Jay-Z To Sell Stake in Brooklyn Nets

Yesterday evening Yahoo! reported that Jay-Z plans to give up his small ownership share in the Brooklyn Nets in order to avoid a conflict of interest with his new sports management firm Roc Nation Sports. An unidentified source indicated that Jay hopes to have the deal done by June, which would allow him to approach players entering this year’s NBA draft. In the following clip, Bloomberg finance reporter Dominic Chu speaks on Jay’s contributions to the team and why this move is necessary for Roc Nation Sports to move forward.

Perhaps more importantly,  Jay can finally stop pretending to like the Nets and go back to rooting for the only NYC basketball team that matters.

Gentrification = good for the middle and upper class.

Bad for people in poverty. Means a constant state of displacement.

    cBc.

    ==================
them crackers dont support black businesses

they wanna take what blacks & hispanics built from the ground up

blacks are treated like palestinians in this country, i swear

    especially the poor among us

    Emphasis on “small.”

Jigga’s stock certificate was printed on old newspaper.

    LOL

Some of you who never owned stock won’t understand that one.

    ^yea I cant co that @ all.

but its a cycle that will never end. ridin thru da city other looks like a war torn country. liq stores and churches every corner ababndoned houses skrait poverty status.

they allow the property value to get below zero damn near then buy all the property develop it push niggas out

    rename tha community

    every city in america

  7. Gob Bluth Says:

its not right that people who built that community up

    ^

    debatable,

look at philly, you can buy a house for 16k, that’s not building up a community

a lot of people in Brooklyn that own houses black/latino are cashing out right now, i don’t wanna see niggas getting kicked outta their homes but look at our neighborhoods , they have no value whatsoever

it’s a complicated issue i know, i’m just in my hustler mode right now

    Neither can I.

But some black don’t overstand the adverse effects that come from it.

Whether you had to move, or whether you had to deal with the new niggas coming in shooting shit up because they had to.

Some of us are just different.

  9. The Architek Says:

Gentrification is a necessary evil in some places in order to stimulate communities and local economies to make money.

The thing is, for the right amount of money, you can declare any low-income neighborhood as blighted and basically stomp-out current residents into oblivion. Never mind that it just perpetuates the same set of circumstances and ills they experienced before, just in a new location. Brooklyn is a fucking diagram of classicism and income disparity.

NYC has a legion of yuppies that think the “culture” is having some modern Greek restaurant as opposed to a thriving Greek community/neighborhood.

  10. Black Says:

    look at philly

    ^^^^

Gentrification doesnt build up a community it tears it down and replaces it. Its segregation based on socio economics. Forced poor people flight.

I respect the cold blooded capitalism of it.

Dawg, they call my mother’s block “no love”. The store on the corner was closed down and we called that jawn “the murder show”. Why: wanna see someone get shot? Post there on a Friday and stay low. Somebody getting they wig pushed back.

From 55th & Ashland to 63rd and Raccine… Man, listen. I liken the scenery to actual factual Haiti.

You ain’t seen poverty until you seen niggas out there with the buckets scraping snow to put on kerosene heaters.

You don’t wanna see it either.

  12. F YOU PAY ME! Says:

yea you can buy a house for 16k in on a depleted drug block nigga

    fuck is your point

    lmao

At the same token, why do we destroy our hood to ruins in the first place?

So owning Slaves sounds appealing to you?

    Stop it.

  15. TS-LTE Says:

Either side just can’t/don’t/won’t get it though.

Like JDS said, it’s a necessary evil based off politics alone that may be over some of ya heads.

  16. Gob Bluth Says:

Wait so niggas will cosign selling drugs to their own people, “shooting shit up because they had to” ?

but i’m wrong for wanting to cash out from gentrification ?

let’s be real here as a people we’ve been put in a tight spot, theres no denying that but we ain makin it better for ourselves

  17. TS-LTE Says:

yea you can buy a house for 16k in on a depleted drug block nigga

    ^

    16?

Come to Chicago. I can show you houses on the grid for $5k.

But you can also get a really good house off the tax list for about $20k with you get some research and politicking skills.

  18. Black Says:

    @FUPM

Lol yeah I was thinking that. Buy a crib for 16 racks if you want to.

I guarantee that shit aint nowhere you wanna live.

  19. F YOU PAY ME! Says:

    SICK

come on god you kno beyter

thrrow crack guns hot cheetos high rise project buildins in the burbs

it will be destroyed in a decade

    niggas aint shit

  20. Stop it 5 Says:

Gob Bluth wants to capilize on his own people. Modern Day Slave owner, I’m sick. What color are you?

  21. The Architek Says:

let’s be real here as a people we’ve been put in a tight spot, theres no denying that but we ain makin it better for ourselves

    ^^

    That’s true in some cases.

But gentrification is often more about wiping the slate clean to build anew rather than investing in what exists now and already working.

  22. TS-LTE Says:

At the same token, why do we destroy our hood to ruins in the first place?

    Those uncomfortable truths(c)hw

    ^

2 things are at play here though.

    Us (yes)

And lack of allocated funds to do something with.

So, really don’t no one give a fuck. Not even you. I been saying this for a minute and y’all told me I was in my high horse for speaking about it, and trying to do my lil thing.

    So…. Ya know.

  23. Black Says:

but i’m wrong for wanting to cash out

    ^^^^^

Not in the least bit. Niggas tried to fraud the 9/11 fund… anything goes when you tryin to make bread in America.

Just cant spin it like gentrification benefits all.

  24. tHe kiD fRanKiE Says:

    16?

Come to Chicago. I can show you houses on the grid for $5k.

^i was thinkin same…shit you can cop sumn for 4-5-10…put 20-40 into and flip it

however who goin cop it, cuz ray ray and shenekea on sec 8 next door wit 10 kids drivin the prop value down.

But I see your vision. I guess if you didnt grow up in the hood or w/e why would someone care about gentirifcation(sp)

  25. F YOU PAY ME! Says:

a nigga will get a good job

instead of stayin in his coommunity he get far away from it as possible

if all the niggas in the hood that acquired money and a good lifestylee to support they fam didnt say “fuck u niggas im out” the hood wouldnt be the hood

its jus be a black community full of niggas thats doin good for themselves

    but nah

niggas ratha live where the crackas at

    why

    niggas aint shit thats why

  26. Gob Bluth Says:

Lol yeah I was thinking that. Buy a crib for 16 racks if you want to.

I guarantee that shit aint nowhere you wanna live.

    ^

    that was my point

    no shots

  27. AFGun Says:
