE STREETS OF THE BRONX BANGING ON THE CONCRETE. SHIT MARLEY MARL WONT EVEN ARGUE THAT
April 4th, 2006 at 11:30 am
To: tyronebiggums71
I never said I listened to the Ying Yang Twins had your dumbas read the comment.
And please don’t get my shit twisted. Although I speak from a down south perspective,as a man born in VA, raised in NJ and recently lives in GA don’t assume I don’t know shit outside southern rap.
What I really hate is the lack of respect given to other regions who appreciated New York’s creation and tried to make it more grounded to their particular situation.
You niggas say Hip Hop started in africa then get in a bitch argument about how it started in NY.
Im currently working on my 2nd book “It Started In The South” to give southern rap it’s overdue respect. What the fuck are you doing?
Willing to go back and forth over some shit as simple as hip hop.
To:T.Soprano (Part of the New New York Movement)
Do you really expect me to take you seriously?
I don’t get it New Yorkers!!! Why do you have to be from New York, where hip-hop spawned, to be a classic MC? The Motown sound originated in Detroit. Did people in Detroit respect Ray Charles less because he was from North Florida? Hell no! Jazz originated in New Orleans. Did people in the South respect Duke Ellington less because he made the Harlem Renaissance sound famous? No!!! Why then do New York hip-hop niggass never give as much credit and respect to artists from other localities as you do your own?
To sum it all up, I’ll go over some key points. 1. To be rated highly by an East Coast hip-hop critic you must be from the East Coast. No ands, ifs, or buts about that. 2. You had to have received a lot of play on NY radio, which is hypocritical seeing how they have and still do refuse to play songs from other regions. 3. According to New York critics, the number of record sales you make and airplay you receive goes into your consideration for “best MC†only if you are from NY (as they have done for their latest savior Jay-Z).
April 4th, 2006 at 11:33 am
East Coast folk are always wondering what happened to their dominance. Shit, it’s the record companies fault more so than your boring attempt to be crunk. They tell your artists what they need to put out, when they have to put it out, and all sorts of other things that take creative control away from your artists. Until your artists learn to do things on their own and stop needing some daddy-type figure in the record companies to do their selling for them, go on ahead and get used to the art-form you created never being back in your hands…
April 4th, 2006 at 11:36 am
think the saying goes a nation divided against itself cannot stand. New York has been divided since Biggie’s death with rappers trying to take his place. While New York MC’s were so busy hating on each other, the South slipped right into the driver’s seat. I fathom where hip-hop will go now due to this one reconciliation. First of all, if Nas and Jigga put out an Outkast type collaboration album, it could possibly be the highest grossing album of all time. I can’t stand Jay-Z (even though post-retirement Jigga is growing on me like mold), but y’all know I’ll get that album just because of Nas. Whatever criticisms I’ve had with Jigga’s career, I guarantee you there will not be a “Laffy Taffy” like-track on that album.
April 4th, 2006 at 11:38 am
TO my down south peopleDon’t just sit around and watch everybody forget about us like West Coast hip-hop. Start diversifying now. Understand that the power of words can have the same power as that of beats. East Coast MC’s had the head start on lyrics because their producers suck and in order to have had a hit song, you better had been talking about something. Maybe even I need to start writing some Mos Def type rhymes or something seeing how I could never be a gangsta rapper.
T
hose old school East Coast MC’s such as Nas, Rakim, Big, etc. studied dictionaries to be crowned most lyrical/metaphorical.
April 4th, 2006 at 11:45 am
Kryptonite is right. new york is a bunch of theifs and deceivers. if jazz started in the south and jazz is a element of hip hop. then the south was the ORGINATOR. like i always be saying i really don’t care about the next big thing out of new york. because of they lack of respect for other regions.
“The south in my opinion is the essense of music itself”

KRYPONITE CAME IN HERE TALKING HIP-HOP STARTED IN THE SOUTH. So it’s mostly the females and white people that support that shit.

I didn’t know what ghostface said but cats in the South be saying a lot of NY rappers be dissing the south and Ghostface name came up.
April 4th, 2006 at 12:36 pm
So 50, and Dipset are the only NY shit that gets played in the south.
April 4th, 2006 at 12:36 pm
When did saigon say “FUCK THE SOUTH†and who is saigon?
he did an interview where he took some shots at certain southern artist and the interviewer made it more into a “fuck the south” than saigon meant to.
saigon is an up and comer ( has been forever now it seems ) from ny if you have ever seen the show entourage on hbo he is the rapper at the end of season 2 he is pretty damn nice and if you like nas and rakim you should really check for dude, he runs off reckless at the mouth somtimes but his skills are nice, go to mixunit.com or mixtapekingz.com and you can get some shit from him made cheap or e-mail eskay and ask him to hook something up he might just do it if you will go cop the ghost album that is

Kryptonite,
How are you gonna tell us what they play on HOt97 if your not here? Don’t believe us? See for yourself:

The radio stations in the south just play 50, Ja Rule, Dipset, and shit like that.
You rarley hear Nas, Jay z, Ghostface etc..
its the same here excaept no ja anymore, but we have tons of ying-yang dem franchize boyz, now dont get me wrong they play some t.i. and jeezy but not as much as the garbage but i guess thats just the same everywhere then all the radios are playing the same trash and after all this argueing we find out we really agree
ghost did a concert i believe it was in atl where he dissed laffy taffy and said fuck all this bullshit bubblegum rap we want real hip-hop and had the dj start playing “the bridge is over” and “eric b for president” he didnt diss the south at all.
its the new cats (tru-life and saigon ) who are having trouble getting their albums released because the labels dont see the same sales potential as they do from the gimmicks so the real hip-hop gets pushed back to the shelevs so i cant blame them for getting mad, they just need to clarify themseleves better and not generalize it as the south fault cause ive said before and ill say agian puffy and mase shiney suit era was the downfall of hip-hop then came nelly and it was a wrap the gimmick was on
April 4th, 2006 at 12:42 pm
and look at you, you didn’t even know what Ghost said and you got all emotional.
April 4th, 2006 at 12:45 pm
ESKAY - if the kryptonite asks you got some saigon to give to him? i think he deserves it/ the biggest thing is the misunderstanding and communications cause me and this dude just kept argueing to figure out we basically mean the same shit

yeah but not on me right now. But yo homey seems like he had a revelation but I still think he has some schooling coming to him if he thinks the South had anything to do with the beginning of hip hop. Jazz? what does Southern Jazz have to do with a Jamaican Kool Herc spinning breaks in the Bronx? Get real. and he said he’s writing a book about the subject? Wow…
April 4th, 2006 at 12:53 pm
Ill definetly get the Ghost album.
I just hope all this region hattin dosent turn into a regional war, like that West vs East shit.
There is igronance every where. I was in Houston last month and those cats be like ” it’s all about tha durty durty fuck NY”
Same with NY, I saw that show the shop on MTV when some dude in Ny said that wack rappers come from houston and paul wall was sittin right there.
A couple of months ago I was at club 112 in atl and some Ny cat said sometiing about playing some prophase and almost got his ass kicked.
This region shit is childish!

Jazz is an element of hip and so is R&B and Rock N roll and so is James Brown, George clinton. We in the south feel we did contribute to hip hop and the lack of respect pisses most southerns off.

All readers know that what England@Represent just put up would normally warrant a thorough breakdown on his ignorance…
But, knowing that his ass is from England, I could never get too pissed off because of that cute British Accent (which ironically, no one can understand) that comes off even in his writing. As hard as he tried to make his baseless point, I couldn’t get past the fact that he’s probably enjoying an “after-supper tea” right now. LOL!
I was in London a couple of years back. Had a blast! The people are so nice! So sorry England Represent, but I can’t really take your shit seriously because you are from Britain. Stay up though! Peace brotha (if you’re even of African descent being from Britain and all)…

People should be open minded and listen to more than what their ears want to hear. Like some east coast music dosen’t make me dance but I still like it.
Down south usic and carribean music both make people dance. Other forms of music are just for listening to into headphones. But that Carribean and Down south music make the ladies dance.
April 4th, 2006 at 1:44 pm
Kryptonite
For Southern parties where you want a girl to turn around and bend over
lmfaooo!!!that’s dancing? i feel sorry for dumb chicks that embarrass themselves in clubs. all my east coast ladies know that when we dance we are sexy with it, not slutty. when we dance to hip hop we have a lot of carribean and latino influence, especially in new york. any dumb bitch who plays herself and lets a nigga violate her like that can keep that shit you call “dancing”.
this is all i’ll really say to you because frankly, your post didnt interest me. WE DANCE TO EAST COAST HIP_HOP. nobody made it for YOU to dance to it. i dont know how the carribean music and southern music are similar. my mom is from trinidad and my dad is from jamaica. as a native new yorker (we have the largest west indian population in the U.S.) its safe to say, DONT COMPARE THE TWO. we dance to A LOT of dancehall, reggae, and soca in new york. that plays in the clubs a lot. as a carribean amercian, DONT COMPARE OUR MUSIC.
April 4th, 2006 at 1:47 pm
To: MISS QUEENBRGE
Nobody was comparing the Southern Hip-Hop and Caribbean music, had your dumbass read the posts, you would have seen all I said is that they both make people dance.
Unless you’re gonna sit up here and tell me that you’d rather dance “and be sexy with it” to Craig Mack over some Wayne Wonder, David Banner, or Sean Paul circa 2000’s Stage One…
And why is it that anytime I come up to NY to stay with Pops, I’m getting my ass thrown up against the wall in the same Caribbean clubs you speak of and getting the same grind, albeit slower and more personal, that I get at A. All the Southern clubs and B. All the Caribbean clubs down South?
You’re prolly one of the tricks I talk about thinking you’re too cute with a Long Island in your hand on the wall or some shit…
Girls like you get on everyone’s nerves regardless of region, East, West, South, etc.

seriously show us the quote where either of us said we stop listening once they stat selling, ill do this again my favorite rapper ever is PAC the number one selling hip-hop artist ever, jay-z is probably my second favorite right now, i am a big eminem fan ( just not his last album ) we all know hoe he sells, but he is a perfect example he doesnt have that same anger, drive and hunger that made him so fucking sick. most rappers change once they start to sell thats a fact i liked 50 when i thought he was trying to rid the world of ja not just become ja on steriods. and i believe we have all clarified which part of the south we like and dont like we got that covered and i think kyrponite understands exactly where im coming from now you on the other hand go hang out with that jade star bitch you like hanging on my nuts so much, who really tries to be a killer of a made up blog name??? how fucking pathetic is that you fucking internet stalker and you got nerve to talk reckless like that, if you my killer than come kill me dog if not ( which we all know is the case ) give up your a fucking joke damn. fucking loser go to school and learn to read
April 4th, 2006 at 8:31 pm
@Kryptonite
You are a real disrespectful dude. Why would you call me a dumbass? That shows that you are probably around 19 years old. I am not trying to keep Hip Hop from any region. You made an absurd statement that if it were not for the South there would be no Hip Hop. All I said was that the pioneers of Hip Hop may have influences from other genres of music, but Hip Hop itself was born in NY. That is a fact! Keep your insults to yourself unless you you are thorough. If you are thorough then make yourself known. I hate these bitch made fuckas!
April 5th, 2006 at 5:27 am
98.9 percent of hip-hop is straight garbage right now, I don’t give a fuck where they’re from! Everywhere you look you see white people bafooning hip-hop whether it be a McDonald’s or Sprite commercial or an episode of the Sopranos. Basically white people are laughing at us; most of them think that all hip-hop is ignorant and stupid; and the majority of rappers are just adding fuel to the fire. I’m from Brooklyn, but I’ve lived in the South and in Europe, and I can tell you its always one or two artist who are truly gifted from each region. Who gives a fuck where it started, there is a white dude from Israel who controls it, while us dumb as niggas bicker about Young Jeezy and Ghostface, and that’s exactly the way he likes it; keep our minds occupied with stupid shit while he and his pals are at the golf course laughing at “all” of us counting “our” money (” Yeah let these niggers kill each other for the crumbs off our tables while we eat steak and lobster, stupid monkeys”). You think they give a fuck where a nigga is from; hell fuck no!!

Me saying that the south contributed to hip hop is just my opinion. Yes, you may disagree but its my mind and my thoughts. It will never change until someone can convince me otherwise. Im not a “Bitch made Fuck” I just write from a southern perspective than niggas like you insult before speaking your igronant ass minds. How am I trying to act though Im going to law school next summer. People in the south have different mindstates than you up-topers so deal with it.
My new book comming out soon “It Started In The South”.

@MEGA’
Tupac (Oakland, Baltimore?) Are you kidding me. I thought everybody knew the Pac was from NY. Not some just born there shit either. He did not go to Baltimore until like the 9th or 10th grade. He did not go to Cali until he was like 18. As a matter of fact, if you listened to any of his albums you would know that he had songs dedicated to his home state. Did you not know his first emcee name is MC NY?
April 5th, 2006 at 8:07 am

I agree!
My favorite rappers in order are:

Your just trying to stir the internet ‘atl vs new york’ pot a little more! Why dont you fuckin chill son, your a lawyer right talk about how over 12000 katrina victims are getting kicked out of hotels right, or corretta scott king, TD jakes nigga something other than how you hate hip hop purist. And what the fuck is wrong with knowing your hip hop history prick? Its ours. If we dont know it whos gonna reiterate this vital info 10-15 yrs down the road, cause it does matter. What you wanna erase it and start over cause the south is getting shine now?
What you vex cause almighty ATL or the south aint mentioned in the origins of this shit or is it the fact that its ALL NYC history that pisses you off? You niggas may not rhyme about killing each other and rocks or whatever YOU think NYC is all about, but what your trying to do is destroy what hip hop means and what it has always meant just because the ball is in your court right now, like it aint real for blacks EVERYWHERE. Fuck your hood, like I say fuck mine, they got us trapped and locked in these ‘hoods’ pitting us against each other glorifing the life we are forced to live just for entertainment and they dont care where your from….shit your the one who has more of a voice than I do, use your fucking brain and this forum to start talking for real chump, fuck your cry baby talk….

Homie, I’m not trying to stir up anything…
I just write from a perspective you’re not used to seeing and you, like so many of your illogical-minded brethren, take the shit personally due to what I assume to be a mixture of envy, misunderstanding, and laziness to read further than the thoughts of mine that piss you off. Now, I don’t need to insult your intelligence, because your horrid writing presentation did that number for you…
You’re so worried about me, a dude that’s trying to write about issues affecting black people from a Southern Perspective, what the fuck are you doing?
I’m going to law school this upcoming fall to help my people, so “don’t you dare” insult me with your inability to read and more importantly grasp some of the concepts I write about on this page.
Use them to better yourself and widen your conceptual horizons outside of your own limited life experiences.
“Fuck Your Brain and Fuck this and that”… Very original my friend… There’s a saying young brotha that vulgar profanity is the attempt of a weak mind to express itself forcefully…
So two quick words of advice, one, purchase a thesaurus. Two, if you’re not fond of Southern Hip-Hop, you’d look less moronic if you were to just leave one of the most self-humiliating comments yet!
Peace
April 5th, 2006 at 8:40 am
And you calling people dumbass is enlightening?
April 5th, 2006 at 8:55 am
Why would anybody buy your book? The title alone is far fetched and now that I hear your point of view it’s a definite non factor. You are a very immature individual. You continue to insult people where insults are not warranted. What this shows is your lack of compelling testimony so you now have to redirect towards something that is not even relevant. STICK TO THE FACTS! Mention whoever you want to mention: Muddy Waters, James Brown, Monk, hell even Elvis, but the bottom line is that Hip Hop as a complete concept was birthed in a particular region. There is no ifs ands or buts about it. Nobody is downing the South. You are the one causing the divide by not being truthful. Many posts ago it has been stated was was liked and what was not liked musically. You cannot rewrite history! It’s too soon for it to be lied about. The way they rewrote Jesus, the way the rewrote the origins of the sciences, math, and the arts. You can’t do it! Also, it’s funny how you mentioned your law degree. I’m proud that there is another brother infiltrating the judicial system but it means nothing unless you use it to uplift. The way you insult people, you are not uplifting. You need to get that right. Also, just because you are in law school it does not make you more knowledgeable about everything.
April 5th, 2006 at 8:59 am

Im not trying to rewrite history, im just trying to give respect where it is due. Your just not contempt with the fact that many people believe that redit has slipped out of history where it is due. The only thing your hatting amongst is my logical thoughts on where respect is due. Yes, I do mention names when I argue my point and they are facts. Your just pissed at the thought that the history of hip hop as a whole could possibly not be all birhed in New York. I remember watching the lyricists lounge on the “Dirty States Of America DVD†(Which you probably have not seen. Otherwise you would know what im talking about. A old school southern MC said that Ny rappers had major recording companies right next door to them. In the south we went every where and you heard our music out of the trunk. Back then most radio genere’ was based out of NY. Now that our own people host these radio stations we are more contempt with listening to our own music. Does that hurt NY no, your just getting a taste of your own medicine. Secondly, he talked about how the filming industry was big in cities like New York and L.A. a lot of down south rap was on the underground since the late 1970’s. The filming industry started in north flordia (antoher part of culture that was shipped off to ny). But anyway, we never had a chance to truly represent ourselves. How can one compare the orgins of Math and Scince to that of Hip Hop because credit was lost in the midists of this shit. I use my knowledge to write from a perspective that like many others piss you off and you go on a paragraph relay to try to convince me otherwise, that’s not a good look folk. When did I ever say you dissed the south, I just think credit is missing and nothing that your two summary pages can do to change my mind.
April 5th, 2006 at 9:34 am
Just put yourself in our shoes. Name another way to demand respect without being riduclued for trying to rewrite history. History can be proven wrong t folk, ever heard of scientific theories.

You are hilariously disillusioned! It is incredible! This is the same thing Public School has done to the African and his development(not contribution), but development to the world. Man you need to get a grip on reality. I’m not going to continually beat a dead horse because there is but one to state a fact! Look, it is what it is. You are trying to start something that is not there. I stated some of the music I like and that is FACT. Hip Hop started where it started and that is FACT! The only reason I corrected you about Luda is because you brought up an untruth and I had to show you FACT. You are not as knowledgeable as you think. You keep using the word hate. What the hell is hating? It’s cool that you are conviced Hip Hop started in the South, but not just deep down, on the surface even, you know the total truth. You are just using your point of view to pimp some of the feeble minded people who don’t know any better. The true people know where the truth is. You are just trying to capitalize off of the ignorant to help you pay for law school because you know the subject is somewhat controversial. Again, you are not as smart as you think you are. That whole tricknology shit does not work with me. I know you don’t believe half of that BS you are spouting. It’s cool though Bro. I respect your hustle. Get your money……………….but at what cost?

Off top, I can tell you are beyond ignorant trying to hide behind the metaphorical mask of a “let me appear to be intelligent”. I never mentioned rewriting history I just want credit to be giving where it is due.
You’re probably profoundly uneducated, doing absolutely nothing with your life, finding it impossible to get some ass because your menial life isn’t worth shit to any self-respecting female, and to keep the one ounce of self-esteem you still somehow mangage to hold for yourself, to ironically not give your own people credit.
well I say you should stop reading blogs and find something deeper, as in a book, that can enrich your obvious inability to critically think and/or express yourself without resorting to opion stated comments that are argumentive. History is argumentive so deal with it.

This will be the last time I respond to any of your comments just to show people how igronant you truly are. I think it’s flipped the other way aroung folk. I just wrote half of a paragraph with examples of how I think the southern rap movement has (or has always contributed to hip hop) then you go on to disagree with me without an attempt to prove yourself otherwist. Its kind of funny how you make yourself seem somewhat intelligent but don’t respond to FACTS vulgarally. Very ironic how you come at me as a dude writing from his and others like him own perspective. Then hide behind your igroonance but don’t fail to expose yourself for the ho nigga you truly are. So, until you do that peace fuckboy.
April 5th, 2006 at 10:36 am
And I wrote that.
April 5th, 2006 at 10:54 am
This is very simple people. Hip hop started in the Bronx. It had heavy Caribbean influences as well as funk and Disco.
Jazz and Blues eventually contributed to hip hop but they were by no means the catalyst.
If there was no South, there would still be hip hop.
End of discussion.
April 5th, 2006 at 11:01 am
And where did funk start.
End of discussion.
April 5th, 2006 at 11:02 am
But it’s cool though we still doing our thing reguardless of all the bashing.
April 5th, 2006 at 11:04 am
“If there was no South, there would still be hip hop.”
Your probably right but the sound of hip hop wouldn’t change
April 5th, 2006 at 11:04 am
Funk started in Jersey.
April 5th, 2006 at 11:04 am
eskay
You should do a blog about 50 dissing the south. Didn’t you hear about it.
April 5th, 2006 at 11:05 am
“Funk started in Jersey.”
LOL
April 5th, 2006 at 11:08 am
Plainfield, NJ to be exact.
April 5th, 2006 at 11:09 am
Sometimes while discussing Soul/Funk music we tend to forget that the music did not exist in a vacuum. The music was a product of the existing environment of the time in which the musicians who created it lived.. If the period of Soul is roughly defined as 1955 - 1970. It very much parallels the Civil Rights movement. I would maintain that Soul music and the Civil Rights movement had a duel impact on each other. One example that I can think of right off the top of my head is A Change Is Gonna Come by Sam Cooke. Another would be the image of Aretha Frankin singing at the funeral of Dr. King.
April 5th, 2006 at 11:09 am
If it were not for Plainfield, NJ there would be no funk.
April 5th, 2006 at 11:10 am
James Brown is funk and so is jazz. Let’s stop beating around the bush, funk started in the south.
April 5th, 2006 at 11:10 am
They won’t attack 50 because 50 defines Hip Hop for alot of people eskay.
April 5th, 2006 at 11:11 am
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Clinton_(funk_musician)
April 5th, 2006 at 11:12 am
Funk started with slaves singing in churches. It came from jazz and high pithed rock n roll.
April 5th, 2006 at 11:13 am
Your reaching Kryptonite. Because Funk may or may not have startted in the South and Hip hop drew some influnce from it, that means that if it wasn’t for the South thered be no hip hop?
Come on dog stop making ridiculous statements. yall talk about we dont wanna give yall any credit but look at you trying to take our legacy away from us.
we admit that the South contributed to hip hop, but like I said, it’d still be here without ya’ll.
April 5th, 2006 at 11:14 am
Please read that his musical creativeness is centered around Plainfield, NJ and the community at large.
April 5th, 2006 at 11:15 am
JAZZ=FUNK
Dont do this again BK lets not start this shit again.
April 5th, 2006 at 11:16 am
I’m talking th eskay not you. You are beneath me.
April 5th, 2006 at 11:16 am
George Clinton isn’t funk James Brown is. The funk influence was already celebrated around the south before he even came out.
April 5th, 2006 at 11:17 am
You already proved you are not formidable.
April 5th, 2006 at 11:18 am
50 dissing southern rappers like D4L or methaphorically the whole south is like the pot calling the kettle black.
April 5th, 2006 at 11:18 am
Where is the outrage?
April 5th, 2006 at 11:20 am

First you said the south didn’t contribute to hip hop now you saying it did. Stop beating around the bush.

gtfoh with this shit: “George Clinton isn’t funk”
April 5th, 2006 at 11:23 am
Like I say I speak from a southern perspective of black people who have managed to hold on to more of our homeland’s roots than any African-Americans elsewhere in the country were ever able to.
I believe that’s NY who has the major-label issues selling out to Bret, Samantha, and Clive Davis and getting their records pushed back like ya boy Ghost…
April 5th, 2006 at 11:25 am
^ yeah thats what I thought. you can’t point out where I said that so you resort to cheap shots @ Ghost. whatever man
Ghost > Your favorite rapper

Truth bodied Kryptonite at 8:22am, April 5th…..
April 5th, 2006 at 11:26 am
Possibly, you thought I was one of the unfortunate cases of our people that you could just go at and feel that your dick was bigger.
But don’t get it twisted, I have two undergraduate degrees from a highly respected research institution. And you???

All that education and nowhere to go!
April 5th, 2006 at 11:31 am
I HATE WHEN PEOPLE COMPARE THE SOUTH TO THE WEST.
THE WEST COAST HAS TOO MUCH OF A LEGACY TO BE PUT IN A CATEGORY WITH A BUNCH OF COONS.
THIS IS LIKE A WORLD WAR THE WEST COAST IS LIKE “GREAT BRITIAN” AND THE EAST COAST IS LIKE “THE UNITED STATES”
THE EAST AND WEST ARE JUST TRYING TO PUT HIP HOP BACK IN IT’S PROPER STATE (1990-1995)
AND DON’T GET IT TWISTED WITH THAT EAST VS WEST THING TTHE EAST AND WEST HAVE LOVE FOR EACHOTHER.
April 5th, 2006 at 11:31 am
IM DUMB TOO
I KNOW THE SOUTH DIDN’T START HIP HOP
April 5th, 2006 at 11:35 am
To the dude postin under my name
You did a WW2 reference that had nothing to do with this particular post but was obviously something you remembered from the one night back in 1998 when you had to study extremely hard one night to avoid failing your 4th course of the semester, which you probably ultimately did anyway.
Had you truly understood what you studied about WW2, you would have come at me with the U.S. and Russia alliance instead of bringing up Great Britain.
First off, Great Britain was getting their ass bombed heavily on a nightly basis by Germany and all of Churchill’s people were beyond terrified living in the U.K. at the time, so if that’s the Allied Country you used to represent the West Coast in your bullshit argument, that wouldn’t sit too well with The Westside Connection and all others who have fought for Left Coast respect.
Also, remind me again how that East Coast-West Coast Hip-Hop alliance worked back in the day? You must be a tweenie, because as far back as I can remember, it wasn’t a U.S./Great Britain-like coalition. It was a Harry Truman/Joseph Stalin like coalition which as I said, had you truly known what you tried to cite with me, you would have used Russia instead of Great Britain as your example (does the Cold War ring a bell?). Dumbass…
So, I’m assuming one of two things about you though. #1, you’re a white west coast “gangsta” who has no clue of the concept of the early 20th century Great Migration among black folk.
If I got that wrong, the only other jackass you can be is a complete and total embarrassment to your people.
So get at me Mr. Self-Loathing Coon. Otherwise, apologize to your people and don’t waste your time writing one-liners that prove and show beyond a reasonable doubt the ho ass nigga you truly are.
April 5th, 2006 at 11:37 am
“this dude is the master of irrelevant facts. stick your two degrees up your ass.”
LOL
April 5th, 2006 at 11:38 am
^ lol @ this dude dissing himself then coming back with an overzealous, irrelevant history lesson so he can look smart.
Kryptonite, care to explain why those comments about the west in ALL CAPS came from exactly the same email address and computer that you’re commenting from?
April 5th, 2006 at 11:40 am
LOL
April 5th, 2006 at 11:40 am
Your calling me names but i didn’t call you any.
To write from a perspective that makes our black people who have struggled for so long look like bammas isn’t a worthy perspective .
When you want to grab the mind of a listner you want to point out aspects that are worhty.
Just because a bunch of bammers yell loud chants into a mic does not put NY Hip Hop out of it’s credibility.
Use better logical meaning that can enrich my mind into giving THE SOUTH CREDIT..
The East and the West are trying to put hip hop back where it was 1990-1997 to it’s PROPER perspective.
What styles has the south contributed to hip hop?
Please tell me because,
pimppin started in the west, and then the bammers tryin to be gangsters.
Then they steal bay area sounds and try to put heavy bass tunes which is just old east coast beats stolen by the south.
Even Snoop Dogg said some dudes stole low ryders from the west and he couldn’t of been talkin about the east cause they aren’t even into cars like that.
And hyphy movement started way before crunk started.
Just like ATL stole that bounce from new orleans and bass from miami and new york.
The only southern city i have respect for is houston because they have their own orginal style “CHOPPED N SCREWED”.
So, don’t attack me with hurtful words homie.
The west and the east have always had love for each other it was just that death row vs. bad boy.
So don’t try to put the east and west aganist each other.
April 5th, 2006 at 11:46 am
I heard Ghostface album on BET.COM it sounds good. I just dont think it will sell as much as it should.
Shout out to Albany, GA best city in GA.

April 5th, 2006 at 12:01 pm
No doubt. I love Albany. I was out there for two weeks some years ago. There are some very friendly women out there!
April 5th, 2006 at 12:02 pm
REAL HIP HOP IS MORE OF ARTICSIC VALUES.
LIKE:
MIKE JONES REPEATING HIS NAME NOW THATS NEW AND CREATIVE.
D4L COMMING UP WITH SOMETHING NEW LIKE SNAP
HIP HOP EVOLVES IT DOES NOT STAY THE SAME
HIP HOP IS MORE OF CREATIVITY NOT LYRICALL
April 5th, 2006 at 12:02 pm
Damn eskay. You shut that cat down by simply exposing him!
April 5th, 2006 at 12:05 pm
Do you mean Albany, GA or Albany, NY because many people get them confused not saying they are the same.
The women down here are not hores, women everywhere are frendly.
April 5th, 2006 at 12:07 pm
Albany, GA
April 5th, 2006 at 12:07 pm
I haft to admit I kind of like snap music. I wouldnt call it Hip Hop its just a dance.
April 5th, 2006 at 12:09 pm
I think people should put their ears more into Albany because we have just as much quality music as ATL.
April 5th, 2006 at 12:09 pm
Not calling them whores. They just showed me a good time while I was out there. Those were my single days. I’m wearing the hardware now.

April 5th, 2006 at 3:08 pm
To be honest I never knew about Ghostface as a individual artist. I just knew Wu-Tang, and Method Man. I really loved that C.R.E.A.M. song Wu-Tang did. Thats probably why I plan to buy Fishscale. I dont really find it offending IF Ghostface dissed the south in some kind of way, people have their own thoughts.
April 5th, 2006 at 4:48 pm
Don’t get it twisted I love the NYC (all five boroughs), but just because Cool Herc threw a few records on at a block party does not mean that hip hop started in the Bronx, I don’t give a fuck what any book says. Maybe people started calling it “Hip-Hop” in the Bronx, but black people and Latino people all over the country were doing the same thing at the same time in the early 70’s. Hip hop is bigger than just New York, even though I will agree that hip hop’s greatest manifestation took place in New York. Hip Hop is not only rapping son, It’s the way you walk, the way you talk, It’s a way of life (was the first person to tag a train from the Bronx?) Hip Hop is powerful, way more powerful than any other current musical form today, that’s why devils invest major chips to water it down with ignorance. They’re extremely afraid of its power (ask Bill O’Riley). Hip Hop should be uniting us, not dividing us. Go to any major European city; Paris, London, Berlin doesn’t matter they’re all ridding our dick with this Hip Hop shit. I’ve seen -German cats with gold fronts and Yankees caps on, I’ve heard French kids calling each other “Dun”; “White” Dutch kids rockin wave caps, back spinning and shit. This shit is big B, and it belongs to all of us East, West, South or Mid-west. And oh yeah, just so you know, the south does not have a monoply on ignorance, there is just as many dumb niggas in Brooklyn, trust me I know.
April 5th, 2006 at 5:01 pm
>>just because Cool Herc threw a few records on at a block party does not mean that hip hop started in the Bronx
uh actually yeah it does.
>>I don’t give a fuck what any book says.
you should
>>Maybe people started calling it “Hip-Hop†in the Bronx, but black people and Latino people all over the country were doing the same thing at the same time in the early 70’s.
So all of the history and research that has been done on the subject means nothing. it’s all wrong. you all of a sudden pop up in 2006 with this revelation? I guess there was a conspiracy to give the Bronx the credit? come on homey. read a book. Start with Can’t Stop Won’t Stop by Jeff Chang
April 5th, 2006 at 6:04 pm
eskay, you better get up now and leave the country…..po-po is looking for you in connection with the disappearance of Kryptonite….”this dude is the master of irrelevant facts”….DAMN, i wish i would’ve said that shit….
April 5th, 2006 at 7:52 pm
@Mega
What do you think Hip Hop is?
Oh yeah, the first person to tag a train was probably from the Bronx or somewhere in NY. Can you dispute it?……………………Intelligently.
April 6th, 2006 at 5:15 am
I’m not the smartest guy in the world, but I would bet my welfare check that the worlds first tag probably originated some where along the same time of the worlds first subway which was established in London in 1863. And I don’t believe everything that I read in a book, I think for myself. I have common sense enough to come to the conclusion that thousands of people from thousands of places had records before Herc, and I’m sure that thousands of people experimented and threw parties before Herc also. Herc was just in a place where it could be documented by the media. That’s logic B! Hip Hop may have manifested itself through the numerous media outlets established in New York, but does that mean that the first person to scratch a record or throw a block party was from the Bronx that is an impossible statement to prove. I’m not debating the fact that the Bronx played a huge part in pulling it all together and presenting it to the world, but absolutely nothing you say can convince me that they were the first to do it. Stop putting labels on this culture; it’s bigger than that, that’s all I’m saying.
April 6th, 2006 at 7:49 am
That is absolutely absurd. I’m sure there was somebody that used to take a rag and wipe the floor before the mop was created, I’m sure there was light before the light bulb was invented, I’m sure there was fire before a stove was invented, I’m sure people found a way to write even before there were pens, I’m sure there was electricity before your local power company decided to charge you for it, I’m sure that they knew heat would get wrinkles out of clothes before the iron was invented. I can go on and on for days. Come on man! Don’t degregate the culture by minimilizing the founder of that culture!
April 6th, 2006 at 10:30 am
I would listen to Ghostface album, but not what he says pubically.

April 6th, 2006 at 11:54 am
So I guess when you said you live in the “A” you were talking about Americus. Well I actually live in the “A.” I work on Donald Lee Hollowell PKWY (the world knows it as Bankhead). Atlanta is just like any other hood in America (I say America because the hoods in other countries are MUCH rougher). He can come to Atlanta and say anything he wants to say and there is a 99.9% chance that not a thing will happen to him. It’s no softer or no rougher than any place else. You should chill with the gun talk because real things happen around the world. Now that I am thinking about it, your comments are probably a joke. This is coming from Kryptonite or somebody like that.
April 6th, 2006 at 12:19 pm
whateva thats why i fuck wit south niggas faggot.
April 6th, 2006 at 1:11 pm

She’s since been ran off the site anyway so whatever.
April 6th, 2006 at 1:11 pm
Who cares who you fuck with? Did I ask you that?

Check out Rick Ross interview on SOHH.COM:
With a strong buzz and a co-sign from Jay-Z, Ross is poised to add to the south’s current reign. In recent weeks, New York emcees like Ghostface and 50 Cent have criticized the South, citing that its artists dumb down their lyrics in favor of party-oriented songs. Ross disagrees.
“I mean they gotta listen to the music,” Ross, who said he considers himself a lyricist, told SOHH. “I ain’t worried about other niggas cause I don’t even hear other niggas’ music like that. That’s their opinion, but whatever. You gotta hear the music. I know my shit [is] on another level. Listen to my music and then make that comment, you’ll sound stupid.” [Listen]

Believe what you want son; It does’nt matter anyway, it bigger than the Bronx and NYC now! Thanks for letting me know that I frustrated you with facts. How I know I frustrated you is because you went to attacking me. Why would you do that? You show that you are dumb as fuck when you go to attacking people. Don’t get my nice guy shit twisted Duke. I’ve just been around long enough to know not to mash on somebody unless they fuck with you. When you learn these things you will find that your quality of life will improve ten fold, you’ll get some pussy and your blood pressure won’t be so high. Oh yeah…………………………………..Fuck you, you test tube baby!
April 6th, 2006 at 10:13 pm
Oh yeah…………Why are you saying son? Do you know why people even started saying that? Do you even know that “son” is not the complete saying? Why are YOU using lingo that you probably have absolutely no education about?
April 7th, 2006 at 7:56 am
@ E From Bk
You gotta be kidding me!!! You are gonna school me on Knowledge? I’m from Brooklyn to cousin; I know exactly what I’m saying, so go read some more books By “Jeff Chang”. By the way you talk I can tell that you’re just a cub scout. There is a big difference between Knowledge and Wisdom, you may “think” that you’re kickin a little Knowledge, but your so called “intelligence” has no substance, scrapling! Go find yourself kid.
What is HIP HOP?
It’s the voice of the people of the streets,
It’s the voice of the disenfranchised,
It’s the heart of the struggle,
It’s the rhythm of our Ancestors,
It’s the drum beat of Africa,
It’s an expression of our Caribbean heritage,
It’s an offspring of our fore fathers Blues,
It’s a defiant stance against the oppressors,
It’s a celebration of our essence,
It’s a celebration of are style,
I guess all that started in the south Bronx huh?
Get your mind right “son” and start shinning.
April 7th, 2006 at 9:07 am
Why are you spelling it son? Also, what is the complete saying baby boy?
April 7th, 2006 at 9:20 am
The problem with young people like yourself is that you don’t stay on track. You get emotional and you let the emotion blind you from the task at hand. Either that or you just don’t read well and don’t understand things. It’s okay though, I will get you back on track and do it without being nasty. I agreed that the pioneers of Hip Hop got their own personal influences from various aspects of various lives and culture, however, Hip Hop as a collective and a genre WAS manifested in the Bronx! Do I need to go over what I told you before? Look at my posts about other inventions and where the thought came from, but the manisfestation of it came through a specific person. Damn B! Come on, it’s okay to say you don’t know or understand as much as you thought you did. That’s what being a real man is about. I’m not mad at you. I don’t even know you, but as a youngster in the community I feel that I must give you the truth. Stop letting emotion control everything that you do.
About the whoe Sun thing. Stop spelling it Son. If you are going to address me then address me properly. Also, you did not tell me the proper usage of that term. What is it at length?
April 7th, 2006 at 10:14 am
I agree with you MEGA!
April 7th, 2006 at 10:21 am
Being a real man is about saying and speaking what you beleive. I also don’t beleive hip hop as a whole didnt start in the Bronx! I say what I beleive and I beleive that many art forms of music that started in the carribeans and the south contributed to hip hop. It was made national by New York because New York is a national airwave of expression. Most people out of the United States only see New York as a city in America. Anything that New York puts out is considered all consious and reviolutinart. I got a lot of respect for New York for being the first to EXPOSE hip hop to the world. But hip hop as a whole did not start in New York.

Do you see how the truth surfaces? Look at what you wrote! You said this. This shows that no matter what untruth you want to tell the truth is deep within you. You just could not hold it back.
April 7th, 2006 at 10:27 am
“Save You now” if you are referring to the original “5 percent” meaning of “sun”. what the fuck does that have to do with anything? Good for you; your a Godbody. keep studying your lessons G.
April 7th, 2006 at 10:35 am
You still have not answered fully. It’s okay money. Stay up though!
April 7th, 2006 at 10:41 am
Always
April 7th, 2006 at 10:53 am
Just becase you market a mop for the first time does not mean that you invented it.
“No idea’s original, there’s nothin new under the sun
It’s never what you do, but how it’s done
What you base your happiness around material, women, and large paper
That means you inferior, not major” Nas
April 7th, 2006 at 11:46 am
Excuse me but those are my thoughts. I got a lot of respect for New York and the examples they have given the west, south and the midwest not just for hip hop but just by giving all black people in the country an opportunity to share hip hop. Just because I dont thing it ALL started in the Bronx I still have love for the east and listen to their music. I feverybody thought the same this world would be so boring.
I already got Fishscale listened to the whole album last night my opinion “a classic”!
April 7th, 2006 at 11:51 am
Nobody invented anything. Hip Hop was discovered, not invented by a particular region. Art forms of music from other regions invented hiph op as one, the Bronx discovered it, much love and respect to the Bronx though!
April 7th, 2006 at 1:21 pm
Cosmic and Mega, get over yourselves. seriously. Hip hop was discovered? stop trying to twist facts around to make your argument sound rational.
if you say hip hop as a culture manifested itself from different factors drawn from different people and places, then fine. but to say that the music we call hip hop didn’t originate in the Bronx, at 1520 Sedgwick Ave to be precise, then your just talking out your ass.
April 7th, 2006 at 1:42 pm
The point I’m trying to drive home is that when ever people use the argument that “hip hop started in the Bronx†as a blanket statement and totally ignore its roots; or use that statement to project some kind of “Hip Hop Superiorityâ€, I feel obligated to pull your card, because that’s not what it’s about. I respect Herc as “one of†the many founding fathers of the Hip Hop movement. I also respect the Bronx for playing a major role; but, I also give respect due to the nameless cats that get no respect whatsoever. Hip Hop is only a blossum on the tree of African American expressionism that was planted by our ancestors in the south. Its Human nature to place a figure head on something in order to feel good about the fact that they don’t fully understand it. We gotta box every thing up nice and neat to feel smart and safe. The fact of the matter is that Hip Hop needs no figure head. It speaks for its self. You gotta take the good with the bad. You can’t say that your crazy crack head uncle Junebug is not part of your family simply because you don’t like him; blood is blood.
-Thats my closing statement-

I think it was FIRST discovered in the Bronx. It orginated in the Bronx but not birhted.
April 7th, 2006 at 1:46 pm
so where’d it start then? are you saying it had no specific starting point? Cuz what I’m saying is, it drew influences from many places, but the music as we know it now, started in the Bronx.
April 7th, 2006 at 1:47 pm
Man has his own thoughts, its a proven fact. Its natural for many people to feel that hip hop did not start in the Bronx. Your probably not contempt or dont agree because your from the east. People in different regions have different views and if your not aware of that then you were born yesterday. You cant always state facts because if they were FACTS then they wouldnt be argumentive.

It has no orginal place, black people as a whole birhted it.
April 7th, 2006 at 1:50 pm
>>It has no orginal place, black people as a whole birhted it.
yeah that sounds good, but what does it mean. explain that statement.
April 7th, 2006 at 1:55 pm
Still got mad respect for the Bronx though!
April 7th, 2006 at 1:57 pm
^ thats what I thought
April 7th, 2006 at 1:57 pm
Black people from all over contributed to hip hop. To say that one region of black people started it is just unfair. You haft to look at history far back from the 1970’s and learn about the seeds that planted hip hop as it grew in the Bronx. Black people need not to argue over hip hop it’s all ours!
April 7th, 2006 at 1:59 pm
“^ thats what I thought”
Why wouldnt I have respect for the Bronx, without them and other regional influences Hip Hop wouldnt exist.
April 7th, 2006 at 2:04 pm
MEGA has mad wisdom!
April 7th, 2006 at 2:13 pm
no the “thats what i thought” was directed at you because you ignored my question.
now listen up
“contributed to” and “started” are two different things. you guys are arguing that other people contributed to the artform which me and E aren’t disputing. What we’re saying is that all of those infulences came together in the Bronx to birth hip hop.
April 7th, 2006 at 2:16 pm
Just face it that the South has sucka emcees and NY has sucka emcees. The fact that all radio stations lose their local identity for what they think is the hottest trend is what is irritating everybody. I remember when I would travel down south and they wouldn’t play no Jay, Nas or Big on the radio, just their regional shit that was popping and I was cool with that. I ‘d hate to travel to the West Coast and only hear some East coast cats on the radio because I’d like to soak up that local flavor (E40, Heiroglyphics, Mac Dre, MC 8, Murs, DPG, Ras Kass, Snoop, Bad Azz and etc). Everybody’s getting mad but ignoring the true Hip Hop enemy which is Corporate White (yes, I said it) America. They got us again. They took Jazz from us and we lost interest in it. Don’t let it happen to Hip Hop!!!!!!!!!!!!
April 7th, 2006 at 2:19 pm
“all of those infulences came together in the Bronx to birth hip hop. ”
Ok, then why is it an issue, it started in the Bronx. But the art form that is being discussed could of came together anywhere to birth hip hop.
Im just saying, black people should not alienate other black people. Thats just what the white man wants. I don’t care which region runs hip hop, it all ours. This whole “the south runnin this” and “the bonx birthed it” is just stupid. Let your fellow african americans enjoy it and dont say who’s better than who, we all have talent. We all have a right to express that talent in hip hop.
April 7th, 2006 at 2:21 pm
dj groove
I strongly agree!!!
April 7th, 2006 at 2:23 pm
White people have tooken over something that is ours. While we sit here like fools and argue over it.
April 7th, 2006 at 2:26 pm
>>Ok, then why is it an issue, it started in the Bronx.
you tell me, you’re the one arguing it.
>>I’m just saying, black people should not alienate other black people.
who’s alienating black people? because I want credit to be given where it’s due? don’t be ridiculous. stop trying to make the argument about something else.
and I will say we’re better than whoever because that’s a matter of pride. stop acting like black people can’t criticise other black people. and what’s it have to do with race anyway? what if Paul Wall says Eminem is wack?
April 7th, 2006 at 2:26 pm
In the south we rarley hear Nas, Tribe Called Quest, Mobb Deep they just play southern rap and local music. We should not divde ourselves like that. I enjoy listening to music from my northern cousins, midwestern and western it’s all us.
April 7th, 2006 at 2:30 pm
Ok, then in the matter of pride I will say Southern Rap is better “which at some point I do beleive” is that so bad, it is pride isn’t it?
April 7th, 2006 at 2:31 pm
Lets just end this argument by saying that this is all a matter of “Pride” then. You know “Ego”!
April 7th, 2006 at 2:35 pm
Unfortentally in the south we don’t have “Ego” well we dont take it to far. We stick together, during slavery we had to.
April 7th, 2006 at 2:37 pm
“what if Paul Wall says Eminem is wack?”
Lyrically Eminem would murk him, eventually ending his career!
April 7th, 2006 at 2:38 pm
>>Ok, then in the matter of pride I will say Southern Rap is better
that’s fine. you should feel that way. and yeah it may be ego but so what, I hear an awful lot of ego coming from the south these days
April 7th, 2006 at 2:38 pm
>>Lyrically Eminem would murk him, eventually ending his career!
I agree. at least we agree on something.
April 7th, 2006 at 2:49 pm
So this is all about EGo case closed?
April 7th, 2006 at 2:51 pm
well I don’t think it’s all about ego, but yeah it definitley has something to do with it.
April 7th, 2006 at 6:37 pm
The original thought had nothing to do with which region you think has better Hip Hop. The thought was that Hip Hop as a collective was birthed in NY! Bottom line. I don’t care about who you like. I do care that the story is told properly and not just to suit your own ego. That’s where the egos come in. I don’t understand why people are trying to change history. What’s makes it worst is that it’s Black people trying to change Black history. Now that is some devilish shit!
April 7th, 2006 at 11:45 pm
“Elements” of Hip Hop were first recognized in NYC and then labled! That’s concrete, wack nigga! Stop acting like you the author of this shit and listen!
April 8th, 2006 at 1:35 am
I’m not trying to dispute the fact that Hip Hop is New York’s baby; all I’m saying is remember who the mother is. This shit didn’t just pop up out of nowhere! And to those who say that there would still be hip hop if there wasn’t a South are kidding themselves. If there wasn’t a South; African American music as we know it would not exist period.
April 9th, 2006 at 10:33 am
^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Another example of how when people don’t really have a valid argument they resort to insults. Why “wack nigga?” Was that really necessary. Be a man about shit. Your opinion is your opinion, it’s just not FACTUAL! Oh yeah; “elements” in Hip Hop were not recognized in NY, they were CREATED there. What you need to do lil homie is get over your little inferiority complex. That shit is all in your head. Nobody thinks you are inferior, but stop showing it by choosing to be disrespectful. It’s not a good look Doola.
April 9th, 2006 at 2:23 pm
E From BK:
I don’t really like you, you are mean. Try having an open mind about shit sometimes. dam
Quit insulting other people about their opinions. People like you and your “ego” is the main reason the east vs west beef started. Just give respect and stop acting so fucking stuck up. Thats not a good look G.
April 9th, 2006 at 7:59 pm
You don’t like me? I am mean? You sound like a _____________________. You fill in the rest.
Oh yeah; why have not said anything about your foul mouthed disrespectful bretheren?
April 10th, 2006 at 7:49 am
I need not say more, you just proved your igronance.
