Diddy Charged with Felony For Assaulting UCLA Coach

UPDATED: (7/2) TMZ reports that Puff will not be charged with a felony, but could still face misdemeanor assault charges.

Sean “Diddy” Combs was arrested Monday afternoon after getting into a skirmish with UCLA strength and conditioning coach Sal Alosi. According to a report by TMZ, Diddy tried to hit the coach with a kettle bell, which if you’re familiar with the weight training instrument, could easily take somebody’s head off.

Justin Combs was awarded a scholarship by the school back in 2012 and his time there has been relatively quiet, until now. Diddy is known to attend his son’s practices, but on Monday things took a turn for the worst when he allegedly confronted Alosi for “riding” his son Justin too hard during the session:

Diddy went to the campus today to speak with Alosi — believing he has an “issue” with Justin — but things didn’t go well when he arrived to campus.
Our Diddy sources say the coach would not see him and staff told him to leave … but Diddy went to Alosi’s office instead where Alosi told him to get out and threatened to call security if he didn’t leave.
We’re told Diddy said, “Fine, I’ll call police” … and Alosi snapped — going after Diddy with his hands.
We’re told Diddy insists he grabbed a kettlebell and held it up in a defensive position … but did not attack with an intent to injure the coach.

That account of the incident comes from a source close to Puff, but sources on the team’s side say the attack was unprovoked and that Diddy narrowly missed the man with the kettle bell. He is currently in the custody of UCLA campus police and has been charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon.

UPDATED: Puff has been charged with 3 counts of assault with a deadly weapon, 1 count of making terrorist threats and 1 count of battery. He is reportedly out on either $50,000 or $160,000 bail (it is unclear) as of Tuesday morning. A new sequence of events has also emerged:

At approximately noon, Combs and Diddy came to UCLA’s athletic facility, the Acosta Center, while Alosi was in his office, which is adjacent to the weight room. Combs entered Alosi’s office while Alosi was on the phone, and Alosi asked Combs to wait a moment while he finished the call. Many sources who were in the locker room witnessed an angered Diddy enter Alosi’s office, rattling off expletives at the coach. Alosi then instructed interns who were immediately outside his office to alert campus security. A still incensed Diddy then came around Alosi’s desk, saying that he would get campus security on Alosi’s desk phone. Alosi, then, according to witnesses, put up his hand in a non-threatening way, and instructed Combs to get his father out of the office. Diddy then walked into Alosi’s hand, and told Alosi not to put his hands on him.

In the next moment, according to many on the scene, Diddy attacked Alosi, until interns and other personnel pulled off Diddy. The celebrity broke free again at one point and struck Alosi. The personnel were then successful in getting Diddy out of the office and into the weight room, where Diddy picked up a kettlebell, which is a type of barbell, and then swung in at one of the interns.

Meanwhile, at the G-Unit offices:

UPDATE 6/23: Diddy has released a statement on the incident and his arrest:

“The various accounts of the event and charges that are being reported are wholly inaccurate. What we can say now is that any actions taken by Mr. Combs were solely defensive in nature to protect himself and his son. We are confident that once the true facts are revealed, the case will be dismissed.”
