Black Rob Sentenced To 7 Years
Damn, MTV just because Black Rob hasn’t had a real hit since Woah doesn’t mean a story like this doesn’t deserve it’s own news item. I found this buried in the middle of yesterdays For The Record report on MTV.com:
Bad Boy Records rapper Black Rob (born Robert Ross) was sentenced to up to seven years in jail for grand larceny Thursday (March 30) in New York. Rob was picked up on a fugitive warrant February 24 after skipping out on an agreement to turn himself in January 24 to begin serving a two-to-six-year sentence on the charges. A spokesperson for the Manhattan district attorney’s office said the rapper was given the maximum sentence on the charge due to his flight. He will begin serving immediately…
I know it says ‘up to’ 7 years and he probably won’t do a day over 3 if he’s lucky, but that wouldn’t have made for nearly as sensational a headline now would it? Let this be a lesson to any up and coming rappers thinking about signing with P.Diddy: On Bad Boy you can drop two albums and blow up with a huge radio record, and still end up breaking into hotel rooms for loose change.

I don’t understand it. BR’s first album took forever to come out, but when it hit it was crazy. Duke had a VERY good album. Now, the 2nd album took forever to come out and Bam! I feel as if puff is getting scrutinized (or however u spell the word) for doing what was considered the industry standard. no record exec gave artist shit in those days. what rapper in the 90′s was really taking getting bank money then? puff did cats dirty, but so did def jam, sony, arista, etc.. they all (record execs) got paid the real money will the artist just got jerked around like a puppet. it wasn’t until these artist started making subsidarary (or however u spell the word) companies did cats start seeing that serious dough.

i wish every record label in the industry worked like aftermath. every1 gets paid, everyone has a voice and…ready, this is the best 1…everyone is happy. even the worst rappers (ie. D12, spyder loc ect.) get paid. thats wassup. as far as BB…nobodys gunna see a portion a wat Puffy sees, thats jus how it is. I wonder what BB’d be like if BIG was still around.
