Diamond D Breaks Down His Catalog

It’s easy to forget just how instrumental Diamond D has been in the creation of so many classic songs and the rise of so many important artists. Complex just put up one of their “Tells All” pieces with the producer/MC and man, it’s a doozy. I’m very much familiar with D’s catalog, but I still find myself saying “damn, he produced that!” every few tracks. From one of my favorite records from one of my Top 3 artists of all time, to the first record Fat Joe ever dropped, to the title track of one of the best selling albums of all time, or one of his own classics, Diamond D has seen it all and he offers up back stories to some of the illest songs ever recorded. Like how he still wants to choke out the engineer who worked on L.O.N.S’ “Classic Material (Remix)” or what it was like reuniting with Big L, Fat Joe, A.G., & Lord Finesse for “Five Fingas Of Death” after they had all achieved individual success. Or the time one of the Hilfiger brothers pulled up to the “Watch The Sound” video shoot with a trunk full of gear for Grand Puba. Needless to say this is a must read.
