Jay Z Narrates Anti-Drug War Short Film

In a new illustrated short produced by dream hampton and presented by The New York Times, Jay Z breaks down how racism drove America’s infamous ‘War on Drugs’ which was initiated by the Nixon administration and continues to unfairly target people of color to this day.

Jay’s narration highlights the hypocrisy of the disproportionate sentencing guidelines for rock vs. powder cocaine, the devastating effects of the Rockefeller drug laws and similar statutes across the country and how, even as states like Colorado legalize marijuana, people with criminal convictions are frozen out of the legal drug economy.
