Watch Jay-Z’s Rap Radar Interview on Youtube

If you are not a TIDAL subscriber, there’s a very good chance that you haven’t had an opportunity to listen to Jay-Z’s epic sit-down with Elliott Wilson and Brian Miller of Rap Radar, as it was exclusive to the streaming service up until yesterday. In all honesty, I wouldn’t have even been mad if it had remained there because this is a textbook example of adding value with original content. But the powers that be have seen fit to liberate the full interview for the masses and so here’s your chance to catch up.

In one of his most revealing interviews ever, Jay goes on for over two hours about a number of topics many of us probably assumed he would never address directly, considering his tendency to let his lyrics and the symbolism of his visuals speak for themselves. Over the course of the conversation, Hov opens up about his famously strained relationship with Kanye, the elevator fight with Solange that lead to Beyonce’s Lemonade and ultimately helped inspire the 4:44 album, his ownership of TIDAL and his philosophy of empowering Black artists, his mom’s contribution to “Smile,” the meaning behind the names he and Bey gave the twins, moving past beefs with people like Fat Joe and Jim Jones, the death of Prodigy and his respect for the new generation.

The interview covers all of that and much more and it really is a must watch for Jay fans and students of Rap in general, so clear a couple of hours from your schedule and dig in below.
