Following a star-studded roll-out that featured Chris Rock and Martha Stewart, Rick Ross will deliver his latest solo project, Rather You Than Me at midnight tonight. The album, which is already available in some markets outside of the US, and has thorughly leaked here as well, clocks in at a tight 14-tracks and features a number of high-profile guests. While we’ve already heard a number of the big-name collabs, there are still some standout tracks you’re gonna want to check for.
Notably, Rozay rides on Birdman and defends the honor of Lil Wayne on the not-at-all-subliminal “Idols Become Rivals”, on which he accuses the Cash Money founder of rocking fake watches, leasing exotics, stealing his artists publishing payments and an unspecified financial slight against DJ Khaled. Notably, he delivers all of this over a flip of the beat from Jay Z’s “Where Have You Been”, on which Hov and Beanie Sigel adressed their absentee fathers.
You’re also going to want to check out the Nas-assisted “Powers That Be” and of course the 5th installment of the “Maybach Music” series featuring DeJ Loaf. As an added bonus, Chris Rock shows up for “Blame Game”-style interludes throughout the tape.
Stream “Idols Become Rivals” below and check back tonight for the full album stream.
