Clicked on that Jeezy expecting to hear some heat. Y’all be telling bold face lies though.

  3. AmpGeez a.k.a. Smoke Greene Says:

    @hl

Decent enough attempt at the angst rap that’s become so popular with the white kids. The song just straddles the line of Pop & street. I think Tip’s presence brings the song down a notch but it’s still a strong offering to radio & Chris Brown is nowhere in sight.

  4. why? Says:

“It doesn’t help that Cole brings the least-flavorful bars of his career to his debut, aiming, most likely, for something more universal than his diaristic mixtapes. The few glints we get of his personal life are intriguing: “Lost Ones” is a slippery and well-conceived, two-sided argument between Cole and his baby mother over whether they will keep the child. “Breakdown” affectingly recounts his late-in-life reunion with his father. But otherwise he seems to be playing by implied, major-label debut rules: keep it simple, slow it down, don’t lose anyone. The result is like glutinous paste that results from mashing together Drake, Kanye, and Big K.R.I.T. and straining out what makes them interesting.

Jay himself, the benefactor figure, pops up twice. Both times he finds subtle ways to undermine the supposed marquee star. On “Mr. Nice Watch”, he flexes his double-time flow on a guest verse, coolly blowing Cole out of the water. And in the intro to “Rise and Shine”, he comments off-handedly on his ideal signee: a hungry, young kid rapping over his breakfast cereal, gunning for Jay’s own spot. “I’mma find him, though, and sign him; I don’t want no problems,” he says and there is a startlingly predatory ring to his laugh. J. Cole certainly posed no threat to Jay-Z’s crown; he’s too humble and lacks charisma. But maybe the next up-and-coming rapper to successfully forge and remain in his own lane is the one who refuses Jay’s help.”

Whatup Oak. Nah I’m just proud of the kid!

He’s mad humble, genuine and doesn’t rap about fame & money so I can’t help but root for him. Especially when the hate was strong in this b!tch.

The Drake comparisons were outta control, the slander, the naysayin, so yeah I might be in a celebratory mood lol.

The album is genuinely good tho. Some ppl are going to miss out.

  15. Tron Stockton Says:

Y’all be defending Cole like he’s your little brother or something..

If people don’t like it, they don’t like it. If you do, great

But who really gives a fuck?

  16. Tron Stockton Says:

Yo, this might be the new format for new artist moving forward lol!

They was so hell bent on Cole having a “Black n Yellow” that they almost didn’t put the album out. I hear Cole had to fight for that release date. Damn shame…*smh*

Rise and Shine is a beauty man, so many flow changes and the beat is bananas.

  21. G7 Says:

I’m no sure how much difference it would’ve made,Hit ItInTheMorning was pretty popular with a Drake feature,Lights Please made the radio, and Simba and all that other Lion King shit had a cult following. What more could the little nigga do?

Black n Yellow was a smash hit and didnt translate to moving units for Wiz,so niggas might need to gtfoh with the “hit” theory.

Niggas need more Youtube comments, there’s a lot of A Chick out here, maybe not as sexy eyes as her,but a lot nonetheless.

Respect the niggas buzz,he got his fanbase, regardless what you may think about him.
