Papoose Interview

Monday, August 22nd, 2005

top25papoose.jpg
There’s a new Papoose interview over at DubCNN. He talks about why his name is Papoose, what label he’s signing to, and how his album is gonna bring the East Coast back once and for all.  Here’s a little something:

dubcnn.com: How hard do you think it will be for you to elevate from a mixtape rapper to a rapper with mass appeal?

It shouldn’t be hard. My records is in rotation around the world already! I’m the only unsigned artist that’s been in full rotation! You know what I’m saying? So I already proved that I can take it to that level. But as far as going platinum and selling records, you just gotta pay attention and you will see it. The success will happen, like I said my career is more like a volcano man! It’s been bubbling for years and years, and when it explodes and really errupts, everybody gone see what’s really popping.

……………………………..

dubcnn.com: Who did you look up to when you were coming up?

Big Daddy Kane, Kool G Rap, Rakim, them old school cats..

As if signing to G-Unit wasn’t bad enough, now Mase is claiming that Big L used to steal his lyrics. Let’s just say for a minute that this is true, so what? Why would you wait 5 years to say something now? Mase has had all of the success and fame that a rapper could ask for, while Big L, one of he nicest out of NY ever, died way ahead of his time, and has never gotten the recognition he deserved. Now here comes peanut head trying to fuck up his legacy, like anyody gives a fuck if you two traded bars a couple of times.

From Hiphopdx

“Big L brought me on the scene and I used to rhyme with him… when they used to do records, God bless the dead they would never put me on the records. But all of the hot lines he was saying, and even in his grave I gotta tell this, those were my lines. I used to say those lines in the park and they would put them out in song.”

Em in Rehab

Friday, August 19th, 2005

Ahhh so this is the real reason he cancelled the rest of Anger Management.

From AllHipHop

Eminem has been admitted to a hospital for an addiction to sleeping pills, the rapper’s record label said in a statement.

"Marshall Mathers, a.k.a. Eminem, is in the hospital under doctors’ care. He’s being treated for dependency on sleep medication,” Interscope Records revealed. On Tuesday, the rapper cancelled a European tour with Anger Management 3 citing exhaustion and “other medical issues.” Those other ailments were not immediately released.

The rapper’s label didn’t indicate whether where the rapper was being treated for the dependency on sleeping pills.

That makes more sense then ‘exhaustion’.

Source Editor in Chief resigns

Another chapter was written today in the ongoing saga of The Source when Editor in Chief Joshua "Fahiym" Ratcliffe resigned his position. The abrupt resignation was apparently the result of a dispute over what rating the upcoming Little Brother album, The Minstrel Show, should recieve. Ratcliffe and his editorial staff felt the album deserved a 4 1/2 Mic rating but Owner Dave Mays and ‘co-founder’ Ray Benzino felt otherwise. This is just another example of how Mays and Benzino have run that mag into the ground, and why I can no longer fuck with them. That said, I’m gonna use the rest of this post to big up Little Brother. For those who don’t know, Little Brother is a 3 man group out of N.C. that consists of super producer 9th Wonder, and rappers Phonte and Big Pooh. These niggas are the truth! I just listened to their mixtape, The Chitlin Circuit 1.5 and these dudes are putting out that real fucking hip hop. I haven’t heard anything from the Minstrel Show, but I don’t doubt that it deserves 4 1/2 mics. In conclusion, fuck The Sauce, and if your into real 90′s style hip hop with blaing beats and fire lyrics, check out Little Brother, I won’t steer you wrong.

Kanye featuring Nas: We Major

Wednesday, August 17th, 2005

Here’s a dirty radio copy of "We Major" from Kanye’s album which features Nas and Really Doe. Personally I’m not all that impressed. The beat is ok, and none of the 3 verses really do it for me like I expected. Nas loses again.

Cassidy’s charges lowered, may be headed home

Tuesday, August 16th, 2005

Some more good news for Cassidy when today his charges were lowered from 1st degree murder to 3rd degree murder. He was also awarded bail in the amount of 2.5 million. Usually that ouwld mean he’d be able to post bail and go home today or tomorrow, but the bail order was stayed to allow the prosection to appeal it. But if Cas is lucky, he could be home by next week.  Even though the charge was lowered he will definitley being going to trial on the 3rd degree charge. All of this isn’t just due to good luck, but rather because the defense was able to show through ballistics that the 3 dudes Cassidy and his boys allegedly let off at, fired back, where as it was previously stated that they were unarmed. You may also remember that last month one of the witnesses changed his tune and claimed he lied in his statement to police when he said he saw Cas fire a weapon.

Breaking News: Diddy drops the P

Tuesday, August 16th, 2005

 sean-combs.jpg

Sean Combs has announced that he has dropped the P from his name and from here on will be known simply as "Diddy".  Apparently Puff Diddy felt the P. "was coming between  me and my fans".  I hear that.

From the NY Post:

"Nobody knew what to call me. I’d notice that people were uncomfortable when I’d meet them for the first time, and then they’d ask me what they should call me," he said.

"I even started to get confused myself – and when I’d called someone on the telephone it took me a long time to explain who I was. Too long."

He added: "One word. Five letters. Period."

Amen.

Dame leaving Roc-a-Wear?

Friday, August 12th, 2005

 DameDash.jpg

Hiphopdx is talking about Dame is leaving Roc-a-Wear, but I don’t know about that shit. That would be a pretty big and stupid move for Dame and if it’s true, then why are they the only motherfuckers reporting it?  Here’s what he supposedly told MTV News:

"It’s time to move on, I think," Dash said to MTV last week. "I designed the line until next summer, so they’ll be all right for a year. But I’m trying to go in another direction. I’m a businessman; I have no emotional attachments to any of my businesses. I’m a hustla, I flip things. We’ll do the State Property [line], we’ll do the Team Roc. Pro Keds is killing them. We have the Dame Dash collection with the suits."

I’m not saying he didn’t say that, but maybe they’re blowing his words out of proportin a little bit ‘cuz wouldn’t MTV be reporting the same shit? Well if it does turn out to be true, you heard it here um, second.

Also in Dame Dash Music Group news, Beanie gave State Property the tounge lashing everybody was expecting as soon as he got out of Jail:

From MTV News:

"Do I think they were disloyal for going with Jay[-Z]? Nah," he said. "My whole thing is they were disloyal to me period. … Just not being there, period, for me. Not for the [business] decisions they made. … I was mad because they weren’t loyal to me period. Even when I was on house arrest, before I got booked, I didn’t get a phone call. I never got one letter from any of them since I been jail. Oschino and Sparks are the only ones that kept in contact with me."

Beans also said that it wasn’t even a question of whether he was going to go with Dame or Jay. He said that he fucks with Dame outside of work and that’s his man like that, and even though he still got love for Jay, it wasn’t really a hard choice.
