My feelings about "Hollywood" Hav and Lil Ballerina P are no secret, but in the interest of fairness and by special request, I give you the new Mobb Deep video for their lead single "Put Em In Their Place." All jokes aside, I actually think this song is better than most of the other stuff I’ve heard from them since they whored themselves out to G-Unit, but P’s flow and subject matter still leave alot to be desired.

When I first heard the beat I was like yo this joint is blazing, but then I was like is this song gonna fit Mobb Deep’s style so I kept paying attention. It was alright, but then Ballerina P started talking about how much money he got, and I was like hold up wait a minute. This is not Mobb deep style. Then what really did it for me was when P said Pyrooww, like How Fif be saying it then he followed with another word that sounded like that. I quickly became mad and that distorted my view from the rest of the video.
What Fif tried to do was uptempo the mobb deep style, and make a hood banger, but this beat does not fit them at all. “Hollywood” Hav, which I will get to shortly sounded off beat, but then he flipped it near the end. This is not a song for Mobb Deep, this is not what makes them, so the song is not bubble gum, it doesn’t fit them, and it sounds overly forced. This can’t be a hav beat. They need dark sinister beats, like they going to war at something, that is what makes them. These beats are for fifty.
Then you hear P talking about rings and things which just comes off ridiculous, what is he talking about. We know you aint got no money, so what are you bragging for. But the streets dont care if you got money, we wanna hear that straight street dunn lingo, like you bout to come out a casket or something. I’m being critical but If you a true Mobb fan, you not gon really feel it like that cause you know its forced and fake.
Why is hav calling himself hollywood, these niggas is pissing me off, but rfif is really pissing me off cause this is not who Mobb deep is. Their lyrics make the music, not music make the lyrics. This beat gave them no lyrical inspiration. They are talking about hoes and hotels, and they spit game is just trash.
Even with all that said, I am not saying that the song is wack, I just dont like how they come off or their style. I’m glad they getting paper but at this route, it seems as if they are selling their souls.

I just finished watching the new mobb deep video. I am shocked to know that NO g-unit artists from the g-unit roster made a cameo……all you saw was logos of g-unit and a pic from eskay and gumms favorite rapper 50. I must say I liked the video, the hook was tight but I think P should have spit bars harder like he use to, so overall i give it an 8 out 10!!!!

Eskay you said something that got me to thinking…..you said “The worse thing to happen to hip hop is hooks” well IMO the worse thing to happen to hip hop is the Belief that metaphors & punch lines = lyrical, shit where is the use of metaphors by guys like Kane, Rakim, G-Rap, Krs-One, LL, Chuck D, Naughty By Nature etc etc? i feel what you’re saying but most people are so ignorant to how these artists live on a day to day.. and even how they grew up. lets face the facts barely any artists are real. most of them are on labels which require artist development that force them to either portray a certain image, or release songs of specific nature.
rappers have to portray a specific image to sell records that just how the industry works and that image itself is dictated by the labels. That’s why you’ve got southern music doing so well right now. The labels know thats what’s selling and it leaves a smaller margin for artist who dont fall into that mold to do their thing. but that in itself is a completely different discussion.
point being, theres many rappers with questionable backgrounds. many rappers dont write their own lyrics, many of them are just an image, just the same way brittany spears, or backstreet or anyone who is in the eyes of the mainstream media. they just uphold different images to sell records.
i’m not saying im gonna run out and cop a spears album, thats not my point.. my whole point is that if you like an artist for their music that should be all that matters. because a really small percentage if that really knows what these artists do with their time on the regular, how they grew up and more.
why else is it so shocking when we find out really fucked up news about an artist that had so called “cred”? rappers are artists plain and simple. they make music.

Apart from the lull when P brought out his album and there were some shitty songs floating about by Mobb, the lyrics and beats of their new music is a step up for sure
