But we all know Life Is Good will fall short of expectations.

Or it’ll be his 3rd classic album.

That’s how it is with Nas.

“They thought I’d make another Illmatic but it’s always forward I’m movin, Never backwards stupid, here’s another classic” – Nasir Bin Olu Dara

    U don’t consider IWW a classic?

  20. Danny Ocean Says:

Currensy’s unorthodox flow and imagery are what make him ill, but it’s also the reason why I believe he’s peaked. his raps go over the heads of the masses.

    same with Willie The Kid.

    yes

  22. AmpGeez a.k.a. Amphernee Hardaway Says:

Random Thought – Beanie Sigel’s The Solution was trash. Hov set that nigga up & finished his career as a solo artist by letting that shit hit retail. No way was Beans leaving the Roc to go anywhere but the Koch graveyard/strike> E1 Records after that one. Kinda like punishment for rocking with Dame during the split.

    Well played Sean. Well played.

  23. AmpGeez a.k.a. Amphernee Hardaway Says:

    ^^^

I consider Illmatic & IWW classics.

I waffle on Stillmatic all the time. I usually get convinced Stillmatic is a classic but when I’m drunk by myself, I can’t excuse “Smikin” or “Braveheart Party” or “Rule”.

And “Got Yourself A Gun” gets ruined by that hokey hook & psuedo Dr. Dre production.

  27. Das racist Says:

I keep hearing that people watch that show for what it can be, and not what it is

But Curren$y has the whole weed gimmick going. He’s transformed weed raps into an entire movement.

Willie needs a gimmick. Or a supergroup. Or a partnership with one of the “It” producers like No. I.D., Ye, Just Blaze, ALC, etc.

Those videos of Weezy zoned out, rapping Currensy tracks proves how much his style has changed.

All his other artists have just been punchline rappers imo.

This could be the tipping point. A bid for mainstream acceptance ala Rolling Papers could be either brilliant or disastrous.

I remember “Where The Cash At” Spitta. Not that I’m expecting him to regress to that level of rapping but with a bigger budget comes raised expectations and a bigger reason for Warner Bros. to be looking for certain kinds of records to ensure they make a return on their investment.

I’m more so looking forward to Covert Coupe 2.

I can’t see Spitta going mainstream. he’s been down that road before. his progression is crazy. just look at where he came from. no limit to cash money then the monthly mixtapes to now. I think he is more interested in keeping his fan base and if those records crossover then so be it

  54. Troubleshooter1900 Says:

Nas is the embodiment of all the ethos of being a black artist who lived on both sides of the fence. He expressed himself in words that no other mortal even have the capacity to understand in it’s fullest digestion the way to observe life.

I said that to say this:

Nas = the greatest artist in the history of man. Fuck “of all time”. Duke is the king of the art world for his candid pieces on being black. His art is a complete paradox. The life life really is.

Niggas will say, “I think about nas’ lyrics more than I listen to him”…. That’s LITERALLY the highest compliment. He hit that god chakra in you and you don’t even know it.

    ^I’m saying.

People are acting like Nas being content with his lot of solely using art as his means of income is a bad thing. I bet his life is a lot more stressless than Jay’s.

People wanted more of his pursuits in the corporate world of the business, but he said, “Nah, fuck alla that. I’mma do me to the fullest. Flaws and all.” And he’s doing it. Flaws.And.All.

^You do know that I’m a licensed bartender, right? Sloe gin is great. I love it, but it doesn’t do me right in the AM thereafter bro. Sloe Gin Fizzes and Alabama Slammers are the shit with Sloe Gin. It’s just sweet enough to not be considered a girly drink and its potency is hovering around 70%. And that’s exceptional for a liqueur. Most have 40-60% alc/volume rating.

I dig it. Keep it around for the misses and guests.

    ^This.

I think they have their eyes on Qutar and some other heavily Muslim nations on the rise, but to back down a superpower is still beyond their reach on reality. They are not stupid people and they don’t make volatile risks without supreme calculation. My guess is that they are truly using it for the greater good with the intent to destroy smaller regions to expand. I don’t see them facing a superpower without first flirting like we did.

they know the outcome of global catastrophe and also looked down on the nuclear “could have been” a few years ago. I hope they have the world’s best interest. I truly do. They got yellow cake on top on yellow cake. With great power comes great responsibility. I’m predicting some top notch physicist and engineers from the region in 4-10 years.
