Video: Mos Def Explains Plans for Name Change

Mos Def tells Peter Rosenberg at Rock The Bells that he intends on changing his stage-name to Yasiin at the end of the year. If his explanation as to why doesn’t make sense, I remember reading somewhere that he had already changed his real name to that.

Mos Def, 1996-2011.

    CPs PMSing again….

What happened, did someone ask him a personal question again?

Poor guy always gets insecure when that happens. And start shooting in all directions like he’s got something to hide.

A lot of nahggers is clearly skitso ( You know You )

But I did credit you guys with some objectivity

You guys can really tell me that it’s no big deal that two of the biggest rap act of our era ( Kanye and Jay ) Selling HALF, I repeat HALF of what Weezy just sold

Not to mention that Weezy just sold his fans crab – I mean it’s not like it was a classic niggas had to get

    Keep deluding yourselves

  5. A Chick Says:

There’s no reason for HDD, and Billboard to lie about this stuff. And no the label isn’t buying hundreds of thousands of CDs to prop Wayne’s numbers. That makes NO financial sense.

    ——————–
Where are your facts? Do you even know who is behing HDD and/or Billboard? Who is in charge of distribution at the label? Do you even know which label he is on? Do you realize only 538 people actually get to decide who the president is going to be?

    NO!

So I stand by my original statment.

Pretty clever to do for big name rapper.

Or just do away with releasing music for money, and just charge more for the concerts while releasing free music and doing occasional promotion.

Nah, you’re just being a conspiracy theorist.

Could you tell me what there really is to gain, that would warrent the effort to fabricate numbers, and to buy shitloads of CDs back from your own artist.

If this isn’t the standard business model in ten years, just assume the record labels or on some Illuminati shit and is preventing shit from happening to keep their industry artificially solvent.

the problem is, is that you’d lose out on my money because you would miss out on a lot of wouldbe buyers that live in smaller venues.

Maybe a subscription model would work tho… buy the jay subscription
