Talib Kweli’s “Surveillance State Freestyle” on Full Frontal with Samantha Bee

Friday, December 16th, 2016

It’s no secret that Full Frontal with Samantha Bee on TBS is the spiritual successor to the Jon Stewart-era of The Daily Show. Apologies to Trevor Noah, but it just is. Check ou this new Mr. Robot themed segment with Ashley Nicole Black that is both informative and educational about the very real problem of mass government surveillance and how it is likely to get much, much worse under the Trump administration, particularly for people of color and other marginalized groups. Be sure to stick around until the 5:33 mark where Talib Kweli lays down a “Surveillance State Freestyle” over his classic “Get By” instrumental. It’s almost not funny because it’s true.

Drake’s Interview with Jiminy Glick

Wednesday, June 8th, 2016

Drake made an appearance on last night’ episode of Maya & Marty, a new variety show from Maya Rudolph and Martin Short that premiered last week on NBC. The segment features Drake sitting for an interview with Short in character as host Jiminy Glick, the oblivious early-aughts persona he created for his series The Martin Short Show and Primetime Glick. What ensues is a hilariously awkward and offensive (for Drake) 4 minute interview. Drake’s straight man chops are seriously top notch.
