There’s no reason for HDD, and Billboard to lie about this stuff. And no the label isn’t buying hundreds of thousands of CDs to prop Wayne’s numbers. That makes NO financial sense.

    ——————–
Where are your facts? Do you even know who is behing HDD and/or Billboard? Who is in charge of distribution at the label? Do you even know which label he is on? Do you realize only 538 people actually get to decide who the president is going to be?

    NO!

So I stand by my original statment.
    ————————————————

Nah, you’re just being a conspiracy theorist.

Could you tell me what there really is to gain, that would warrent the effort to fabricate numbers, and to buy shitloads of CDs back from your own artist.

rappers need to just give albums out at their concerts and charge 3-5 more….
but they cant with their agreements obv

i seen it sometimes. it wouldnt work wonders at all, but if it wasnt an option, and they just gave one to each person witha ticket…
    —————————————-

Pretty clever to do for big name rapper.

Or just do away with releasing music for money, and just charge more for the concerts while releasing free music and doing occasional promotion.

    ^^^
    exactly

i think ghost or rae did it as an option for $5 more . i already owned it so i was good, but thought it was smart

i figure take out tthe option, since people are still cheaphaha
    ——————————————————–

    haha pretty much.

People consume music more than ever, and live music is growing the last few years. Music as a product is stronger than ever, its RECORDS that are dying.

The media can say whatever they want either because of incompetency or bias or whatever, but eventually it’ll be the case where established artists don’t need labels at all.

Right now though, smaller artists still stand do gain from a big labels support and connections.

  8. Beezy Says:

he used to love when FBM was around

  9. Captain Planet Says:

    I ain’t a YMCMB fan

But CLEARLY YMCMB runs this rap shit

Any astute objective observer could see this

It explains all the shots Drake was sending

    This Black Jew was right

  10. mcb Says:

one day a rapper is gonna just storm the offices and bring a bat with him..

  11. kevfrescura de talco Says:

baby & jay are high level competitors in this rap shit that you have not a cent invested in.

since when stanning for another mans pockets bring you paper?

  12. jderrida Says:

The only numbers that matter –> 9.27.11 Cole World

    ^^^

    Lets think on this

    Cole ain’t selling shit

and this maybe the first time were a rapper propelled by the mainstream blogs and with the help of a legit label and major co-signs flops

    Drake did it
    Cudi did it
    B.O.B. did it
    Wiz did it

  13. Jackson7 Says:

    no matter WHO you are…

millions of mostly young record buying niggas aint really buying records by no 42 year old rappers…

niggas already bought RD and BP and BP2 years ago, and would rather download his newer, less potent bars…

If Hov had any inkling of information that these numbers were fabricated wouldn’t he tell us ?

Or find a way for it to ” leak ” to the public ?

If this isn’t the standard business model in ten years, just assume the record labels or on some Illuminati shit and is preventing shit from happening to keep their industry artificially solvent.
    —————————————————-

The only thing slowing it down, is that smaller artists do benefit from a big labels support, so talented and buzzing new kids get signed to long contracts.

But it wont last. It can’t.

eh. no one has the shit on lock. YM might be the most profitable right now, but i think rap might have broken up into too many niches for anyone to claim they are running everything right now.

the problem is, is that you’d lose out on my money because you would miss out on a lot of wouldbe buyers that live in smaller venues.

Maybe a subscription model would work tho… buy the jay subscription

get one free concert ticket 1 album and 2 mixtapes.. and a camelback backpack

  20. Beezy Says:

imagine if Wayne could capture all the sales and avoid downloads

  24. d_block_4_life Says:

but dont get it twisted, that nigga is so on Brady and Rodgers level… if not higher… for more years and with less talent around him…

that nigga is totally running the show… he’s his own offensive coordinator… them coach niggas on the sideline be in the headset saying, “Welp… what you wanna do here Mr. Manning?”… #18 be at the line of scrimmage directing traffic and pop-locking plays to his backs and receivers and whatnot…

    he’s a bad dude..

bless his heart tho… the discs in his neck (no homo) finally gave out after all those years of supporting his cavernous Rey Hussein sized cranium …

    What niches ?

Drake, Nicki Minaj, and Weezy all under one umbrella

Only niche we talking about is paper

  29. RNC Chairman Michael Steele Says:

Young Money’s 3 Headed Monster is pretty much unstoppable in N. America.

    Wayne, Nicki, and Drake.

The Throne are nice, and Eminem can sell well when he does a solo record, but YM kind of have the biggest crew, and no other label comes close right now.

GOOD Music has the best mainstream rap label roster as far as music goes.

  30. Cypher Says:

Hov dont care no more.. he already gone.

he dont rap to make money any more… he raps to make more money.

WTT is throwaway money for him…

  31. Hoskins Says:

  32. mcb Says:

*daps RCN for the actual discussion*

    for real tho.

the internet=soemthing theycouldnt comprehend or protect against their “product”

spitta, krit, etc.. are trying this. of course they signed but, it will come to a point where signed rappers, with the exception of the top 1%, arent making enough to continue, live,e tc..

endorsements, show money, merchandise etc are limited by record companies right? those are the ways these independent artists eat right? i mean fuck… so the advantage is bigger distrubution and more marketing… but again internet and specialized marketing campaigns can be used and probably do well. i mean shit… there is a guy called Moufy from MA. cat got ont he news cuz of his video being a little controversial. BAM sold out a show. then i know this other boston sports site which throws concerts picked him up….

distrubution eventually will be killed off.. except e-distribution and VERY limited physical releases (im talking more than 10 years down the line).

then cats will sell cds of the free or paid mp3s to people who dont use the internet… if there are any.

that last part is very speculative and not fully thought through, the rest isnt tho

  33. Cypher Says:

wayne be skate boarding, acting like a teenager … dressing all young … appealing to the high school / middle school set

no worse than Jay acting 30 though i guess

the problem Jay only acting like he 30 cause he damn near 50… that nigga career stay with a 10yr time delay

  34. Big_seth Says:

imagine Wayne Shutting the Fuck up…

    that would be good.

And Wayne been shooting at Jay since Carter 1.

people forget all the lil sublims and half disses.

    he’s a fan. FACT!

Jay sends one jab at that nigga (that is true) and Wayne gon have a bitch fit. He has been waiting for that jab for years.

AND on c3 he said he took Jay’s verse as handing him the crown… when Jay BEEN said that it was to all the young rappers not just wayne. You know Jay wasn’t there when they mixed that shit and made it seem like he handed the mic to Wayne.

    Bitch shit.

all you need to know about Wayne can be said in his VMA attire. LOL.

Just had to drop my 2 cents. Peace folks.

  35. Jackson7 Says:

Nicki Minaj’s music is trash on trash on trash ..

no matter how rich she is, im embarrassed for her…

but damn, she is super beautiful (when she dresses normal)

Jay acting 30 is much better than wayne dressing like a 13 yr old girl.

Kid sister called and wants her wardrobe back Weezy. LOL
