Smoke DZA & Tech N9ne Freestyle Over Pete Rock Beats

Tuesday, November 29th, 2016

“I wear my Yeezys in the rain, give you Hypebeasters nightmares, Dana Dane”

Smoke DZA and Tech N9ne recently stopped by Sway In The Morning to promote their respective new projects (Smoke & Pete drop this Friday, Tech’s The Storm arrives on December 9th) and Sway wasted no time putting them on the spot. With Pete Rock playing original beats from his archives the two trade verses for about 4 minutes or so. Skip ahead to 2:52 for the bars.

Video: A$ton Matthews – Coldest Night In Hell

Tuesday, November 29th, 2016

A young man is lead horribly astray by A$ton Matthews in his new video for “Coldest Night In Hell” off the upcoming Chapovelli project. The song was inspired by the wave of gang violence that enveloped LA last Summer and was dubbed “100 Days, 100 Nights” because of threats made across social media. “I myself have lived this life so I don’t disavow what it is and what it means, but I also know that it has its realities that not everyone is prepared for, or should be a part of. This is just a glimpse of the hell we live in,” Matthews explained to Complex about the visual.

Lil Yachty – Judgement Free

You either enjoy the musical stylings of Lil Yachty or you can’t stand him and think he’s everything that’s wrong with rap in 2016. There’s not much of a grey area in between. In all fairness, the young boy brought a bunch of static upon himself over the Summer when he called Biggie and Tupac “overrated” during an interview, and he has since become a symbol of the creative differences between the older generation and the new. Ebro Darden of Hot 97 and Beats 1 has been heavily involved in this debate, calling Yachty out and exchanging shots with him on Twitter and during his show over the course of several weeks. Yesterday, the two sat down for a grown man face-to-face on Beats 1.

Big K.R.I.T. Breaks Down The Lyrics to “Might Not Be Ok”

Tuesday, November 29th, 2016

Big K.R.I.T had an especially powerful guest verse on Kenneth Whalum’s “Might Not Be Ok” and it felt like it hit even harder because it dropped shortly after that shit show of an election. In this new episode of Verified from Genius, he talks about the emotions that prompted him to write the song following the murder of Alton Sterling, how hard it is for him to still listen to it and breaks down some of the more poignant bars.

Video: Gucci Mane ft. Travis Scott – Last Time

Monday, November 28th, 2016

This is my shit though. Travis and Gucci literally burn it down in the snow along with director Harmony Korine, who famously featured Gucci in his film Spring Breakers back in 2012. Produced by Zaytoven.
