Listen to the OG Version of Kanye’s “Famous” ft. Young Thug

Thursday, October 6th, 2016

kanye-kim-famous

Kanye’s The Life of Pablo track “Famous” is easily the most controversial song he’s released in some time, mainly because of the infamous Taylor Swift lyric and the ensuing backlash and conflict that it caused. Well, an early draft of the song, initially called “Nina Chop”, has found its way onto the internet and it’s safe to say that this version is even more controversial.

This demo of the track does not feature the Rihanna hook, but instead gives more shine to the Nina Simone sample Ye chopped up, and also features a couple of verses from Young Thug. Most notably though, Kanye’s Taylor lyric is a bit different here as he raps “I feel like Taylor Swift still owes me sex”. Then, he repeats the line almost verbatim, but swaps in the name of his ex Amber Rose. Yikes!

ye-cudi-pat-dean

Here’s a previously unreleased KiD CuDi and Kanye collaboration that made its way on the internet over the last couple of days. It’s been dubbed “Can’t Look Into My Eyes”, but it seems like it’s actually a snippet of a Kanye verse from an alternate, unreleased version of CuDi’s “Too Bad I Have To Destroy You Now” from his Satellite Flight project.

Jay Electronica – Man Up (Unreleased)

Wednesday, July 22nd, 2015

electronica-roof

Some previously unreleased Jay Electronica, which was recorded sometime during the early aughts, has made its way on to the internets this afternoon. If you follow Jay on Twitter, you may have noticed that last week he suggested that he would send one of his followers a new song with directions to share it with the public as the fan saw fit.

This is almost certainly not that song, but it’s another interesting entry in the Electronica canon for fans to pore over. The track, which Jay says he recorded during the first George W. Bush term, references 44’s presidency, the Benzino/Eminem beef and Afghanistan, so you do the math.

MICK – Greetings Earthling: Outkast Rarities & Remixes (Mixtape)

Saturday, April 12th, 2014

Our good friend MICK (formerly Mick Boogie) apparently got inspired to do this mixtape after he saw the “Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik” remix by Diamond D in our “Top 20 Remixes of 1994” feature so he let us drop this. Shouts to him. NAHRIGHT premiere.

A message from MICK:

Greetings Earthling: Outkast, hands down, is one of my favorite groups of all time – in any genre of music. Their music set trends, defined a generation, and created a mood unlike any other. In honor of their Coachella reunion, I put together a fun mix of Big Boi and Andre 3000 rarities, demos, collaborations and remixes. If you’re a MICK (or Mick Boogie – remember him?) fan, you’ll find this similar to the retrospectives I did for A Tribe Called Quest and the Beastie Boys. If you’re looking for Outkast’s greatest hits or stuff from their albums, you’re out of luck. Go to iTunes and buy those right now. If you’re a true fan and looking to dig a little bit deeper and really enter the world of the Dungeon Family – this is made for you. And it’s hella long – maybe TOO long – almost two hours! Lastly, check out the special painted original cover we created – made by Deftone of Jolly Awesome. Take me to your leader…

Joey Bada$$ – 20 Miles (Unreleased)

Friday, March 1st, 2013

Joey Bada$$ liberates a previously unreleased track from a mixtape called New Kid On The Block that he recorded at age 15 under the name JayOhVee. Listening to this now it’s pretty clear how much his flow has advanced since, but this Beta version of Joey was certainly no slouch on the mic.
