    I dunno.

I think it depends on the time. sometimes the world wants to hear about love

sometimes they wanna hear about niggas killing eachother.

I don’t believe its as one sided overall as you might think.

“How Many Hours A Day Do I Spend Talking About Jay-Z?”

    ^

Truest words ever typed on Nah

  31. big_seth Says:

I don’t think you folks realize the magnitude of what you are saying.

there are literally BILLIONS of songs that have been created through history. they cover every single facet or human emotion. there are plenty of great “classic” tunes that have nothing to do with love from symphonies to spirituals.

now to say American pop music is dominated by love songs… maybe.

that really has only been a factor since about the 50s. and even then I would argue that there are just as many songs about other things.

to say most classic songs are about love is almost a stupid thing to say.

  32. E aka Mac with the Cheese Says:

    $Wondough$ – I Need Love 2

  33. Smooth Says:

“How Many Hours A Day Do I Spend Talking About Jay-Z?”

    ^

Word, then ask “how many hours a day do I spend listening to Jay-Z”…then subtract the time u need for working, eating and showering…that leaves only 30 mins of non-Jay related alone time a day

    ———————————————————

how long has **pop** music existed? not long, so 50s-present would be a big chunk. And I think a lot of those pop standards that were huge before rock n roll changed pop were about love anyway, so it was a factor before that….

Just as many songs that aren’t about love would imply a close to 1:1 ratio….so love is the biggest topic in most pop music.

I would say hip hop is one of those genres where it ISN’T the big topic. That’s one of the things that makes rap unique, but that is definitely changing the more accepted and mainstream rap becomes.
