VH1′s Hip Hop Honors

Friday, September 23rd, 2005

Last night VH1 held its 2nd annual Hip Hop Honors show and several of today’s biggest stars got together to pay tribute to such legends as Big Daddy Kane, Ice-T, and LL Cool J. SOHH has a rundown of the events here, but the most interesting thing I’ve heard so far is how Wendy Williams got her trash talking ass snatched up by her husband:

A SOHH.com source on the scene reports that Wendy was on the red carpet with her camera crew recording for her VH1 show when her husband shoved through the crowd and demanded that she leave.

"Yo… we leaving now!" I can’t believe this bullsh!t," Wendy’s hubby, Kevin Hunter was heard yelling.

But Wendy was apparently moving to slow for her enraged 250 lb, 6ft boo, who then turned around and yelled, "Give him the mic and get your sh!t!! We’re leaving now!" With that, the gossip queen picked up her stuff with the quickness and bounced.

It’s about time someone put that heffer in her place if you ask me. This broad talks so much shit man its incredible nobody’s sent shots at her yet.

On a more positive note, there’s a rumor that Big Daddy Kane may be making a big career move and it may even have been announced at the show last night, but I haven’t heard anything yet. The show airs in a couple days so they may be trying to keep it under wraps til then.  You know how it goes, as soon as I know, you’ll know.  The show airs on VH1 Monday night Sept. 26th at 9:00.

New Papoose…..and Bleek?

We need to all chip in and buy Kay Slay a clue.  I mean if your planning a new Papoose mixtape, who in their right mind says "hummm who would be a good rapper for Pap to collaborate with…..Oh I know! Memphis Bleek!" Yeah, cuz those two even belong in the same room together. Ok, so they’re both from Bedstuy, but that’s where the similarities end…I mean come on, Bleek? Somebody needs to put me in charge of rap ‘cuz I can guarantee you shit like this won’t happen on my watch.

Here we go again…

This guy is the best, you can’t make this shit up. Two dudes in Germany want Earl locked up because of a little ‘incident’ in a nightclub. Apparently one of the dudes went up to X in a bathroom (no homo) and told him that he thought he was hot (no homo), but that Lil Jon was better….So what could X do but slap the shit out of money right? I mean lets be serious, what was he expecting, an autograph?

Banks springs a leak

The Lloyd Banks album hit the internet this week, waaaaay ahead of schedule and its being passed around like a bad cold. 50 can’t be happy about this. The rumor on the web is that Game paid some chick to swipe it from Banks house or car or something. I don’t know, that sounds like Ducktales to me, but you never know with this guy. Your probably saying to yourself, yeah so where’s the link doggie, break down! Nah, I’m good, I don’t need the Interscope machine coming after me.

Wow, I can’t believe Chris Rock just got me to do something I never thought I’d do: watch a show on UPN. His new show, Everybody Hates Chris, premiered tonight and its a good look, so get up on it. My problem is I’m gonna forget all about it and I’ll probably miss the whole rest of the season.

Damn, Beanie just got out and they’re already doing jury selection for his attempted murder re-trial.

G-Unit must be rubbing off on Pastor Murder Mase. The rumor is he shot the fair one with some cat named Jerry Bland in Atlanta. In the mall. What a fucking loser.

Say what you want about Game and Young Jeezy but they seem to be stepping for Katrina victims. Game says he’s considering adopting an orphan from New Orleans, and Jeezy opened up his crib to 14 misplaced hurricane survivors. Game also donated a Bentley for an auction to benefit victims, and Jeezy joined T.I and David Banner to bring a dozen 18 wheelers full of supplies to the Gulf Coast.

New Styles P and Akon video: Can You Believe It

So everybodys wondering how in the hell Kim got 5 mics right? Well the Daily New had this little article yesterday:

NAKED, YES. BUT TRUTH? As Lil’ Kim enters prison today to serve 366 days for perjury and conspiracy, some suspicious-minded folks are asking why The Source magazine awarded its top accolade – five mics, the first such honor for a female rapper – to her new album, "The Naked Truth." Does it have anything to do with the longstanding romantic relationship between Kim’s manager, Hillary Weston, and Source founder and CEO Dave Mays? "Everybody knows the only way to get five mics at The Source is to pay for it by taking out an enormous amount of ads or by hooking up with Dave Mays," joked one music industry insider. Lil’ Kim mouthpiece Ronn Torossian declined to comment on the

alleged relationship, but stressed: "The Source is a big business with hundreds of employees, and I don’t believe Mr. Mays is involved in reviewing individual artists. Kim’s album will and has received rave reviews by music publications and industry bigwigs, and not just by The Source." Mays didn’t respond to detailed messages.

That right there is picture of Lil Kim’s new home, The Federal Detention Center in Philly. Nice huh? Probably not as nice as what she’s used to, but Kim’s from Brooklyn, so I’m sure she’ll be aight.  She reported there today at 2:00 to start her 366 day entence for perjury.

SoHH has some info on Only Built for Cuban Links Part 2. Busta Rhymes is Exec. Producing? That just don’t sound right, but RZA producing 90% of the album is more like it.  Anyway, I just wanted an excuse to use these pics.

I put a couple careers on hold, you could be next…

Awwwh shit this is what we’ve been anticipating all summer. Today on the radio Jay announced that he will be declaring war on a couple of rappers that have been talking greasy about him in the past couple of months. Its all gonna pop off at the Power 105.1 Power House concert at Continental Airlines Arena in Jersey on October 27th. From MTV News:

Some people have rubbed the president of Def Jam the wrong way — and we might just be hearing another "Takeover" in a little over a month. Jay-Z was on New York radio station Power 105.1 on Thursday afternoon and said that he is ready to take it to the battlefield.

"I declare war!" Jay said. Hov told radio personality Ed Lover that he’s been hearing some rappers talking greasy about him and he is going to "air them out" onstage.

Doomsday — at least for some — is scheduled for October 27 at the Continental Airlines Arena in East Rutherford, New Jersey. That’s when Power 105 is staging its Power House concert, for which it’s turned the reins over to Jay for another Jay-Z and Friends outing. Last year, as the Best of Both Worlds tour with R. Kelly crumbled (see "Jay-Z, R. Kelly Part Ways as Best Of Both Worlds Tour Collapses"), the rapper called on some of his homies, like Diddy, Ja Rule, Busta Rhymes and Mary J. Blige, to perform with him on a string of dates.

"I got a lot of records," Hov told Lover. "I’m getting the itch. I need to see the people. It’s time for a good show in New York City … I gotta flip on some people."

Jay said that despite his track record, some rappers are "hard-headed" and "not too many people make it out of the figure-four leg lock. I gotta put ‘em in the choke hold, the Boston crab. I gotta smash a couple of people. … Everybody better make up and be my friend."

Hov was sure to note that his battle raps are just going to be the icing on the cake — his first priority is to give the fans a great show.

Jersey’s Power House isn’t going to be Jay’s last stage stop. One day later, radio station Power 99 in Philadelphia is throwing its own Power House show, which is going to be another Jay-Z and Friends concert. Hov isn’t letting it out of the bag just who will be on his guest list for either show, but Young Jeezy says we shouldn’t be surprised if he pops up. A couple of sources close to Jay also say that the two Power House shows may not be the last Jay-Z-headlined concerts we see this year.

So who’s Jay gonna air out? I know two dudes who I’m sure are at the top of the list, Game and Jim Jones. Game can’t seem to keep his mouth shut and let the beef with Bleek and The Young Guns die. Onhis new Ghost Unit mixtape, after letting the YG’s have it he ends the verse with: "Ya’ll gonn make me make Jay lose his cool". And Jimmy, poor Jimmy. How is his career ever gonna survive a dis from Hovie? He went and opened his mouth talking about how the Roc has crumbled and what not, and his song "Summer with Miami" is basically an answer track to Jay’s "Dear Summer".  Poor kid. Oh well, I hope he had fun this summer. And if you don’t think this is the Jay’s first step out of retirement, you’ve lost your mind.
