J.Cole – Any Given Sunday 2

For the record, these are not mixtapes, not EP’s either. I wake up on Sunday’s and I decide what songs I want to let out or rerelease for yall. You’ve been so patient for 2 YEARS! I think you deserve some insight and unreleased music.

Tracklist and download link below.

1. Bring Em’ In- Made this in ATL during the “single hunt” phase. Even though it wasn’t a single and won’t make the album, I love this shit!

2. Roll Call- Just some real shit. Venting

3. Be Freestyle- “Put on for my city like my favorite jacket… “man, you gon’ where that every got damn night??”.. “know what I paid for this shit?? bitch, you got damn right!!”

american gangster is the only Hov album i listen to.

  94. JDS of the Cobra Kai Dojo Says:

i commend these dudes for the vision but they just don’t have the chemistry.

Jay should be the one that grounds the album but it seems like he just follows Ye’s lead & instead of having the whole thing grounded in a hip-hop spirit, they push too far and lose some of the more brilliant ideas and evenhanded-ness that show up throughout the album.

Perfect example: “Who Gon’ Stop Me” fucking implodes at the halfway mark & its a shame because it’s one of the more interesting tracks.

but like i said, there are some tough joints that i wish they would have kept that groove.

If they do numbers, I give them credit for somehow generating hype for it with no video, big interviews, or top 10 single. We’ll see.

  98. Marv Says:

See, that’s the problem with hyping an album so much…

Shit, I swear if if it wasn’t hyped up so much I would’ve probably thought it was cool…..

true. just like Just Blaze said on Act I, “you can go to the left and sometimes you’ll get killed for it, and sometimes you’ll succeed.” so i’m not mad at them for that. you live and you learn.

i didn’t expect nor want Jay to just “play his role”, but this was his chance to be “Kweli” to Kanye’s “Mos” lol and i just don’t feel like he made his own stake. there isn’t much in here that i can point to and say “that’s Jay’ style”.

but Jay’s been doing that for years now..dude hasn’t sounded authoritative since the Black Album. AG was perfect for him cos it was a grown and sexy album and that was his speed cos he an old man.

sonically WTT is two young and charged for both Ye and Jay. it’s like when legends partner up with the up and coming artists in an effort to sound fresh…it always ends up sounding forced.

    So WTT is very polarizing….

many reviews are giving it 9/10
but many are also giving it 6/10

  143. B18 Says:

how many of y’all actually purchased WTT?

  144. MiddleClassJoe Says:

    This shit isnt that great.

  145. MiddleClassJoe Says:

Watch the Throne is on the internet. This album isnt that great. Some songs are just unlikeable.

    Niggas in Paris>>>>

    Thats My Bitch>>>>

    Murder To Excellence>>>

    Maybe it needs more time.

  146. Smooth Says:

    WTT is pretty good.
It’s got it’s flaws, it has a some mediocre/boring tracks with poor production (welcome to the jungle has the corniest beat ever)..
But at it’s best parts it sonically pushes hip-hop forward and explores new territory…
Some moments are really exciting (who gone stop me, murder to excellence, new day, no church in the wild), other moments are really boring…but it’s a thoroughly enjoyable…
It contains some potentially classic material in it’s best songs
    7/10

  147. Smooth Says:

Swizz beatz gave watch the throne it’s best and worst songs

  148. Smooth Says:

THIS. That’s the story of this album — a whole lot of stunting masking a whole lot of pain, anxiety and fatigue. This music is deep.

The album is brilliant, yall. For real. Full of bangers, incredible lyrics, amazing, adventurous production, and real life experience. Murder to Excellence? New Day? The shit he says about Lil’ Wayne in Welcome to the Jungle? This stuff is pushing the boundaries of hip-hop, and music in general.

I hope yall dont dismiss this as stannery, cause its not; I pride myself on my objectivity. This album is a classic — watch for the reviews that come out.

  161. Mr. Iceberg Slim Says:

Problem with jayz is his lyrics go right over some niggas heads, they have no idea wtf he is talking about. Ge references greek mythology with Christianity and the strugglr of young black men and niggas like shit is wack. Some people love fastfood music

  184. Jackson7 Says:

Lmao @ whitlock and simmons ..

Whitlock is an obese uncle tom with no connection to the players and no tv presence… simmons is a glorified blogger who knows all about boston sports and nothing else..

Stephen A is a veteran columnist and an honest and socially aware and unafraid representative of black issues as they relate to sports… unprecedented..

    And he knows his shit

Just got WTT and *dead* @ niggas crucifying it off one listen. Niggas be dying to hate,LOL.

Imma listen with a open mind as far as the beats cuz obviously they are 2 of the best lyricist doing it. I just heard Kayne say some shit about a zebra and jungle fever that was ill,and Jay said “i’m balling out chea I know yall hear my sneaks”……thank God for some listenable rhymes this summer.

My thing ain’t if it’s good or bad,it’s if Kanye gets Jay on some of the tracks, not renegade, just one up….
