atlantic co-signed it but wanted pete to not have a rebuttal for it which made the producers nervous…pete accepted a gag order…

but then he reneged on it?

    thas the beef?

    ^^

Sounds to me like lupe had a concept over that beat and they reached to Pete. Well they could use Pete’s exact version so he had to remake it.

Pete was hot at the label fuckery and put Lu on blast in the process.

  3. tHe kiD fRanKiE Says:

U commentin from the bench injured reserve status KiZZA

U got two torn ACls shoulder injury and two broke index fingers

    Ur career is through

    Time for you to retire

Ya jokes aint comin close to landin

    U desperate washed up already…

Maybe this game ain’t for you!

    Ask me how I kno….

    I did this to you!

    Ur finished!

  4. Kush Kennedy Says:

Imagine what your real life is like…

    ^
Its summer, off of school, and my girls are happy

You’re obese with a lisp, posting fake bitches to make yourself feel better.

Nothing you type can change that.

  5. hood trill stunting aka trap day man Says:

Pete was hot at the label fuckery and put Lu on blast in the process.

    >so lupe didn’t say in that interview that pete agreed not to say anything about the beat being remade?

i’m jus asking…did you hear that?

  6. JDS of the Cobra Kai Dojo Says:

but jus so i got a clear understanding…

    ^^

    Nah…

Lu’s manager wanted him to do the record.

Lu’s camp went to Pete about the record. Pete didn’t want to do it but said for Lupe, he would. But Pete said they had to clear the sample with Warner since he doesn’t own the rights.

They got the original, but there are parts of the beat that are sampled that can never be cleared so they were forced to remake it.

They did. Pete didn’t like it, spoke out, and fucked up Lu’s rep.

They spoke again. Pete was supposed to redact what he wrote on twitter to salvage Lu’s & the records’ credibility but he didn’t.

  7. Jersey*Made*me Says:

It was funny seeing niggas rep gangs all crazy in college. The ones that were bout that life forreal and would actually beat the shit outta niggas on the Reggie were even funnier than the frauds to me.

    ^^

    God bless basketball….

I NEVER would’ve set foot on a campus if I wasn’t 6’5″. In the words of Beans “I ain’t chase that dream”. A coach told me i’m wasting a chance to get outta the city and see something new,I was tired of watching my back for beef and cops and fighting so I said fuck it. Passed the GED and went to JUCO and did my thing.

I met niggas from damn near all 50 states in my travels through college. A lot of people don’t realize how many niggas are from NOTHING on these college teams. I had teammates pumping coke, weed, guns, cutting hair, scamming white bitches, whatever it took. That shit was the streets with books,LOL. I had the time of my life and got some live connects wherever I go and vice versa. We aired a few niggas out and fucked the club/bars up a few nights, blew trees, got toasted and had the time of our lives.

    College>>>>>>

  8. tHe kiD fRanKiE Says:

    Lies pon lies

  9. rex hussla Says:

I have love and hate for Lupe…

I ride with him sometimes, and other times he just comes off like a total out of touch fuckboy

  10. Big_seth Says:

    rapradar.com/2012/05/23/pete-rock-lupe-fiasco-reconcile/

    ^^

The producer tells the story at the bottom of this page.

  11. tHe kiD fRanKiE Says:

    What.community.college.do.u.attend?!?

U a duffs business Everest institute type clown

  12. hood trill stunting aka trap day man Says:

They spoke again. Pete was supposed to redact what he wrote on twitter to salvage Lu’s & the records’ credibility but he didn’t.

    >oh ight.

    this is over tweets? again?

    smh

  13. rex hussla Says:

If Pete resisted it, why would Lupe even pursue it any further?!?!

    Doesn’t make sense.

This dude totally rebelled against his label last go around, complained about how he hated his album and what they made him do.

Now he just does what he’s told by his people? I thought dude was a rebel?

  14. Big_seth Says:

    >so lupe didn’t say in that interview that pete agreed not to say anything about the beat being remade?

    ^^

    I have no idea. I didn’t listen.

It’s just fuckery. Pete is a God but he need to fall back.

Lupe of course gets hyped when attacked. Same shit with the tribe debacle.

  15. JDS of the Cobra Kai Dojo Says:

He should have just left the record alone.

He should have seen the box of worms that it was once he found out he couldn’t get the original.

Let me not be Captain Hindsight, though.

  16. b Says:

    lUPE THEE ASSHOLE

  17. Big_seth Says:

Hopefully these niggas reconcile and make some music together.

That would be dope. Lupe and Pete album.

  18. JDS of the Cobra Kai Dojo Says:

    can > box

  19. jderrida Says:

    lulz

    >>> Lupe

When he said Pete didn’t want him to touch the record he shouldn’t have remade it.

  20. Jersey*Made*me Says:

    @rex

I peeped that too. Lupe bugging…smh

  21. tHe kiD fRanKiE Says:

    Where the transcripts?!?

  22. rex hussla Says:

Sounds like it’s all squared away…

  23. hood trill stunting aka trap day man Says:

    It’s just fuckery.

    >i’m jus tryna understand the ulterior fuckery tho.

so pete wasn’t supposed to reveal that pete was gonna work with him after this fued became public & was supposedly resolved on twitter?

why the greats jus lettin twitter body them so easily?

  24. Jersey*Made*me Says:

    @JDS

I wouldn’t have done the record either…i’m listening to it and it sounds mixtape status.

He’ll always be #2 on that beat anyway.

  25. b Says:

lol @ frankie laughing at his own comments. strange kid.

  26. Chief Ali Says:

    ROFF

Pete Rock is a legend and his legacy as a groundbreaking producer will always be in tact, but him running to twitter to air out his grievances is some hoe shit, especially if he already agreed to make an exception for Lupe to use the record.

Negus don’t see the puss in Pete Rock? Homie got all homotional on twitter (thats not what legends do), halfway shitting on Lupe, then backtracking talmbout he got nothing but love for the dude and his beef is not with him. But Lupe’s the fuckboy in this case?

    K.

  27. rex hussla Says:

Sounds like they approached Pete…he said nah.

They went ahead and finished the track without the sample.

So in Pete’s defense, he’s probably like “well why the fuck would you ask?”

Sounds like what happened to the Beatnuts when J. Lo came out with “Jenny from the Block” and jacked “Watch Out Now”.

Pete has been jacked for credits a million times, I don’t think he plays that shit anymore.

  28. jderrida Says:

    Controversy sells.

  29. Big_seth Says:

I think using that as your lead single is dumb. But Lu probably had a concept.

The song is dope. The beat is meh.

But it’s not like lu was the first one to re use that sample.

Let’s be real. A gang of niggas have but that beat with much less dope lyrics.

  30. Chief Ali Says:

why the greats jus lettin twitter body them so easily?

    —-

    This though.

    >>>>>>Airing grievances on social networks

  31. JDS of the Cobra Kai Dojo Says:

    @ Jerz

    Word. It’s jarring.

Lu is an excellent wordsmith but he doesn’t possess a portion of CL’s flow (an underrated flow btw).

  32. Kush Kennedy Says:

Besides perfecting your “female ether” tactic, have you ever achieved or anything in life?

You’re obese – you lose to fitness
You have a lisp – you lose to speech
You misspell every post – you lose to school
You call your dad to avoid going to jail – you lose to maturity
You post fake bitches on a website- you lose to honesty & integrity
You ask for girl advice when you pushin 35

Shit you just lose at life, look at yourself b.

  33. rex hussla Says:

Pete never called out Lupe on those twitter messages either, he was airing out the label, producers and the politics of it all. Sounds like they were gonna go ahead and do him dirty if he didn’t stick up for himself.

  34. hood trill stunting aka trap day man Says:

i really think it’s the fact that atlantic made it a certified single that got pete aggy.

cuz if it were the original troy & hov put it on itunes to send a message about kids needing water in africa with all the proceeds going to them…

pete would applaud & cosign it.

but…the fact he talked to lu, atlantic & seen the sampling was outta his hands he sayin it’s sacrilege.

  35. Big_seth Says:

Sounds like they approached Pete…he said nah.

They went ahead and finished the track without the sample.

So in Pete’s defense, he’s probably like “well why the fuck would you ask?”

Folks just posted that Pete agreed to let Lupe do it cuz its Lupe.

    Not Wale. Lol

  39. Chief Ali Says:

haha, only a keystyle can squash this

  40. tHe kiD fRanKiE Says:

    What community college?!?

    Im waitin Pinocchio

  41. Jersey*Made*me Says:

    @Chief

It’s NEVER cool to remake a tribute song,in any genre.

The finished product is meh anyway,he should’ve just rocked on an original beat.

It’s not even about the sample for me,it’s the respect factor. The song is named after a dead man. C’mon b…

Pete Rock did react kinda funny style though, can’t argue with that. Say what you mean and own it PR.

i really think it’s the fact that atlantic made it a certified single that got pete aggy.

    ^

word. Because like he said, it’s a tribute song, and it’s a track that pretty much cemented his legacy in music.

That shit transcends all genres, I remember playing it in one of my art classes and the old 60 year old lady teaching the class looking all overcome with emotion…she had us run it back 3 times in a row! hahahaaa

All the classics get raped at some point though. I remember Joe and Mystikal bastardizing Pharcyde’s “Passin Me By” SMH, most tracks have been re-done.

  43. JDS of the Cobra Kai Dojo Says:

Folks just posted that Pete agreed to let Lupe do it cuz its Lupe.

    ^^

I mean, that’s what Lupe is saying. Idk where Pete’s head was at.

  44. b Says:

he got robbed- you lose to dignity

  45. Jersey*Made*me Says:

CL’s flow (an underrated flow btw).

    ^^

I’m guilty of underrating him too…and I actually own their whole catalog.

It took for the game to get like it is now for me to appreciate CL properly(nah).

  46. rex hussla Says:

Fuck it…Pete Rock got a little too aggy but why not?

He’s doing his thing, still making music and touring everywhere. He doesn’t need the shine if he isn’t comfortable.

90% of dudes in the hip-hop game would let Waka Flocka sample their shit as long as they got a cameo in the video, at least he’s standing for something.

  47. tHe kiD fRanKiE Says:

He pays for pussy-u lose to bein a real nigga

  48. hood trill stunting aka trap day man Says:

That shit transcends all genres, I remember playing it in one of my art classes and the old 60 year old lady teaching the class looking all overcome with emotion

    >yeah i had that lupes track bumpin loud in the crib when it dropped & my son jus stopped in front of the computer mesmerized by it.

it’s those horns…that sample is some powerful shit. obviously.

  49. Chief Ali Says:

It’s NEVER cool to remake a tribute song,in any genre.

The finished product is meh anyway,he should’ve just rocked on an original beat.

    —–

word, i still haven’t heard the song, but negus remake tributes all day. NO IDEA’S ORIGINAL.

if the joint was so close to Pete’s heart, why wouldn’t he just tell Lupe to stay the hell away from it instead of making a half assed concession? But word, he could’ve opted for something more original for a lead single. Both these negus lost me with this scenario, Pete’s behavior just seems hoeish lol.

  50. b Says:

he crotch watches- u lose to your inner thoughts

  51. hood trill stunting aka trap day man Says:

All the classics get raped at some point though. I remember Joe and Mystikal bastardizing Pharcyde’s “Passin Me By” SMH

    >but yo…

explaining to a chic that doesn’t know about the original & lettin her hear it tho>>>

  52. WhywonttheseniggasSTFU Says:

anyone got the inception soundtrack handy?

  53. Kush Kennedy Says:

U spit dat garbage not me! Don’t be sad

U been tryn recover ever since

    It’s over for

  55. Jersey*Made*me Says:

Niggas getting too flagrant with the sampling too.

French Montana renegaded Lords Of The Underground on they joint and didn’t even have them niggas in the visual…

They live one 15 minute train ride away from French Montana’s old bootleg cd and dvd stand….shit’s disgusting.

  56. tHe kiD fRanKiE Says:

Oh so y’all goin stick together huh?!?
