Wale strong armed his way into Spitta’s studio session months ago and fortunately for Wale his MMG/WB debut did modestly well w/ Lotus Flower Bomb going gold, so why wouldn’t Warner push this record as a first single for Curren$y…..It has one of their money makers heavily featured as well as their new breadwinner doing his thing. Some artist just don’t have that star quality bout em to carry a whole record by themselves in a labels eyes… Niggaz being too critical of another niggaz movement that they have no financial obligation or investment…
But it screams of label synergy more then artistic choices.’
Spitta didn’t look like he even wanted the nigga involved with the recording session.
cosign the need for more Free Mason/Tears of Joy introspective Ross rhymes
He spoke of the morality of the upcoming album at the end of Rich Forever & that’s always been one of the more interesting parts of his persona, when he drops the act and speaks from a true perspective of a human being & not the character he’s created.
If he nails that, God Forgives, I Don’t could be his best work yet.
I doubt that’ll happen tho. Those type of records don’t move units.
I joke about Wale’s strong-arming tactics, becuz so many ppl are overly-critical of a simple riding n’ smoking type record….In the youtube clip….YES….Wale comes off sorta annoying, but Curren$y was content w/ the musical outcome in the end….He coulda easily told Wale….Nah, nigga, this beat is just for me n’ the homies! To me, the creation of the record seemed genuine and real no fake shit involved, unless WB gave Wale the address to this niggaz studio session and said “Get on that niggaz song!”….It’s a solid song in my opinion, Spitta needs guest features on his tracks to keep ppl interested…..Wiz doesn’t have this problem at all, if anything, I’d like to hear less Chevy Woods and Lola Monroe and more Wiz n’ Juicy J…..Spitta gotta label deal, “allegedly” from WB he’s a boss, Wale an employee he coulda told Wale “Beat it” if he wanted, unless that MMG money long n’ Wale got mo’ bread than Spitta….Either way, niggaz is too critical of a song about smoking n’ chilling….think about it….
YO WHITE PEOPLE ARE LOSIN THEY MINDS BECAUSE COACHELLA (WHICH IM TOLD IS A MUSIC FESTIVAL) IS ABOUT TO SELL OUT OR SOLD OUT OR WHATEVER. SO WHILE MINORITIES IS SHOOTIN THEYSELVES OVER JORDANS THAT SOME AMPUTEE CAMBODIAN ORPHAN MADE IN A SNEAKER FACTORY DEATH CAMP, WHITE PEOPLE BOUT TO START KILLIN EACHOTHER WITH POISONOUS TEA LEAVES OR SOME SHIT
Hey, Wale got them ladies humming his simpish tunes…. He has a lane in the music industry w/ his newfound MMG allegiance….. I’m not as bothered by Wale’s music as sum of y’all might be… His pairing w/ Curren$y makes sense, becuz Spitta is a weed/stoner rapper it’s hard to market artist that fit into niche categories….If he linked up w/ Ross on the first single might’ve came off a lil’ too hood reminiscent of that “We’re the cash at” single….which I thought was dope as well….If he linked up w/ French, he got the NYC tri-state but he wouldn’t be known out west….French is known in LA, but they don’t spin his music on the radio as much becuz it’s NY shit…. Wale is a mid-level C-B list rapper w/ a good national buzz, women like him and teenage kids dance to his bullshit…. Both niggaz smoke weed n’ rap, so why wouldn’t they collab? Shit’s a cool song….It’s no “Recipe”, tho……Like I said Kendrick Lamar n’ Dr. Dre got it…….Think the west bout to have another resurgence in HipHop before the east does…
