Malik Yusef Describes New Kanye Album

It’s YEEZY ALBUM SEASON and Kanye is being as Kanye as he can possibly be about the new project, revealing very little and letting the speculation machine do his marketing for him. There is a small group of human beings (VIPs if you will) spread across the globe (I’m assuming) that have heard a preliminary version of the album, but nobody is really talking about it. And so the internet is left to disect passing comments and tidbits from people in the know, because that’s just what the internet does.

Longtime collaborator, G.O.O.D. Music co-architect and ‘Ye muse Malik Yusef recently offered some insight into the new album to Rolling Stone. He likened to a pair of boots:

“This album is different. It’s like a pair of Timberlands; like how Timberlands are not quite leather and not quite suede. It’s not the smooth, slick Chicago music sound we have right now and it’s not the ruggedness of just ‘hip-hop hip-hop hip-hop.’ We’re still working like a motherfucker. We’ve been all around the world [recording].”

He went on to say that although he and Kanye didn’t exactly see eye to eye on the creative direction of Yeezus, they’re getting along swimmingly during these new sessions and confirmed that ‘Ye does have about 20 songs finished.
