The release of Marvel’s latest superhero blockbuster Black Panther is shaping up to be a huge cultural event for Black America and it starts today with the release of the film’s soundtrack, which was executive produced by the very capable pairing of Kendrick Lamar and TDE principal Top Dawg. The album heavily showcases the label’s roster, with ScHoolBoy Q, Jay Rock, Ab-Soul and SZA all lending their talents to the project alongside contributions from Swae Lee, Khalid, Vince Staples, SOB x RBE, Anderson .Paak, Future, James Blake and Mozzy among others.

2 Chainz pops up with a 4-track surprise EP called The Play Don’t Care Who Makes It, which combined with the artwork, is already a classic title. The offering features a couple of appearances from Offset and YG on track #2, “Proud,” as well as production from Street Runner, June James, T-Minus and Cassius Jay.

Price and Oktane of Audio Push continue to ride the momentum they’ve enjoyed for the past couple of years with the release of their new double album, Cloud 909. Over 18 tracks the pair are joined by Eric Bellinger, Jesse Boykins III and Turtle No Joke, and they’ve already dropped three videos from the project, all of which are included below.
A couple of years back SHIRT went from an artist that I considered to be pretty nice to an artist who, when he drops new music, I drop everything to listen. The Queens MC consistently lays down highly entertaining and meticulously crafted verses and his ear for beats is superb. Following the release of lead tracks “Climate Change,” “Palace Intrigue” and “Flight Home,” he delivers Pure Beauty, his first project since joining Jack White’s Third Man Records. The album, available to stream now, was partly inspired by the work of artist John Baldessari, and will be available on black vinyl with alternate artwork by the conceptual artist on February 23rd. The project is 11-tracks deep with production contributions from Steel Tipped Dove, San Holo, Ricky Dubs, Zois, New York, Donnie Fontaine, Chase and others.
