Ha! Funny, a friend of the family was home from college and when he came by yest he had me watch this girl’s video to see what I thought. He and the girl went to h.s. together in Brooklyn and he sort of knows her. She is Latina btw, not white and it sounds like she’s hooked up with some good people as she’s worked quite a bit since she graduated a couple of years ago. I wasn’t sure what to make of her. It’s so hard to make it in this business and not end up chewed up and spit out. I look at the longevity of Mary J. and it’s clear her success is a minor miracle. More power to this young woman. She’s trying to get her hustle on. Can’t knock that.

Jay-Z confirms that the rumors of 50 Cent working with Roc-A-Fella artist Freeway on Free’s new LP are 100 percent true. Although 50 and Jay’s schedules don’t allow them to be in the studio at the same time, Hov explained the working relationship, saying that 50 and Jay will each work with Freeway separately.

“[50] actually submitted two songs last week that are outrageous,” President Carter said. “Now I have to go do my thing, I have to do my work. Then Free benefits from everything.”

First things first, Monche cannot fuck with jadakiss. lets get that straight. jadakiss is one of the nicest in the game. He is still growing. He kills mixtapes. Jadakiss should be claiming the throne now that Hov is gone but it is still up for grabs.

The papoose verse wasn’t that bad. The song wasn’t that bad, but its not like it was a banger either. This is more for papoose to get some exposure. But If you just a real hip-hop fan you can dig it, because it wasn’t like it too bubblegumish. It was more run of the mill dance song that had a verse by papoose in it. This neccessarily doesn’t hurt papoose, it is marketing test of how he is exposed in a different light. Questions like can he rock a different beat, how does he connect with the audience, does he have a swagger that people like. I think he generally comes out good.

That is not to say that he should be doing too many of these, but this is a business and a decent business tactic or move. The reason its not compromising is that the artist is not really known and it has more of indie or new age underground dance theme to it rather than straight soda poppish feel like that of a britney spears or hillary duff.

I think papoose comes out alright, he is walking that fine line of commercial while having street appeal. Though in doing so I think he needs to take more gradual steps then just straight jumps. That is how Hov and nas came to be. Baby steps toward fame or commericial appeal serves a lot bettter in rap then giant leaps.

You guys need to calm down. The point here is not whether he did a pop song or not, its that he did a pop song and didnt lose his edge. Tell me this hasn’t been one of the best verses on a song like this in a long long time. The only other song that i can think where a rapper had a great verse and upheld the track was Lil Wayne on the Bobby Valentino track. This is definitely good for Pap…nobody can say he came whack on this song.
