Spike Lee, Q-Tip, Grandmaster Flash Announce NYC as Host of 60th Grammys

This week, the Recording Academy announced New York City as the host city for the 2018 Grammy awards ceremony, which will mark the 60th anniversary of the biggest awards in the music business. To go along with the announcement, Spike Lee created this short called “NY Stories” which features an array of legendary New York artists highlighting historic locales throughout the 5 boroughs that hold a special place in the history of modern recorded music. Q-Tip appears in front of A Tribe Called Quest’s alma mater Murry Bergtraum High School and Joan Jett shouts out the John Varvatos store that used to be CBGB’s, while both Queensbridge and Marcy projects also get mentions.

The 60th Grammys will be broadcast from Madison Square Garden on January 18, 2018.
