    ^Yup.

The game BEEN changed. But you have to judge artists works pertaining to their era respectively. Even with discussing other artists from different ones.

J.E. aint no Biggie (yet). Not because of song discography, but because ^he ain’t don’t shit thatade the whole game peep.

The masses are still ignorant of him. My hammy knows who Biggie is. She ain’t heard of no Jay Electronica. She’ll prolly thing im saying it’s something wrong with her electronics.

    Mixtapes
    Free albums
    EPs
    Miscellaneous songs

Fans are gonna have to adjust the way they judge rappers careers, other than looking at how many bar code albums they put on store shelves

    ^

Thats all a part of it, but the album- the actual project you expect someone to PAY for should always the standard.

Like, you didn’t Like Lifestyle Music. Does that mean we fucked up our career because someone didn’t like a free product?

I want people who buy the ALBUM to be happy with the work we did to make it great and look at it as our standard, not a mixtape or EP or “free album” we gave out until that project is ready.

ok – but with all these different ways to release music directly to your fans, how can you excuse jay elec for not taking advantage of that ?

i’m not asking for an album, i don’t care about singles or radio play or sales or any of that shit.. just put out some music.

i think he will drop a project eventually, and i expect it to be great.. but to put him in the top 5 NOW ? to say he’s comparable to biggie ? no fucking way.

    This.

Nigga is an internet sensation, nothing, nothing less right now.

Like, what other artist in the game could get away with releasing 2 unmixed, half completed freestyles, a mountain dew commercial, and Shiny Suit Theory and still have niggas saying they top 5 DOA?

    Seriously?

You forgot the “Seriously?” following that homie. Nigga aint spit nothing mindblowing on any of those tracks to make me say he top 5. I’d say it was an indictment on hip-hop that this nigga is allowed to half-ass his way to victory.

    I can somewhat agree

I wouldn’t enter a hip hop discussion and proclaim him being Top 5 … JElec whole career is one EP and miscellaneous songs … and in Top debate people need projects to say “ABC” > “XYZ” and they need time after it dropped to fully judge the music and its impact

but If someone asked me who MY favorite rappers are I’d say Jay Elec before Biggie

    @JihaD

I definitely wouldn’t say that, but you view JElec free music as promotion tool. When I view it as him as expressing himself with no care, people have loved it so much that it propelled him into a position I don’t believe he was looking for or was expected.

  12. Charles Oakley Says:

Nah, if you giving Lifestyle Music 4 “>”s then u gotta give Jay E’s two ruff tracks like 12. No shots. This guy is spitting better than 99-100% of the current game. There’s a reason why he still being talked about with no album or mixtape in 4 years.

  13. Cypher Says:

If you in the NBA and you play one game… Shoot four shots… And miss none.

You have a 100% shooting percentage… But does that make you the one of top players to ever play?
