Rakim used to be my father but I had to disown him because he refuses to stop tucking his jeans into his timberlands.. Hello, its 2006 not 1993. You know your officially OLD when you refuse to update your sense of style.

Rakims show should be attended as a show of support for true cultural icons as himself. I am not in NYC. I would go because w/ what is out there, a an mc that can blaze on the mic is better than a “unit” of mcs’ that can’t and have hella effects to carry the fantasy of actual talent.

dubbs you’re in rare form today
January 6th, 2006 at 11:05 am
^ lol… S, you know when I see him on TV or wherever, he reminds me of a dude who did a 10 year bid came home and dresses the same way he did when we went up north.
No excuses for tucking your jeans in your timbs, NONE!

It was a long night. 3 Lyricist Lounge acts. Grandmaster Caz & Raheem. Special K & Teddy Ted. Pete Rock. Kool Herc.
Finally, at 10:45 the God blessed us. Press and the most dusty lookin brothas flogged the stage. But the God stood true. Weaving through the entourage and press, he made sure no area of B.B. King’s went unnoticed. Not a favorite was missed and was delivered in stellar form. With Kid Capri spinnin, The God smoked the joint from beginning to end.
Though the PR sucked, it was sold at least a week before the show.
Missed the show? My heart bleeds for you.
To hell with the clothes. This man is a lyricist. He’s words speak for themselves.

I waited over 10 yrs to see the God perform in NYC, last time I was to see him there was a shoot out right on the floor as soon as My Melody came on—-> SO U know dis God was tight!!… HE Didn’t disappoint me at all, It don’t matter what his jeans was doin’ it sounded just like the albums….. u know how these new rappers (Not emcee’s) sound all high voiced and shit when the crowd starts feelin’ em…. He was “cool, cause I don’t get upset, I kick a hole in the speaker, pull the plug, then I jet”!!! …. he did Paid In Full and he didn’t even have to rhyme it… EVERYBODY IN THE PLACE SPIT IT!!! The God even Crowd Surfed… buh-lee dat!! did one new joint dat was crazy… Kool Herc was in the buildin’… history was in the building that night the trees were blazin’ the liks were flowin’ NO SHOOT OUTS!!! I could have died in peace that night b/c I finally got to see the R rip the mike correctly—-> that was how it should be done!!
Peace to da gods and da earths

RE-AL, I feel you….120% I’m 44 and that standing for almost 4 hours killed me. It was worth every aching millisecond. U can bet, I’ll be up in that spot 2/27…with flip-flops.
If The God would’ve dived a little closer to his right…he was going home with me. I was grabbing and not letting go (oops, sounds a little stalker-like).
2 other memorable moments, in addition to being blessed in true God style.
1. The God asked for a moment of silence in memory of his mother who passed in 2005. The whole place darkened and all you could see was cell phone lights. Soo moving, even choked up the God.
2. I caught The God….smiling…several times. Delicious (from an Earth’s point of view) !!! He was loved. He felt it and enjoyed it…immensely!
Ya’ll sleep on these tickets if you want to.
You’ll be reading what happened on this website….again.
Peace

I’ve seen the god perform about 8 years ago in cleveland. He came out chanting “last platoon” at 4:20 am on April 20th. Not surprisingly the concert was called 4:20/4:20, and was held at a freakin “techno club”. Regardless Ra came thru and laid his shit down like a tru solider.
Yeah we had to wait a minute for the god to come out on the 30th, but for someone who can recite ALL of his joints top to bottom, it was truly magical. Bump all that jean shit, if you looking at his timberlands, you ain’t really feeling the magic up there.
I meet Ra on a Julez Santana video shoot. I was working for free as a prop and had no idea my man was coming thru. I rapped with him (even recited opening of “Follow the Leader” for him and his son. I wasn’t looking for crazy props or anything, I respect the man….And I tell you what, this man is the personafication of “smooth”. he smiled, all humbled and just pressed palms wit me.
Mad digital cams were rolling in the spot. If you going to the show in Feb, like my ass again, best comp some kind of recorder. BB Kings didn’t give a sh@t last time, chances are YOU could get the god on tape.
Oh yeah, his new joint, according to our conversation on the Julez video, is going to be released on “Ra Records”
Peace

Caught The God @ Marc Ecko’s game signing @ Virgin Megarecords on 2/16. Though packed with press, it was a warm and personal setting. Through tears and trembling (my kids were soo embarrassed), I saw, felt, hugged and smelled The God. He was genuine and humble. “Hoped you liked the last show”. Is he for real???!!!. I glared at him in absolute awe and he smiled. I begged him to get a REAL website. Told him I was tired of reading about shit that happened in ’97 on some “unofficial” website. Though they tried to keep him at the table to sign the games, he repeatedly got up to talk and take pictures with everyone from the neighborhood brotha to the European’s who didn’t even know how to speak english, but had “Paid in Full” in their hands. His hug was tight and solid, as if he had known me for years. “I love you God”, I whispered in his ear. “I feel you Ma”, he responded. Sound dangerously obsessed??? Damn skippy!!! Think I give a fuck??? Hell no!!!! In addition to being intelligent, this man epitomizes “cool” more than any gangsta I’ve met or listened to. Fake-ass, underground, wannabe “gangsta” rappers (not “lyriscists”) need to recognize and take notes!

Rakim will certainly come with the Heat……The Man is Serious about his music. Humble is an understatement, having been in his presence he treats you like he’s known you from before none of that celebrity hype.
February 28th, 2006 at 1:49 pm
Well for those that didnt make it the first time (me included), did you go to the encore performance last night? (Feb 27)??? Great show. Caz and Raheim performed again (be sure to check out my website and cop the Caz 7″). He actually spit a verse from the 7inch last night. Rakim is Rakim. Nuff said.
Rakim did perform a new track and it was dope…called Its Nothin or something like that….he said the new album will be out this summer and its called The Seventh Seal….he did a freestyle talking about how it didnt work with Dre and all…dopeness man
Crowd surfing….the audience reciting whole verses and tracks
