Jahlil Beats & Beanie Sigel Prepping Still Public Enemy Mixtape

Beanie Sigel and Jahlil Beats are collaborating on a mixtape album, Still Public Enemy, due out sometime this year. Following a snippet of a “Kick in the Door”-sampled joint on Instagram last month, Jahlil tells NahRight it’s a proper follow-up to Beans’ street classic Public Enemy #1. The bulk of the production will come from Jahlil himself, and will feature a variety of records sampled from the ’90s.

The Roc Nation producer also shared his thoughts on the State Property member’s recovery since getting shot last month outside of his home in Pleasantville, New Jersey. “I’m just happy that Beans is OK now,” he says. “He just came home. As soon as he get right, we going right back in the lab.”

In an Instagram post by Neef Buck, Beans was seen leaving the hospital in stable condition. However, according to a report by TMZ, Beans had one of his lungs removed due to bullet fragments. He’s currently resting at the Bacharach Institute for Rehabilitation in Pomona, New Jersey.

Jahlil Beats on the Still Public Enemy mixtape/album and working with Beans:

“I love working—just doing whole projects with people. Just doing the bulk of people’s shit. It’s like with me and Beans doing, we taking it back. I sampled some old records, like old records from the ‘90s, but put my twist to it. It ain’t like he shying away and trying to do the new shit to fit in with the young dudes, you know what I am saying? It’s like [the] same shit I’m doing with Meek right now. We doing some real street shit, but it fit with what is going on right now. And Beans never lost it. He’s only getting better as far as the lyricism and shit like that. “

“I think that Beans is gonna surprise ‘em too. We doing Still Public Enemy. His last big joint with Green Lantern was Public Enemy #1. This joint is Still Public Enemy. It’s like a mixtape, but it’s like an album because [it has] all my shit. Shit gonna be crazy. I got some surprises on that joint. I think Beans is still getting Green Lantern. Ain’t nothing changed, we just doing shit up-to-date. Some shit that is modern right now.”

“Honestly, I couldn’t even say [if Still Public Enemy is coming out this year.] I’m just keeping him in my prayers and hoping he recovers 100 percent. Then, when he ready, I’m ready to go right back in and putting this shit out. I think the time is not ticking for Beans, you know what I mean? I think people respect Beans. A lot of people in the industry respect him lyrically. We just waiting on Beans. Hopefully, he get right. It’s just a blessing that he made it through such an unfortunate situation. But it is what it is. God do things for different reasons. Hopefully, this will have him super focused. I know he was super, super focused. That’s the reason why we were working cause I knew that this dude was super ready. He was ready to make some shit happen. I’m excited. And he’s a good dude on the other side. He’s a real dude. I know he’s gonna win at the end of the day.”
