You know, it’s funny when talking about Latin/Hispanic community using the N-word, along with other ethnicities. But lets just focus on the issue at hand which is Hispanics using the N word. We as Black people don’t really have a gripe as a whole about Hispanics saying Nigga. I think we just don’t allow CERTAIN Hispanic nationalities to get away with it. Why? Man, I want to start banning colleges and universities. All 2 degrees got me was a job where you can take a piss when you want to. When I was working in a factory it wasn’t that easy. That’s the only benefit I see in getting a college education. Everything else that’s of any relevance you can learn yourself at the library or buying a book.

i definitly agree. i’m a college drop out, and i self educated myself and learned what i needed to to be successful. now i’m gonna be 23 on monday, and i already have my own business. i would’ve been making the average 30k/yr if i didn’t take the road that i knew. although, college can be a great tool if you have your mind set on what you want to be and the drive to get there. the worst thing you can do is go to college and assuming you will learn what you want to be based on the options of classes they offer. at least that was my excuse when dropping out and i did just fine. and since you guys have mentioned books, 48 laws of power is a great fucking book.

College, my friends… is a filter. Yes, intially it was implemented to allow people who wanted to seek higher education a chance to broaden their studies. But as time went on, the population grew and jobs became more scarce. So what better way to determine who can have what job, and who can’t? A degree. What does a degree really mean? It means that you have completed all the General Education requirements along with your core studies and concentration. Does it mean you’re qualified for the job you’re applying for? No. I’m a self-proclaimed cheater and breezed through Accouting I and II for my major. Am I good with balance sheets? Hell no. But there are quite a few people who I know that are good with numbers and could be a CPA, yet wouldn’t get hired because they don’t have a degree. See, the less jobs there are available, the more accolades you need under your belt to be in that position. And lets not talk about the “genius” idea of the government to milk you for every last dollar in tuition costs. This might sound racist but a Black guy who went to Harvard is probably smarter than a lot others on the campus simply because we know he had to go through hell and high water to get there. It’s not like being accepted to Morgan State (sorry, but you knew HBCUs had to take a jab in this). Meanwhile, people like George Bush went to Yale and was accepted simply because his father was the president. It OBVIOUSLY had nothing to do with his intelligence. Why would the government tell you that you can take out a small business loan and become entreprenuer? Do you know how much money they would lose in college turnover rates? College these days have become more or less a new status. Think about it fellas. Most Black chicks these days will ask you did you go to college probably 15 minutes into the conversation when you first meet her. Why? Because we have manifested the idealism that college makes you smarter and more acceptable to society. Now, don’t get me wrong. Our ancestors fought long and hard to see that a higher education would be available for all Blacks to take advantage of. But don’t let college take advantage of you. Your degree should be used as your back-up, not on the forefront of creating a foundation and stability for yourself. If you get a degree in Marketing but decide to become an actor, then great. Because if you suck at acting and it doesn’t workout then at least you know you can get hired SOMEWHERE and provide for yourself. My hat goes off to those who took advantage of trade schools and made their own path instead of following someone else’s. If you want to make it in life, HAVE A PLAN. If college involve those plans, great. Because you can’t just walk in hospital and become a doctor. But if your plans doesn’t involve school, then create your own path.
Life is a journey, not a midterm.

College gives more that a degree in something…
it grants you a broader perspective when approaching whatever aspects of life you get faced with. thats why with a true college degree in any field, you can effectively switch careers and get a post grad in whatever you chose.

reggaeton, 48 laws gives alot two instences of every law. not to sound conceited, but most of the shit in that book, i knew, just the laws. but the stories are amazing. to hear how people got there way in and out of certain situations, is amazing. everybody has alternative motives, but the book shows you how you can achieve those motivations, or get screwed in the pursuit of them.

I agree. I bet P. Diddy read that book everyday. A co-worker here owns that book and I skimmed through it. It didn’t seem that bad. I think it really depends on the individual and who you’re dealing with. When I went on interviews and had someone white as the interviewer, I know damn well I reached in the bag of tricks to get them see a certain “side” of me. As opposed when I was interviewed by someone Black (on a corporate level) who I deemed as a down-to-earth person where I could be myself. But that’s what happens when we don’t own enough businesses. We have to adopt their mentality in order to survive. But I’ve been able to balance and know when to use it, but never abuse it.

well i’ll tell you this marco. i went on a hiring campaign a few months back. and the best feeling in the world is looking at the application of someone who to to Stern @NYU, the place i aspired to be when i was younger, and knowing, that i will never hire them based on there school. not to say that person won’t go on to be successful, but when i look at applications, i see people who spent there lives in school, studying marketing or psychology, got a bachelors, and apply for to me for a job, i turn them down. to me, they’re worse than someone who has been to jail. if you spend 4-5 years of your life, studying, learning all about different stuff, and come to me with no real working experience, just the knowledge of everything but what you’ll be using with me, thats fucking useless. i look for someone with street smarts, who may or may not have went to college, but someone who knows life. who knows how to deal with people, everything else can be taught. and people spend there whole fuckin youth learning shit that doesn’t apply to them in life all to end up in a situation where you get a job just to pay the loans and bills, and you never get any higher. it bothers me so much because there are so many talented people out there with the ability to be something more but they get sucked in to “how it should be done”. luckily, i had someone show me “how it can be done”.

i don’t know AGeezee, i think the book is dope. although there is alot of deceit in it, it doesn’t condone it, just says why it works, and then gives you a story of when it failed. its teaching you history based on using the main principals of power. for instance. i’ll say this one story that i personally liked alot.
A king once had a psychic as his aid. the psychic would pretty much dictate everything the king did and started gaining more and more respect from the kings piers. in order to stop any uprising in his palace, the king decides to kill the psychic. he orders him to his throne and before the king tells him his fate, he asks the psychic a question, “if you are all knowing, then tell me when you will die”. the psychic with no hesitation tells the king “3 days before you”. the psychic lived many years after the king died.
although there is deceit in that story, it is one you can take alot from, and there are many others like that in the book.

well you can use it aloing with an rss reader (there are several types i.e. a website like Bloglines or an actuall software application like Sage) to subscribe to anything with a feed, like the comments on Nah Right for instance. that way when a new comment comes up, the reader will see it and display it in your reader of choice.
I don’t know of any readers for phones, but I wouldn’t be surprised if there was one. But you should know that my comments feed will give you recent comments on every post. so for example you can’t just subscribe to the Black Rob Posts comments you’d have to go through new comments on every post.

I got alot to get off my chest after reading through everyone’s comments here.
#1 Kanye West – While I like his music, he tends to put his big @ss foot in his mouth all the time. So what if he’s from the suburbs… and, I’ve never heard him say that he’s from the streets. So at least he not fakin’ the funk on being gangsta. Everyone is talking about racism coming from many different directions other than Kanye, no one is looking at him. While I wouldn’t call him a straight up racist, there have been quite a few times where is lack of exposure to society as a whole, has shown that he holds a strong bias (more like prejudice) towards non-nubians.
Oh, and he is an arrogant, whiny bitch. If I could give him some advise, it would be to stick to music Kanye, and don’t say anything unscripted, or say anything that wasn’t approved by your PR rep/ manager.
2. Don’t hate on Mencia. He’s a pale Dave Chappelle, he uses the “N” word too much. You know what? He has a very lucrative career making fun of people, and he will continue to do so as long as people like to laugh and have thick skin. I was a fan of Mencia years ago. I saw his HBO half hour special, I also saw his stand up on Comedy Central. He is a talented comedian who doesn’t have to stoop to humor that put’s grins on clansmen’s faces. I think, Carlos ended up with the same writers that Chappelle had. Therefore, I think Mencia just took the reins and rolled with it. Few people complained about Chappelle’s humor before (outside of the Dark Crusaders, see http://www.chappelletheory.com, I think it’s BS since there’s no substantiating evidence, but it’s quite plausible). But, now that it’s coming out of someone’s mouth who lacks the melanin Dave has, it’s offensive. It was offensive before. So what’s so different now?
@Marco – I’m feeling you on what you said about giving our Grandkids a future without the stigma of such a word.
#3 I’m Puerto Rican, the man that raised me is black. My Dad is a well-educated successful brotha who spends much of his free time expanding his knowledge of cultural history. Not just Black/AFRAM history, but all cultural-ethno-religious history. I’d like to add that he is an entrepeneur and a “Rich Dad” (we both have read the series). I’ve faced racism from other latinos, from Black people, and from white people too. It wasn’t easy for me. But, I love it when I see my brothers, Latinos and Nubians, pushing towards independence, breaking the stereo-type and handling their finances. Being entrepeneurs, brokers, getting an education (while it doesn’t gaurantee success, it’s a very useful tool towards acheiving success).
#4 Funny is funny. Bear with me here, it’s a bit long, but there is a point to it. That is, don’t take yourself to seriously. Laugh at what is funny.
Here’s where my life story gets better, I have two kids that are half black and puerto rican, and a third who is half PR, 1/4 white, and a 1/4 Mexican. 3 kids, 4 different races (I’ve been busy). I’m in my mid-20′s, at first glance, most people think I’m 20, and once they have a conversation with me, they think I’m in my late 20′s. How do I do it? Because I don’t take myself too seriously.
My wife is half Mexican and white. Her mother, I’ll say it, is a wetback. But she doesn’t think it. She is one of those people in the world I look at and can’t figure out, “how the hell did they get that way?” She is scared of black men(but gets wet looking at Shemar Moore), doesn’t trust white people(but refuses to see a doctor that isn’t white), thinks black women are bitches(when she is the bigger bitch), and thinks all typical Mexicans are Wetbacks, and not her(she needs to look in the mirror). This woman calls herself a Texan. But let me tell you, she is a grade school drop-out, sunburnt, FOB (Fresh Over the Border), “7 Days to Wetback English” passing Beaner (she’s in denial). Plus, she looks sixty, but is only 42, and acts like a fucking bitchy ass teenage girl. I’m sure you have all seen some movie like Desperado, where there is some old, wrinkled old, fugly Mexican woman… Well, that’s her, just uglier and more ignorant ( I guess you have all figured out I don’t like her).
But I digress… I know it’s not easy to listen to someone make racial jokes about people that he/she doesn’t share a culturo-ethno-religious common ground. You have to delve a bit deeper into their intentions. Just like when I’m poking fun of my wife by making Mexican jokes, and my mother-in-law gets pissed off about it. Delve deeper… Is it in the name of pure humor? Or as it really meant to be overtly racist with the intentions of offending?
If it’s meant to be funny in the name of humor, then take it for what it is, FUNNY.
People, don’t take yourselves to seriously. You will have a richer more fullfilling life that way.

I do not think it is right to exclude any race or ethnic group from saying a word, If they can not say the word why should you. Besides race is stupid anyways, there is only one race to me, the human race. There are different ethnic groups though, each with their own culture. That is what makes us different. Skin color, hair type, and facial structure are only visual our culture & personality is what makes us who we are. It should not matter is a white person or a black person laughs at a joke, a person is a person and a joke is a joke. Everybody needs to calm down and try not to let their prejudices get in the way. We have divided people into sterotypes with our minds which is normal in most cultures, but we must learn not to let that control us. We control our minds and be logical.
