Rick Rubin Interviews Kendrick Lamar for GQ Style

Kendrick Lamar covers the new issue of GQ Style and rather than pairing him off with a music writer, they brought in the legendary Rick Rubin to perform the interview. The pair discuss K.Dot’s jazz influences and his album To Pimp A Butterfly, his reverence for the pen and why he needs to feel inspired to sit down and write, the origin and significance of the song “Alright”, how he has been lyrically influenced by Eminem, his meditation process and what to expect from his next project, which he asks Rick to help him figure out.

You can watch a video of the entire conversation below, or head over to GQ’s site to read a transcript.
