Black folks still the gate keepers of hip hop.

Eminem: over 42 million tracks and over 41.5 million albums sold in the United States. Over 100 million albums sold worldwide.

So the most powerful rap artist ever – without any debate – is white. He brought Dre back and now Dre is the top earner in music. So yeah, it’s really two categories, Em and then ‘the other rappers’.

Now on to execs. Please name just one Black with the weight of Jimmy Iovine or Liar Cohen. Please, just one. Yep, thought so.

Sorry, but Black people ain keeping no gates in rap except for made-up shits (also known as ‘vanity labels’) that are just glorified A&R situations. Look at all the rappers that have been GOOD, MMG, or any other label. If Ross had power, Pill wouldn’t be unemployed right now. Whereas if Iovine signs you he’s gonna put the weight of an entire real label with real buildings and employees behind you and the only place you gonna go is to #1.

When it comes to rap, it’s clear where the power lies.
