Why a black man gotta be a killer/convict/have a record to rhyme?

The papoose verse wasn’t that bad. The song wasn’t that bad, but its not like it was a banger either. This is more for papoose to get some exposure. But If you just a real hip-hop fan you can dig it, because it wasn’t like it too bubblegumish. It was more run of the mill dance song that had a verse by papoose in it. This neccessarily doesn’t hurt papoose, it is marketing test of how he is exposed in a different light. Questions like can he rock a different beat, how does he connect with the audience, does he have a swagger that people like. I think he generally comes out good.

That is not to say that he should be doing too many of these, but this is a business and a decent business tactic or move. The reason its not compromising is that the artist is not really known and it has more of indie or new age underground dance theme to it rather than straight soda poppish feel like that of a britney spears or hillary duff.

I think papoose comes out alright, he is walking that fine line of commercial while having street appeal. Though in doing so I think he needs to take more gradual steps then just straight jumps. That is how Hov and nas came to be. Baby steps toward fame or commericial appeal serves a lot bettter in rap then giant leaps.

maybe he didn’t want to be under anyone’s shadow? Plus I thought he was tight with TS? Remy and those people.. not realy sure… but I am also sick of that old biggie trick where if they put u under someone’s wing ur guaranteed plat. It worked before but now 50 has just ruined it… I respect what u said about Chris and Juelz.. I agree, if the song is hot, it will put u on the map.. no need to be affiliated with anyone just to launch, those relationships never last anyway.. 2 years go by and they hate each other.. someone doesn’t want to be called a protege blah blah and the bitchiness begins.. I think he’s better on his own.. if he’s as good as he thinks he is we’ll hear from him again, won’t matter where he’s @.

Also his verse here sucks… was I the only one that thought so, obvious he did this for cash.. even his freestyle posted here a while back was better…. I think that’s a dangerous game to play.. when biggie did his dets with like mint condition and whoever the hell r&b artist was out at the time he still had a hot verse even though it was only for the cash I’m sure.
