Jay Z Gives DJ Khaled the Last OG Roc-A-Fella Chain

Monday, February 29th, 2016

In a new vlog from DJ Khaled, we see Jay Z gifting the keyholder with the final OG Roc-A-Fella Chain from his original collection. Jay notes that he doesn’t even still have one of these iconic pendants in his possession, which makes the piece a truly unique piece of Rap memorabilia. The occasion? Khaled is now being managed by Jay, which is an interesting turn of events when you consider that Jay owns TIDAL and Khaled just inked a deal with Apple Music, one of the streaming giants most formidable competitors. As the clip ends, we hear Jay spitting some previously unheard bars.

Last week, Kanye made headlines with a couple of tweets that suggested his next album will be arriving far sooner than anybody may have guessed. First he announced that he was planning on dropping a new album this coming Summer. Then, a couple of days later, he revealed that the title to this new project would be Turbo Grafx 16, which if you’re too young to remember, was a gaming system released in the late 80’s.

While I wouldn’t put it past Ye to drop another album before the year is out, it’s my opinion that the chances of it actually keeping that title and arriving by this Summer are slim to none. In any event, Ye is already back in the studio with some of his most valued collaborators and advisors, as his right hand man Ibn jasper tweeted out the above picture of a studio session with KiD CuDi, Plain Pat and Mike Dean last night with the caption “TURBO GRAFX 16 day 1.”

Dice Raw – Young, Gifted And Black

Dice Raw closes out Black History Month with a new one called “Young, Gifted And Black,” and it is refreshingly not a freestyle over the classic Kane beat (although that would’ve been dope too). Instead, Dice pays tribute to a number of Black luminaries such as Kendrick Lamar, Jay Z and Diddy over a nice soul sample. Check it out below.

While most of Hollywood was in LA for the Oscars last night, Creed Director Ryan Coogler and Selma director Ava Duvernay were in Flint, MI for their #JusticeForFlint event. The benefit was intended to help out and bring attention to the ongoing water crisis that has gripped the 60% African-American city. During his performance, Vic Mensa performed a special Flint related version of his single “U Mad,” as well as a new track called “16 Shots” about the murder of Laquan McDonald by Chicago police.
