That Red Cafe joint with Ross & Ryan Leslie is tye ill.

I still woulda rather heard Fab on that joint tho…which summarizes my feelings about nearly every Cafe song I’ve ever heard.

My thoughts EXACTLY. It doesn’t help that Wale thinks he’s one of the greatest MCs to ever grace our planet.

He’s a fairly decent rapper who makes fairly decent music. No hate

But be clear, my favorite new rapper (new to me anyway)?

    Mr. Muthafuckin’ eXquire

Been catching up on his older stuff.

Dude is like a more emo, more accessible/marketable MF DOOM.

I saw some ASAP Rocky/Odd Future comparisons round here last night but I think eXquire is more in line with what Tyler/Mellowhype are doing thematically. With an East Coast boom-bap slant of course.

Never was much of a Definitive Jux/El-P kinda cat but eXquire is one of the few NY underground acts that’s really underground (not pseudo hipster underground) and actually dope enough to have a shot at the mainstream.

Anything that guy spits on is worth a DL.

Agreed, but the beats on his new tape are wack

I’ve enjoyed his previous projects and D/L them all but I suggest to stream CDIH and then D/L what you enjoy, which may not be a lot

Wale raps as if he is the second coming and Biggie and niggas refuse to acknowledge it

There a difference between having self-esteem and thinking your the shit

Wale can’t figure out which artist he wants to be..

Yeah. He doesnt know if he is a bamma rapper, a pop rapper, a hipster rapper or a lyricist.

  36. jderrida Says:

Yeah. He doesnt know if he is a bamma rapper, a pop rapper, a hipster rapper or a lyricist.

Being accessible to different audiences is great way to make money tho…

Wale is just a cat who can rap
Doesn’t always have the best lines/songs either
No personality that you can hear in his music

  37. AmpGeez a.k.a. Amphernee Hardaway Says:

And hooking up with Ross & MMG only further confuses the issue.

^exactly. He’s been all over the radio hear today. His personality is blah he don’t have that commanding presence I hope he sell 100+ tho
My shorty put me on to Lotus Flower but Miguel Renagaded him. Same wit Ross x Jerimih on That Way. Dude just don’t stand out…but I’m not hatin he gettin money and got a second chance cuz he really should be done after that first effort.
He een got shit on by Cudi. Wale is kinda a fuck boy

  39. tHe KiD fRanKiE Says:

Even the radio stations in Dc clowned him for that Gaga shit

    Miguel is dope tho

His album was ok (given I don’t normally listen to R&B)

  41. AmpGeez a.k.a. Amphernee Hardaway Says:

Wale is kinda a fuck boy
    ^^^

But he’s been able to walk through fail after fail & survive due to sheer arrogance & ego and a healthy amount of genuine talent.

He’s kinda like Ross in that way.
