Talib Kweli, 9th Wonder & Pharoahe Monch Partner for Indie 500

Speaking to Okayplayer at the A3C Festival in Atlanta, Kweli, 9th Wonder and Pharoahe Monch discuss their new joint venture, Indie 500. Comprised of the trio’s respective companies, Javotti Media, Jamla Records and W.A.R. Media, the partnership is described as a continuation of the Native Tongues legacy and a platform for independent Black music to flourish.

Monch explains:

“We looked at each other and we were like, we should do business together and music together. Not just on the rap side, but on the touring side, the business side and sharing of information. It’s empowering, it’s beautiful, and it’s important for that to be known. To inspire younger generations to not only rap, but to start companies and corporations.”
