Is Apple About to Buy TIDAL?

Thursday, June 30th, 2016

According to reports that surfaced on Thursday (June 30) Apple may be in talks to potentially acquire Jay Z’s TIDAL streaming service. According to sources cited by the Wall Street Journal, Apple is interested in the service because of its strong ties to artists, though those same sources characterized the negotiations as “ongoing”, saying they might not result in a deal at all. For what it’s worth, a TIDAL spokesperson denied that any talks have occurred with Apple.

We went through this back in February when rumors of Samsung’s interest in the platform surfaced. Nothing seems to have come of that, but all of this attention from major tech powers can only be good for the streaming service. Despite their relatively low subscriber base of about 4.2 million, they are clearly seen as a big enough threat (or asset) by these larger companies that they are exploring their options.

Joe Budden – Making A Murderer Pt. 1 (Drake Diss)

“Either Jimmy acting or he really miss a wheelchair”

So this has finally escalated. Over the past couple of weeks, Joe Budden has gotten it into his head that Drake was sending shots at him on the “4PM in Calabasas” freestyle. He went into great detail on a recent episode of his podcast about which lines he feels were directed at him and why. Some of them sound possible, and some of them sound like a reach on Joey’s part to be honest.

But then, PLOT TWIST: Drake says “Pump It Up” in an Instagram video posted by French Montana as a teaser of an upcoming collab for the MC4 album. So maybe Drake was sending shots? Or maybe he’s savvy enough to know how to bait Joe, and the internet, into playing them(our)selves? Whatever the case, Joe has now responded with a new cut called “Making A Murderer Pt. 1”.

He also tosses in a couple of shots at Meek Mill, after the two sparred indirectly on social media over some comments Joe made about him and Nicki. Or some shit. That’s an extremely boring reason for beef, but it’s Summer so I’ll take it.

Listen below.

UPDATED: Joe talks about the diss on a special episode of I’ll Name This Podcast Later.

Towkio – Tear Drop

teardrop

This is a keeper. Towkio’s “Tear Drop” has a nice big sound and is punctuated with a classic “chipmunk soul” sample that was worked nicely by producer Garren. Off Towkio’s new EP which we now know will be called Community Service 2 and should be arriving July 7th.
