    3. They were part of the culture for ages but didn’t love it. So once they hit 30 they fell back on the music & started listening to old soul records like their parents in an attempt to be “grown”.

terrible perspective. it’s not up to the old heads to support new music. that’s the youth’s job, just like it was the youth’s job to support 36 Chambers, Ready to Die, Doggystyle, Chronic, Illmatic, Reasonable Doubt, etc. Trust, the people who were teens during the Juice Crew heyday weren’t the ones baring the brunt of responsibility for sustaining the culture 15-20 years later. it’s up to the kids of today to carry on tradition and support the quality shit. unfortunately they’re too fucking gay, stupid and retarded to take on such an arduous task apparently.

    ^

why should kids support what YOU deem quality. If so, you wouldnt have bought rap music either cause your parents didnt like it. Essentially if you want what you call quality to remain, you got to prove its commercially viable and buy it. The kids buy what they deem as quality; Wiz, Lil B etc. Who then prove commercially successful and get backing. Theyre not complaining about the old rap going out.

You want it, you buy it. Simple as.

most people buy what they are programmed and influenced to like..

if you hear a song enough, youll catch on..

if you dont hear or see a song/album, how can you buy it?..

there’s a reason why its called “programming”

All of that’s true, but only to a certain point. You ever talk to these high school kids? You could play Jay E or Nas for most em for a week straight and they ain’t gonna like it.

but if you think there’s no “conspircies’ or “politics” involved in who gets air-play and distribution and marketing pushes, then so be it

    ^
oh nah fully agree with this, i just meant theres other factors

The politics go into entertainment as a whole. All influencing attention levels

Quick reality TV rather than dramas that hold the attention. Music videos that dont hold a screenshot for more than 7 seconds. Social media with constant updating rather than long conversations. Etc Etc Etc

All reduce attention spans. That way, when something major happens, attention spans are so low people forget before they can react.

Remember KONY? Neither do the kids

  116. E aka Mac with the Cheese Says:

it isn’t really a conspiracy theory, there’s marketing team/research that goes into songs & product placement is important too

it’s corporate synergy radio plays songs name dropping material objects as filler for commercials about material objects that should be bought

at same time though, rappers with a message are lazy as fuck (c) Jay Electronica

  117. Bricktop Says:

why should kids support what YOU deem quality.
    ^
maybe i’m not making myself clear, lol. it’s up to the kids to make that distinction (just like the kids of my generation chose Mobb Deep, CNN, the Lox, etc..). and they chose Wiz, Drake, and Nicki Minaj to replace the former titans of hiphop.

  118. Tong Po Flo Says:

    —–

    true..

but thats cause they already been brainwashed and programmed to like this current bullshit by all media sources..

current music is trend based and not talent based..

and kids (and women) are natural suckers for trends

  121. Bricktop Says:

most people buy what they are programmed and influenced to like..

Who’s gonna score if the big 3 have an off night?

Yeah, they be dropping crazy numbers, durant dropping 50, westbrook 30, harden in the high 20’s.. And they still only win by a small margin.. So yeah the numbers are amazing, but you still nearly lost the game?.. You can’t count on anyone else for double digits at all.

Plus they got a young coach who will be out-coached in the playoffs

I got the Lakers, and the spurs ahead of okc.

No doubt there is a plan to get an audience to like certain shit. I can never blame that alone for the current state of things. Mufuckas gotta take responsibility for themselves. These kids grew up in the information age, if they wanted something else they could easily find it. Nah, they’ll just keep singing along to the bullshit, screaming YMCMB and posting Drake “gems” on their FB wall.

I just stumbled upon this interesting theory

Someone, (I dont know how) has discovered that Nas’ highest selling albums are the ones that are actually good.

The same group of researchers also found out that Nas lowest selling albums, were the ones that were not that good.
