Public Service Announcement
Attention all part-time Hip Hop fans:
Regarding the Jay-Z Biter/Writer track, I have two points:
1. If you had never heard that compilation before, you need to step your rap game up for real, it’s been out for at least a year and a half. If you think that is something Cam thought up himself, then you need to turn in your hip hop membership card immediately.
2. If you listened to the Writer/Biter track and were at all surprised that those lines were not Jay’s original material, then you seriously need to step your rap game up. I can’t front, there were maybe 2 quotes that I wasn’t aware were "stolen" but other than that, most of those lines are from well known, if not classic, songs.
Exceptions: If you were born anytime after oh let’s say…1987, I’m willing to overlook your flagrant lack of hip hop knowledge because you were probably still playing with G.I. Joe/Barbie when most of those songs were in rotation.
Thank you, carry on.

Got it, listen to it still to this day.
January 20th, 2006 at 6:16 pm
Same thing I was saying but a lot of people ,and I mean a lot don’t know anything about it being old. Its New to alot of peoples ears.
January 20th, 2006 at 6:59 pm
I’ve had it downloaded on my PC at work for about six months.
BUT……….
with cam’s overdub, it drives the point home much harder than the original version does.
The original didn’t get very much attention.
This time around, it will.
And if you haven’t heard that Kat Williams diss to Young Guns, you need to check that out. Too damn funny.
‘F?ck the Young Guns and both of ya fans!’
Too damn funny.

Yeah, I heard it on Future Flavaz awhile back…The proof’s in the puddin folks. When I first heard it I was like DAMMMMN!
however, Jay-z got too many styles and rhymes to pick at certain little shit like that, especially from Cam ( Come on, Girls just wanna have fun!, Push it! etc. Nigga Por que!)
Lets face it, the ulitimate cardinal sin of the hip hop 10 commandments “Thy Shalt not Bite” has been broken! Nothing is sacred anymore!
January 20th, 2006 at 9:18 pm
i knew he was bitin rhymes from “ether”
“how many of biggie’s rhymes gon’ come off your fat lips”
but i didnt know the extent of it
January 20th, 2006 at 10:33 pm
i dont see why people put jay under a microscope you would be hard pressed to find a rapper that never quoted another rapper before
January 21st, 2006 at 1:36 am

January 21st, 2006 at 3:05 am
Jay flipped way too many verses. He needs to send a royalty check to Biggies mom and brother.
January 21st, 2006 at 10:48 am
Stop children, lets get one thing clear, every rapper used a line or two that wasnt theres. Jay Z has just been doing this too long so of course he is gonna have more bitten lines but get serious, take every rhyme that wasnt an authentic jigga rhyme out of his music and tell me he still wouldnt be just as hot and nice lyrically…… GET A GRIP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If the writer can writer can right, the biter can also. Cats who get exposure take lack of talent to a felonious level. I give Jay some degree of repect. He is seriously overrated. He sends an image. That is what is important to the people who sit in offices, and need collage degrees to handle music properly. The rap game has been turned into joke. The first problems that arise from this is the abuse of a culture that is supposed to better itself. How many people have any clue what a real mc battle is? Its bothersome to see people who o.d. on trying to be ‘thugged out’ use the term hip hop. Hip hop is not music. It is the culture that the music resides within. Then when you try to tell these fans of these frauds they don’t care to hear about it. No heart. You will not see a little wayne cd/dvd and a DMC dj battle video/dvd. More should be do to expose any fraud that is supposed to be cataloged under ‘Rap’ Also these trl/106 & park fools who claim to be in the know, and are clueless on on the subject.

One of the first problems came when everyone started calling rap a “game.” Everyones only out for themself and their label and wan’t nothing but to come out winners. Too much competition, too much stubborness, and no harmony.
January 22nd, 2006 at 6:34 am
Well this guy dropped a nice bunch of albums … and there are 6 minutes of so called “stolen” lines … errbody screamin “jay a biter he never wrote nuthin” whats up with the rest of his 3409898 tracks?? -_- u need to think before hatin
January 22nd, 2006 at 9:13 am
Cam is actin real desperate right about now.He wanna sell records,so he’s goin @ jay and the only thing he can come up with is to talk about the lines he took, and to call him ugly ? Come on,what man is gonna care if another man is ugly or not ? Anyone to question jay’s lyrical ability cuz of him takin line sfrom other greats,is a fool.Hip hop was born on takin shit from other people and puttin their own spin on it.Wasnt no studio sessions,or no premos’or kanye’s back in the day
January 22nd, 2006 at 1:31 pm
im not gonna lie. im no hip hopologist…but i was shocked at the “im a pimp by blood, by relations”…i heard he took BIGs rhymes, i just never paid attention to any of it…i dont have any BIG albums…and only 2 of jays…i dont really listen to the music and hear what theyre sayin…i just listen to it if it sounds good to me…and i was born in 83…one.
January 22nd, 2006 at 1:37 pm
@zoid…
we know he has a gang of other records….and stuff…but the thing is…people put jay on a pedistal…and they swear he is the living king of this shit…that is why it matter more…i have seen the “heard it all before” section of XXL and they have a lot of rappers taking each other’s shit…but jayz does it to the max…and he mostly steals from the person people dub him “the second coming” of….BIG…so with that said….
people are really looking at this like WHOA!
i gotta co-sign with rizz…i heard nas mention it…but i didnt know how much he did it.

People, you need to refer to #2 in this post. If you didn’t know those lines, don’t act surprised and horrified that Jay “stole” all of these lyrics. Jay is speaking to an audience that understands that he is saying Big’s lyrics or Pac’s lyrics. He’s keeping the light on these rappers who are either dead or their time has passed in the limelight. You wonder why Big is so relevant 9 years after he passed? It’s not because he had a huge amount of material sitting there ready to be released like Pac did. Jay kept his name and spirit alive through his rhymes.
If LeBron James does a signature Jordan dunk, he is not biting. He is giving props. What is so hard to comprehend about that?
January 23rd, 2006 at 9:55 am
Actually, if you think a huge majority of your favorite rapppers dont do this same thing that people are killin Jay for doin, ,,,,,,then you should turn in your hip-hop membership.
I hear rappers spittin other peoples lines all the time. Its even well documented in XXL every issue. So dont call Jay-Z to attention, look at them all.
Lets not forget beat jackin, i. e. Camrons “Leave Me Alone” BKA 2pac’s “Ambitionz of Rider”……..
January 23rd, 2006 at 12:22 pm
I tired of this bitin shit…a lot of these motherfuckers dont know where those lyrics come from cause they too young or too ignorant…And really put jay under lender and see how many of the hottest, new, from west to south back to north would be under borrower including cam so fuck that shit!!! That nigga the main reason why cam went paltinum…he built rocafella maybe not the business side but musically 100%….And lets say cam aint GOT NO RIGHT TALKING bout somebodys clothes…no 1 fucking right!!! Mase and 50 dissing this nigga at shows and shit but he say “gotta like 50″ fuck pink boy!!! The man has talent but he still bitter bout that vp gig and the dame shit…both events happened AWHILE ago but its nice he decided to drop right b4 his record release..you can tell this is real….
January 23rd, 2006 at 10:15 pm
‘dont care how long jiggas been quoting classic songs or who made the compilation, hes still “swagger jacking” GUY!
so what if KILLA didnt think of the concept for the compilation, him narrating is mad funny. still, after listining to it, you have to admit that JAY did alittle too much recyling in the last ten years.
how about somebody was to do a compilation like that featuring CAM, how much material would they really have? COME CLEAN GUYS…
and yeah, most of those songs that JAY quoted from where classics but when JAY makes a hit featuring another dudes catchy bars [off a classic], who gets the credit?
January 23rd, 2006 at 11:06 pm
>>how about somebody was to do a compilation like that featuring CAM
somebody did, but it doesn’t meet my quality standards
January 23rd, 2006 at 11:58 pm
ok this one is decent:
Cam’ron – I don’t write shit
January 24th, 2006 at 12:39 am
ZACKLY!!! something similar to that can be made for EVERY rapper out there..
GET OFF JAYS DILLS HATERS
January 24th, 2006 at 1:13 am
Jay is like the Michael Mcdonald of Hip Hop. He takes classics and makes hits off of them.
January 24th, 2006 at 3:40 pm
Man o Man camron has no reason to go at jay. He says jay stole this and that frm Dame. No Jay handeled his business and became the bigger man. And cam dissing jay is like Mase dissing biggie! U feel me its no comparsion or competion for jay. Jay-z on a whole nother level right now he makes more off other people albums then cam makes off his own. And camron is the president of diplomat records Jay is the president of DEF jam. Do you see the difference. CAM is not and will not be on jay-z’s level and its all to help his album sale since his last one diddnt. Put it like this Jay diddnt care to help or promote purple haze which was still on roc-a-fella so now cam is dissing jay for publicity so this album can sale a little more. So he’s just tryin to get jay to help his album sale one way or another!
the biter writer track is old but who doesnt use others lyrics? its not like he took their theri song and redid it he took a line and all the rest is his niggas just mad they aint do it 1st jay is still orginal at they come
January 24th, 2006 at 6:33 pm
First and foremost, there is a new track within the same format that has Cam “sampling” other people’s stuff as well. How many “rappers” today can say that they did not use any lyrics from some of the greats or not so greats in rap? Not many methinks. For me I am looking at it as Jay is giving props to some of these guys he has sampled from. Or he is just bad enough to do it as he said. Cam need to stop with his Flintstone rapping. Who is he fooling with those Sesame Street rhymes he and his crew is spitting? And is he the gay rapper or what? Real men don’t wear pink or drive around in pink cars. Is he working for Mary Kay and is a top producers there to get the pink cars. C’mon man. Get real. Find a better marketing stratergy than what 50 Cent has tried. I hate rap music now. Shit makes me sick.
January 25th, 2006 at 2:29 pm
That Cam track is kinda weak.
The last part isn’t even Cam rappin.(sounds like Jim Jones)

Cam’ron, the same cat who couldn’t even hit with the Magnum P.I. beat? Yeah, later he had some hits with sampled slow jams, but I never thought he brought much to the table (him or Dip Set in general). I think I remember liking Horse & Carriage back in the day, but nothing I’ve heard from Cam has impressed me since. Admittedly, I follow the West Coast scene more than the East, and it is possible that Cam has some good material out there that I haven’t heard, but Cam’ron:Jay-Z :: Warren G: Dr. Dre.
