Honestly though, this is how you know SXSW is over. And I’m not just saying that to sound prescient because I decided not to go this year. Miss Info ain’t lying. As far as corporate carpetbagging goes, it’s been pretty bad for a couple of years now, but looking at the size and scope of this show and the footage from the Kendrick & Q event, I think we’ve finally reached critical mass. It used to be that the really big artists would show up towards the end of the week to bat cleanup, but now it’s just an all out orgy of sponsored mini-festivals from jump. Does anybody even care about discovering new artists anymore? Or nah?
