Will Game’s career survive October?

From AHH’s Rumor section:

THE GAME IS SAFE FROM JIGGA’S WRATH

We as fans have been doing a lot of talking, but I am here to let you know that The Game is not one of the poor souls that is going to be targeted at Jay-Z’s “I Declare War” show later in the month. WHEW! See, I got a statement from Jimmy Henchmen (Game’s high-powered manager) and he said this: “I personally had a conversation with Jay-Z and the rumor about the stripper tape (because there is none) is totally false and he said he’s not gonna be going at Game, so please correct your statement that there’s a stripper tape and Jay-Z is going at Game cause that’s totally incorrect. Game and Jay-Z don’t have beef, he stated on his album he doesn’t go after legends, thanks.”

I don’t know, I can’t see Jay not going at Game, this dude’s been spouting off at the mouth like a garden hose (no homo). In other news, Cam stated on 106th and Park the other day that he’s ready for Jay, and that all he has to do is say his name. Now Killa’s got a much better chance against Hov than Jim Jones, but he needs to know Jay ain’t no damn Stan Spit. If you clicked that AHH link up there, you also read that Jay and Nas are rumored to be working on the We Major Remix, but if you remember, thats been a rumor since the track showed up on Kanye’s album. How bout this though…how bout Jay and Nas both come out at the Power 105 concert on the 27th and perform that remix? That’s what I’m talking about.

Beneath the Surface: Jim Kahn

Welcome to the debut of Beneath the Surface, a new Nah Right feature where we’re going to be highlighting new, unsigned talent. Since we always keep it thorough over here, I thought it would only be right for the first post to go to some local talent thats on the radar right now.

I’ve known my man Jim Kahn since the glory days of the early 90′s when hip hop was in arguably it’s best creative stage, and when rap was about one thing and one thing only: lyrics. Me and Jim went to school high high school together and we’ve been students of hip hop since the cassette walkman days…you know back when you had that joint with no rewind button and the big dookey head phones.

Jim isn’t getting the first new artist honor just cuz he knows your boy though. This man’s flow is serious and his songwriting skills are bananas. I’m putting up two joints that you all need to get up on now, cuz when he’s bubbling in a couple months there may not be room on the bandwagon…nahimean?

Nore signs to Roc-La-Familia

 nore1.jpg

How do you go from the T.O.N.Y to Reggaeton? Nore went and signed a seperate deal with Roc-La-Familia which he’s gonna use to put out a Reggaeton album called Nore la Familia. Right.  He is still signed to Rocafella, and he will still be releasing his straight hip hop album, One Fan a Day, with them.  Nore, just stop please with this Reggaeton shit man. Your messing up whatever legacy you had with this bullshit.

Beanie’s Stepfather murdered in Philly

There was some bad news for Beanie Sigel yesterday when his stepfather, Samuel Derry, was found murdered in Philly early Tuesday morning. Derry was shot twice in the stomach and his body was set on fire and dumped in an alley on Forrest Avenue in Philly. Police say the body was so badly burned that at first they couldn’t even tell what race the victim was.

The Philadelphia Inquirer reports that detectives are looking into whether the murder was retaliation after Beanie’s acquital on attempted murder charges a couple of weeks ago.  I also read over at AHH that Derry was acquitted of a murder back in ’85, but they don’t think this is related to that case.

Sad shit. Beans, hold your head.

Update: Sohh has new info. One of Derry’s former cellmates was kidnapped this morning by armed gunmen.

Jay-Z grabs cover of Fortune

After making Fortune’s 40 Richest Under 40 list as well as their Most Influential African Americans list this year Hovie is featured on the cover of their latest issue.  The cover story, America’s Hippest CEO, follows Hov to the GQ International Man of the Year awards, into a Def Jam staff meeting and to the Magic Convention in Vegas for a Rocawear presentation.  I can’t find the actual cover pic, so I used that one up there from Fortune’s website. If I find it, I’ll change it later.

Stray Shots

Jin.jpg

Looks like Earl is gonna be spending some time on lockdown. How he has managed to avoid jail up until now is beyond me…

Police are investigating Cuban Link’s connection to the murder of one of his former bodyguards.

Jin (also known as The Emcee) recently brought home 50,000 after winning the Fight Klub battle in the Bahamas this weekend. He beat out Serious Jones, Professor Green, and AX (who I’ll have more on soon), to reclaim the title he lost to Serious in an August battle…

At the same battle, newly signed Rocafella artist Tru Life reportedley aired out Jim Jones saying that he is sick of NY artists “wearing jeri curls in videos, drinking sizzurp, and making crunk music.”

Young Jeezy runs into a little problem with the manufaturer of those damn Snowman T-Shirts.

A script Pac wrote in jail is being turned into a movie, and his sister is putting out a fashion line, Madameveli.

50 calls Kiss, Nas, and Fat Joe window shoppers. Ooooh…wow Fitty, now your spitting, what’s next: Game has bad credit! Cassidy’s car payment was late!

Dame Dash – Corporate Thug

Dame went and got himself charged with assault for punching America Magazine Editor in Chief Smokey D. Fontaine in the chest last week. Money says him and Dame were arguing in Dame’s office and Dame threw the punch and knocked him over a chair. Damn Dame, I didn’t know you had it in you doggie.  Coincidentally Dame’s new reality show, Ultimate Hustler, debuts tonight on BET. Funny how these criminal charges always seems to pop up when celebrities have a new album or TV show coming out huh….
