PICS: Nas – Nasty (Video Shoot)

Nas took it back to Queens this weekend to shoot the first single from his album. There’s some guerilla style behind the scenes clips floating around but we’ll wait for the official footage (because you know there’s gonna be an official, label sanctioned, three-part behind the scenes series that will drop at one-week intervals until the release of the eventual video…)

    4th Quarter > Summer

    ( Musically )

Summer got cool music … some jams …

But 4th quarter is for that real shit … real thugged out … real deep … or real insightful …

And that Meek mixtape is ass. No hatred at all.

Niggas name a million songs that Meek allegedly snapped on, I wanted to see what he’s gonna do with the spotlight he’s gotten thanks to Ross.

    And I’ve seen it.

He’s Ace Hood with better promotion minus the hit records.

  3. jderrida Says:

It is even funnier to when you think about it.

From a national lens under observation Philly always seemed like a derivative of violent-gangsta New York rap.

Excluding The Roots, Philly Rap could be classified as the poor’s man New Yorker….

Maybe if Will Smith started rapping again a Philly rapper may be relevant commercial and critically

  8. Captain Planet Says:

According to Smith, “My mother, who worked for the School Board of Philadelphia, had a friend who was the admissions officer at MIT. I had pretty high SAT scores and they needed black kids, so I probably could have gotten in. But I had no intention of going to college.”

So a Cracker, a bunch of boring blog artists, a young money weed carrier, and a nigga who’s album just went double cotton is your “West coast artists getting recognition?”

    ^^^

Taking shots at artist characteristics and your opinion of their music isn’t substantive.

I could care less about how you feel about the artist.

Regardless of what you think you continue to ignore that FACT that Philly rappers who WANT mainstream/blog/prominent underground recognition ARE NOT getting it BECAUSE THEIR MUSIC doesn’t attract people check/listen to them.

I am not taking shots @ Meek. I enjoyed his music prior to signing with Ross. But he slowly erasing parts of him that made him unique and talented to become some clone of Mainstream rap.

AS AN ARTIST YOURSELF, YOU CO-SIGN GENERIC REGURGITATION OVER PERSONALITY AND CREATIVITY?

    ^

So then why are you talking?

My opinions are MINE- I’m not trying to change yours or make you see my way of thinking, but if you believe KL, Kreayshawn, or OF are gonna bring about a West Coast resurgance, then you need to keep sleeping.

Second, there was NEVER a discussion about philly vs anyone- Philly isn’t a major media market, and they act like such- artists make money directly IN the city- they don’t focus on an online presence or worry about “mainstream” (the fuck is a mainstream blog?) blog love, because it essentially means NOTHING to the majority of their audience.

Absolutely nothing– these SAME artists get play on the radio, hit up DVDs for promo, and still put mixtapes in the street. It is what it is.

Finally, I BEEN RIP’d Meek on my OWN– dropped a compilation and everything because I KNEW what was gonna happen– his style was gonna change to reflect that fucking officer. He has gained WAY more fans outside the city doing it, but niggas in the city still play his OLD shit because they don’t really fuck with it either.

Once again, it is what it is.
