Stream The Birth of A Nation: The Inspired by Album

The new film The Birth of A Nation has been surrounded in controversy for the last couple of months, but not for the reasons you may suspect. Yes, it is a remake of the infamous 100-year-old racist propaganda film by D. W. Griffith, re-told from the perspective of slave rebellion leader Nat Turner, but that’s not the issue. The issue is a rape charge director Nate Parker faced over a decade ago. Although he was ultimately acquitted, the alleged victim ended up committing suicide and there are many new and legitimate questions about whether or not Parker actually committed the crime.

This has lead to widespread calls for a boycott of the film and a shit load of controversy that the studio probably never anticipated. So if you happen to be torn over whether you should go see The Birth of A Nation, here’s a much less controversial companion piece to the film that you should be able to enjoy with a clear conscience. The soundtrack, The Birth of A Nation: The Inspired by Album, is absolutely loaded with bangers by a wide array of artists including, but not limited to, Nas, Pusha T, Meek Mill, 2 Chainz, Wale, Gucci Mane, The Game and Vic Mensa.
